Characteristics Of Seventh-Grade Middle School Students Who Attended A Continuation High School, Rae Lynn Kit

This study explored pre-existing quantitative data for 55 students when they were in the seventh grade who eventually attended a continuation high school years later. There were 101 students at a particular continuation high school, and this research explored pre-existing data looking solely at the students who were in the same district while they were in seventh grade. Attendance and grades from the pre-existing data in the district’s software system were analyzed using a descriptive methodology followed by a cluster analysis through SPSS. A significant percentage of the enrollment growth in higher education can be attributed to the recruitment of more diverse students, including those from immigrant households. Although research on immigrant students is growing in light of changing U.S. demographic shifts, this literature is inchoate. This paper examines evolving perspectives of the value of a four-year degree among immigrants and children of immigrants. This proposal presents a program design for the Peace Building and Community Development program, a ten-week civic engagement program for undergraduate Vietnamese students in Cambodia during the summer break. This is a new program model proposed to Sarus, a leadership and peace education organization, which has run its programs mostly in the form of short-term exchange programs. While such training programs are on the rise, institutions are no closer to a universal consensus on how to design and evaluate such efforts. This action research cross-case comparison study is set at an independent school in Maine which serves approximately 1,600 students in grades 6-12. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to understand how Christian school leader practices impact the creation of a school environment where spiritual nurture can occur in students. Through criteria sampling from an open web search of ACSI Christian schools in Pennsylvania, selected participants were elementary and upper school principals, an assistant administrator, heads of school, and an assistant head of school. This instrumental case study was conducted in order to understand how undergraduate students develop intercultural leadership and what they learn in an intercultural leadership program grounded in the transformative intercultural learning model. As a result of this study, three themes emerged regarding students’ learning experiences: Changes in Intercultural Development Inventory Assessment Results Indicated Positive Growth in Intercultural Competence, Intercultural Leadership Development Broadened Students’ Understanding of Culture and Leadership and Intercultural Leadership Development Requires Intentional Opportunities to Make Meaning. This study explored ways in which self-efficacy beliefs and actions of a principal contributed to the shaping of school’s collective efficacy through teachers’ perceptions. A general qualitative methods approach was used. The study featured a single embedded case design highlighting one high-poverty school achieving state accreditation standards for student proficiency levels in English and math. The study population consisted of 14 elementary school teachers in a district in a state in the mid-Atlantic region. The purpose of my study is to explore the stories of the ethical tensions K-12 educational administrators navigate when implementing high-stakes assessment policy in a culture of measurement during testing season. Some educational leaders, in particular K-12 school and district administrators, struggle with the tensions existing between their own personal belief systems, organizational dilemmas, and the requirements of enacting high-stakes assessment policies. The focus of this correlational study in an Alaskan career and technical (CTE) school environment was to explore the research question that guided this study: In a large urban school district of Alaska, with a diverse student population, what is the relationship between the CTE student connectedness level and academic achievement levels? Participants included 132 high school students, Grades 10 through 12. The Management Of Knowledge-Sharing In College Business Departments: A Study Of The Perceptions Of Business Department Faculty Regarding Knowledge-Sharing Practices, David Conrad, George Dierberger, Marc Isaacson

Despite the importance of faculty knowledge-sharing, as revealed in the review of literature, no study was found that explored the knowledge-sharing practices and beliefs among university business department faculty. For this study, university business professors were surveyed to elicit their perceptions about whether or not they believe knowledge-sharing practices are thriving within their departments. Professors rated their department knowledge-sharing practices decidedly low in three vital areas: teaching, scholarship, and culture awareness and understanding. Recommendations are made to enhance business department knowledge sharing.
