การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา 1) กรอบแนวคิดการบริหารวิชาการโรงเรียนในสังกัดกรุงเทพมหานครและกรอบแนวคิดการศึกษาเพื่ออาชีพ 2) สภาพปัจจุบันและสภาพที่พึงประสงค์ของการบริหารวิชาการโรงเรียนสังกัดกรุงเทพมหานครตามแนวคิดการศึกษาเพื่ออาชีพ 3) พัฒนานวัตกรรมการบริหารวิชาการโรงเรียนสังกัดกรุงเทพมหานครตามแนวคิดการศึกษาเพื่ออาชีพ ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยแบบผสมวิธีพหุระยะ ประชากรคือ โรงเรียนในสังกัดกรุงเทพมหานคร จำนวน 437 โรงเรียน ได้ขนาดของกลุ่มตัวอย่างจำนวน 290 โรงเรียน และทำการสุ่มตัวอย่างอย่างง่าย ผู้ให้ข้อมูลคือ บุคลากรภายในโรงเรียนสังกัดกรุงเทพมหานคร โรงเรียนละ 11 คน รวมจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 2,299 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยและวิธีการเก็บข้อมูลคือ แบบประเมินกรอบแนวคิด แบบสอบถาม แบบประเมินความเหมาะสมและความเป็นไปได้ของร่างนวัตกรรม และการสนทนากลุ่มผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณ ด้วยการใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนา ได้แก่ ความถี่ ค่าเฉลี่ย ร้อยละ ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และค่าดัชนี PNImodified วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพด้วยการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) กรอบแนวคิดการบริหารวิชาการโรงเรียนในสังกัดกรุงเทพมหานคร ประกอบด้วย 4 ด้าน (1) การพัฒนาหลักสูตร (2) การจัดการเรียนการสอน (3) การวัดผลประเมินผลการเรียน และ (4) การแนะแนว ส่วนกรอบแนวคิดการศึกษาเพื่ออาชีพ ประกอบด้วย 4 ด้าน ได้แก่ (1) ความตระหนักในงานอาชีพ (2) การสำรวจโลกของงานอาชีพ (3) การสัมผัสงานอาชีพ และ (4) การเตรียมตัว เข้าสู่งานอาชีพ 2) สภาพปัจจุบันของการบริหารวิชาการโรงเรียนสังกัดกรุงเทพมหานครตามแนวคิดการศึกษาเพื่ออาชีพ โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง ส่วนสภาพที่พึงประสงค์ โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับมากที่สุดทั้ง 4 ด้าน เรียงลำดับค่าเฉลี่ยทั้งสภาพปัจจุบันและสภาพที่พึงประสงค์เหมือนกันจากมากไปน้อย คือ ด้านการวัดผลประเมินผลการเรียน ด้านการจัดการเรียนการสอน ด้านการแนะแนว และด้านการพัฒนาหลักสูตร ตามลำดับ เมื่อพิจารณาร่วมกับองค์ประกอบด้านการศึกษาเพื่ออาชีพพบว่า ทุกด้านของการบริหารวิชาการมุ่งพัฒนาผู้เรียนให้มีความตระหนักในงานอาชีพมีค่าเฉลี่ยสูงที่สุด ส่วนการมุ่งพัฒนาผู้เรียนให้เตรียมตัวเข้าสู่งานอาชีพมีค่าเฉลี่ยต่ำที่สุด 3) นวัตกรรมการบริหารวิชาการโรงเรียนสังกัดกรุงเทพมหานคร ที่พัฒนาขึ้นคือ “สร้างความพร้อมเข้าสู่งานอาชีพ” (Creating Career Readiness : CCR) ประกอบด้วย 4 ด้าน ดังนี้ …

Considerable research has been conducted regarding the usefulness of placement testing in community colleges. Many stuides show that using the COMPASS exam may lead to students' unsuccessful course completion. To better identify the factors that may result in reduced attrition, the relationship between attrition and placement testing was studied. Using Tinto's student retention model and employing qualitative methodology, this study explored the perceptions of students and faculty regarding whether COMPASS placement assessment predicted future student success in first year courses at a community college that reports higher rates of attrition when compared to other area community colleges. The purpose of this study was to explore school principals' accountability with student academic performance. Charter and public-school principals are responsible for the learning process and academic development. Previously published literature did not reveal a clear understanding of the policies and practices that contributed in obtaining the desired student academic outcomes. Hiring and retaining a diverse faculty has demonstrated to have positive outcomes on student success. However, different forces have made it difficult for universities to have a diverse make-up that reflect their student populations, making it particularly important to investigate how faculty engage with the university. This study seeks to better understand how Chicana faculty engage with the university through the tenure and promotion process. This Dissertation is a qualitative study that uses ethnographic research methods to examine the translanguaging practices of bilingual students in first-year composition at a university along the U.S.-Mexico border. Specifically, I observe how and why bilingual students employ translanguaging practices, as they are encouraged or invited by their instructors, in contexts where English Standard Language policies exist. The results of this qualitative project demonstrate bilingual students' use of translation as part of their translanguaging practices, as well as a tool that uncovers students' writing processes which also demonstrates their language negotiation. This teaching case study is meant to help current and future school leaders become change agents who lead effectively and improve their schools. I discuss one case in a fictitious city and school that is representative of many other American schools. In particular, I examine adaptive challenges that educational leaders commonly face. This case study surveys and interviews alumni of International Student Exchange Programs (ISEP) direct enroll study abroad programs to learn about their post-program career path. ISEP alumni study from and in over 50 countries worldwide. Survey and data analysis methodology for this study used Cognitive Information Processing, Social Cognitive Career Theory, Chaos Theory, and Systems Theory of career development to determine what guides alumni toward or away from international relations (IR) related occupations.

College and university campuses are regularly faced with various types of crises. One category of crisis that is becoming a more regular event of concern is the active shooter event. Trainings exist that can help individuals respond more confidently in the event of an active shooter incident on campus. However, the authors were concerned that students with certain personality traits may be less likely to abide by active shooter training guidelines. The New Jersey Communication Association’s Adjunct/ Contingent Faculty Certification program provides a place of reflection for potential adjunct or contingent faculty and prepares them for teaching in a communication classroom. New Jersey state law requires an oral communication course for every college student. Disciplinary departments who may not have a direct connection with the field of communication often sponsor and teach these classes. This qualitative study contextualized the leadership experiences of journalism and mass communication (JMC) deans who self-identified as persons of color. While anonymously participating in a virtual focus group, these deans expressed bringing a higher purpose to leading their programs. This study aims to elucidate the benefits of increasing the diversity of JMC leadership and illuminate the need to improve the working environment for current and future JMC leaders of color.

The purpose of this study was to determine if the college and career program, in one urban high school setting, was being implemented as intended by the school district. A mixed methods analysis was conducted using student PSAT/SAT scores, interviews, surveys, focus groups, classroom observations and anecdotal notes from the program director. The results were coded to show emerging trends and themes. Live-in college residential life positions often involve extensive and diverse responsibilities including the support of residential students experiencing traumatic life events. While live-in staff undergo extensive training in regard to supporting these students, they are often ill-equipped to understand and prevent potential negative consequences associated with trauma support work including burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary traumatic stress.
