Sense Of Belonging On A Consolidated Campus: A Mixed Methods Exploration Of Student Perceptions, Amy D. Smith

This study explored the extent to which a subset of students who matriculated post-consolidation at the Armstrong Campus of Georgia Southern University felt they belong at their institution. Using an explanatory sequential mixed methods design, this study used a survey to examine general feelings of belonging and the influencing factors for belonging while presenting individual narratives collected from semi-structured interviews for eight students’ experiences. The data collected in this study revealed that significant differences exist in critical factors of sense of belonging based on race, gender, and LGBTQ+ identity. In 2023, ACER published the School Improvement Tool (SIT), the second iteration of the National School Improvement Tool (NSIT). A comprehensive review of international research was undertaken to inform the development of the SIT which consists of nine inter-related domains that describe the practices of highly effective schools and leaders. This document provides a summary of research evidence that underpins each of the nine domains of the SIT. In the face of high-profile cases of scientific fraud, there has been a renewed call among scholars to reconsider current best practices in academic publishing. Prominent in these discussions is a set of open science practices that ask scholars to “publish more” of their research—not in terms of manuscripts, but in terms of supplemental materials to the scientific enterprise. Instructors and administrators continue to debate the merit and value of using course evaluations to assess instructor effectiveness and course outcomes, especially when students see course evaluations as satisfaction surveys where they can unload negative and/or hurtful comments directed at instructors. Little is known about instructors’ perceptions of negative course evaluations. This study qualitatively examined faculty’s (N = 90) perceptions of negative course evaluation qualitative comments. Using a grounded analyst-constructed typologies approach, three types of negative course evaluation comments were identified: professional, personal, and performance. The purpose of this exploratory study was to examine communication factors that influence students’ academic advising appointments, including predictors of scheduling future advising appointments. Undergraduate students’ motivation and feelings of learned helplessness were related to their advising meeting preparation and their communication involvement during advising meetings. Students who reported high levels of motivation and low levels of learned helplessness were more likely to prepare for advising meetings and be communicative during meetings. Students with immediate advisors were more likely to communicate with their advisors during meetings. Advising meeting preparation, motivation, and learned helplessness were significant factors in future advising appointments.

This qualitative study sought to determine the stressors that motivate faculty to seek administrator support and examined faculty experiences of administrator support. Participants were 27 full- and part-time faculty members who completed a seven-item online questionnaire. Findings show that many participants felt unsupported by their administrator while navigating the stressful situations for which they sought help. This lack of support led to negative departmental cultures and faculty feeling insecure, undervalued, and isolated. This study highlights the need for policies and practices designed to build relationships between faculty and administrators. Efforts to improve the faculty-–administrator relationship can lead to increased understanding, …

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษากรอบแนวคิดการบริหารวิชาการโรงเรียนประถมศึกษาตามแนวคิดพลังการเรียนรู้ของนักเรียน 2) วิเคราะห์จุดแข็ง จุดอ่อน โอกาสและภาวะคุกคามของการบริหารวิชาการโรงเรียนประถมศึกษาตามแนวคิดพลังการเรียนรู้ของนักเรียน และ 3) พัฒนากลยุทธ์การบริหารวิชาการโรงเรียนประถมศึกษาตามแนวคิดพลังการเรียนรู้ของนักเรียน โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยผสมวิธีพหุระยะ (Multi – phase Mixed Method Design Research) เก็บข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณร่วมกันกับการเก็บข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพ กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ โรงเรียนประถมศึกษา สังกัดสำนักงานคณะกรรมการการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐาน รวม 395 โรงเรียน ผู้ให้ข้อมูลคือ ผู้บริหารโรงเรียน หัวหน้างานฝ่ายบริหารวิชาการ และครูผู้สอนระดับชั้นประถมศึกษา เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ แบบสอบถามและแบบประเมิน สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล คือ ค่าความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ค่าดัชนี PNImodified และการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาจากการสนทนากลุ่ม ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) กรอบแนวคิดการบริหารวิชาการโรงเรียนประถมศึกษา ประกอบด้วย 3 งาน ได้แก่ (1) การพัฒนาหลักสูตร (2) การจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอนและพัฒนากระบวนการเรียนรู้ และ (3) การวัดและประเมินผล กรอบแนวคิดพลังการเรียนรู้ของนักเรียน ประกอบด้วย 5 องค์ประกอบหลัก 20 องค์ประกอบย่อย ได้แก่ (1) การรับรู้เกี่ยวกับตนเอง ประกอบไปด้วย 4 องค์ประกอบย่อย คือ การรับรู้อย่างมีวิจารณญาณ การรับรู้ทางอารมณ์ การรับรู้ทางพฤติกรรม และ การรับรู้ในประสิทธิภาพตนเอง องค์ประกอบที่ (2) ความมุ่งมั่นและตั้งใจ ประกอบไปด้วย 4 องค์ประกอบย่อย คือ การมีความเชื่อ การมีความปรารถนา การมีทักษะ และ การมีความตระหนักในตนเอง องค์ประกอบที่ (3) การตัดสินใจเลือก ประกอบไปด้วย 4 องค์ประกอบย่อย คือ การได้รับโอกาสในการเรียนรู้ การได้รับอิสระในการเรียนรู้ การกำกับตนเองในการเรียนรู้ และ การเป็นเจ้าของการเรียนรู้ องค์ประกอบที่ (4) …

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1. ศึกษากรอบแนวคิดของการพัฒนาผู้บริหารโรงเรียน และสมรรถนะนักการศึกษาปฐมวัยมืออาชีพ 2. ศึกษาระดับสมรรถนะนักการศึกษาปฐมวัยมืออาชีพของผู้บริหารโรงเรียน 3. ศึกษาความต้องการจำเป็นของการพัฒนาผู้บริหารโรงเรียนตามแนวคิดสมรรถนะนักการศึกษาปฐมวัยมืออาชีพ และ 4. พัฒนานวัตกรรมการพัฒนาผู้บริหารโรงเรียนตามแนวคิดสมรรถนะนักการศึกษาปฐมวัยมืออาชีพ โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยแบบผสมวิธีพหุระยะ แบ่งเป็น 4 ระยะ กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ โรงเรียนที่มีการจัดการศึกษาในระดับปฐมวัย สังกัดสำนักงานคณะกรรมการการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐาน จำนวน 394 โรงเรียน จากประชากรทั้งหมดจำนวน 25,893 โรงเรียน โดยใช้วิธีสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบหลายขั้นตอน ผู้ให้ข้อมูลในการตอบแบบประเมินและแบบสอบถาม คือ ผู้อำนวยการสถานศึกษา จำนวน 330 คน และ 320 คน ตามลำดับ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แบบประเมิน แบบสอบถาม แบบสัมภาษณ์ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการคำนวณความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน การวิเคราะห์เชิงเนื้อหา และความต้องการจำเป็น ผลการวิจัย พบว่า 1. กรอบแนวคิดของการพัฒนาผู้บริหารโรงเรียน ประกอบด้วย 2 รูปแบบการพัฒนาคือ 1) การพัฒนาระหว่างเวลาการปฏิบัติงาน ได้แก่ การเรียนรู้จากการปฏิบัติจริง การมอบหมายงาน การหมุนเวียนงาน การทำงานร่วมกับองค์กรหรือชุมชนอื่น ๆ การสอนงานและการเป็นพี่เลี้ยง และ 2) การพัฒนานอกเวลาการปฏิบัติงาน ได้แก่ การเรียนในชั้นเรียนหรือคอร์สเรียนต่าง ๆ การเรียนรู้ด้วยตนเอง การเข้าร่วมประชุม/ฝึกอบรม/สัมมนา สถานการณ์จำลอง/บทบาทสมมติ การทัศนศึกษา/การเยี่ยมชม การแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้จากชุมชนแห่งการปฏิบัติ กรอบแนวคิดสมรรถนะนักการศึกษาปฐมวัยมืออาชีพ ประกอบด้วย 1) ความสามารถด้านการส่งเสริมการดูแลและพัฒนาเด็กปฐมวัย 2) ความสามารถด้านการพัฒนาหลักสูตรและสภาพแวดล้อมการเรียนรู้สำหรับเด็กปฐมวัย 3) ความสามารถด้านการจัดการระบบการสังเกต คัดกรอง การวัดและประเมินผล และการจัดทำสารนิทัศน์สำหรับเด็กปฐมวัย 4) ความสามารถด้านการส่งเสริมสุขภาพ ความปลอดภัย และโภชนาการสำหรับเด็กปฐมวัย 5) ความสามารถด้านการเสริมสร้างความสัมพันธ์ ปฏิสัมพันธ์ และการแนะแนวเด็กปฐมวัยและครอบครัว 6) ความสามารถด้านการสร้างการมีส่วนร่วมของครอบครัวและชุมชนในการพัฒนาเด็กปฐมวัย 7) ความสามารถด้านการมีภาวะผู้นำทางการศึกษาปฐมวัย 8) ความสามารถด้านการพัฒนาทางวิชาชีพปฐมวัย 9) …

The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine how collegiate student-athletes experience the decision-making process for selecting their academic major at a midsize, Division I university in the Midwest. With four participants from four different sports, this study’s results centered around four research questions: what was most important to the student-athlete when selecting a major, what challenges they ran into, what role others played in their decision-making process, and how the student-athletes’ athletic identity manifested in their decision-making for their major.

This study explored the influence institutional cultures and structures have on a university’s internationalization strategy. It also accounted for the roles external forces, such as government policies and geopolitics, play in shaping internationalization strategies. The comparative case study between the United States, England, and Sweden were situated within the contextual framework of comprehensive internationalization developed by the American Council on Education (ACE) and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Applying neoinstitutionalist theory of isomorphism, the case study revealed three typologies of internationalization strategies: idealist, realist, and pragmatist.
