The Registrar and Associate Registrar from ERAU Worldwide discuss the torturous process of evaluating student requests for exceptions to policy and procedure. Decision points around continuing student status, late adds, drops, and withdrawals, curricular substitutions, and graduation will be explored. Scenarios from their office were shared for discussion. Recommendations for best practices for policy writing from the AACRAO Guide to Graduation Ceremonies are included.

Records Management in the Office of the Registrar and the Academic Integrity Office in Library and Learning Services worked together to centralize academic integrity data by creating a customized application in PeopleSoft that stores academic integrity remediation status, sends reminder emails to complete remediation, sends student and faculty status of incomplete remediation and stores breach record(s) and supporting documentation gathered from the investigation process. Records can be accessed by administration and program support staff and can assist in decision making as it pertains to sanctioning and appeals. As shown below, the cost of higher education in Michigan compares unfavorable to the rest of the nation. The variety of academic majors offered by universities seems to become more eclectic each year. From public relations to environmental economics to 3D graphics, the coursework and journeys taken by students across the country are exceptionally diverse. The University of Rhode Island offers over 100 majors, making it undeniable that some disciplines are disparate. My project calls attention to similarities in an area where the focus is customarily on the contrary. Before students were categorized, they all faced the same question – “What should my major be?”

Through partnership with two BPS high schools, school counseling graduate students engage in service learning and participate in organized experiences that meet school needs and are coordinated with graduate students' learning goals. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, a student drops out of school every nine seconds, with Latino and African American students being disproportionately represented. A survey-based study conducted with a diverse group of college students regarding experiences with their former high school counselor revealed evidence-based interventions that could be implemented with Latino and African American students to promote college attainment. This session will provide you with the knowledge to address impediments that Latino and African American students encounter and how to promote college access. Discussion and sharing information about various school counselor practices will be encouraged.
