Freirian Reflections On Social Justice Education: A Practitioner’S Perspective, D. Scott Tharp

D. Scott Tharp

This paper integrates Freirian ideas into reflections from one social justice educators’ practice within higher education. This children's play is one I wrote in English but translated into Haitian Kreyol with the help of Joel Theodat. It's about a rabbit who loves peas and steals them from a little girl's garden; that is, until she captures him! We did a script-in-hand reading of the play at the Creole Institute at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, in July, 2014.

The boys put their thumbs up and Tan choses the next person to go. Playing Hot Seat with new vocabulary words was one of student favorites during the ESL Book Club conducted at their school.

Dr. John R. Fisher

Incorporating National Incident Management System training and exercise principles into homeland security and emergency management learning can help university students develop emergency response capabilities through practical application of knowledge in simulated incidents.
