Millennial Male Associate Degree Of Nursing Students: Perceived Motivators, Benefits And Barriers, Daniela Brink
All Theses And Dissertations
There is a severe nursing shortage in the United States which affects the delivery of healthcare. The reasons for the nursing shortage are many and complex including the national movement toward healthcare reform, an aging population making greater demands on an already stressed healthcare system, and stereotypical attitudes about the work of nursing in general. While men comprise approximately half of the population, men represent only 9.6% of the nursing profession. As millennials are the current emerging workforce, this problem of a nursing shortage could be addressed by increasing the diversity of the nursing workforce to include more men from …

Through the use of business models like Six Sigma, higher education has attempted to adapt and keep up with the times. This article will highlight the key impacts Six Sigma has had on higher education and supplementary improvements needed within the marketplace.

Reinvigorating Classroom Practice Through Collaborative K-12 And Higher Education Professional Development, Sean W. Agriss, Katie O'Connor, Louann Reamer, Andrea Reid
Northwest Journal of Teacher Education
High school, community college, and university faculty attempted to address student readiness for first-year college English classes by working with each other across sectors in an ongoing, collaborative professional development project, Successful Transitions to College (STC). STC demonstrates that teachers can work across sectors to smooth transitions for students who often navigate multiple educational systems throughout their K-16 experience. This professional development work intentionally built opportunities for faculty to work collaboratively while honoring teaching expertise and shared problem solving. Interest in student transition across academic sectors has created a fresh realization for many teachers—one of the best ways to …

Faculty Expectations Of Administrative Leaders’ Behavior Of The Department Chairs: The University Of Belize, Theodore J.M. Ogaldez, Adriel Hilton
Journal of Research Initiatives
Abstract
A new University of Belize (UB) was created through the assimilation of several smaller institutions and was only two years old at the time of this study. The authors recognized that the creation of this most-recent university would bring different expectations of leadership on the part of faculty and administrators. As higher education changes, particularly at the UB, the need for persons in leadership positions who can bring groups together in spite of differences, will be critical. According to Machiavelli (1961), there is nothing more difficult to plan, more uncertain of success, or more dangerous to manage than the …
