Angkringan Names In Semarang: A Linguistic Landscape Study, Nurul Maghfiroh, Suhandano Suhandano, Aprillia Firmonasari

The article reveals the linguistic landscape study of angkringan names in Semarang City. It covers language preference, language inference, and language preservation on signages. Researchers collected 140 pictures of angkringan signages from 10 sub-districts of Semarang. Observation and interviews are also conducted to obtain comprehensive linguistic landscape data. Qualitative analysis indicates that there are two naming patterns: monolingual and bilingual. The monolingual analysis identifies that the most preferred language code is Javanese, followed by Indonesian, English, and Sanskrit. Meanwhile, in the bilingual pattern, the dominant language combination used is Indonesian-Javanese, followed by Javanese-English, Javanese-Indonesian, Javanese-Dutch, Sanskrit-English, and Sundanese-English. This practitioner focused article highlights the perspectives of pre-service teachers and undergraduate researchers investigating the kinds of learning interactions and instructional decisions that result in deeper learning outcomes for high school students. Deeper learning outcomes are often described as 21st century skills, including mastery learning, support of holistic and scholarly student identities, and the ability to engage collaboratively with critical and creative problem-solving skills. For our project, we collaborated with Cedarstone Arts Foundation, a non-profit centered on providing free music education and instruments to childhood cancer patients. Our goal was to create social media platforms for the foundation and develop a key marketing strategy via said platforms, with the desired outcome of increased exposure and donations. To achieve our goal, we researched the most relevant media outlets for advertising. We helped create high-quality content that would raise awareness for their cause. Despite the many documented physical and social benefits, dance is frequently not accessible to individuals with and without disabilities. We share an inclusive dance community partnership called Let’s Dance! that was developed to foster movement, connections, and inclusion. To increase awareness and inclusive dance opportunities, this community partnership involved (a) a workshop on inclusive dance practices for preservice teachers and (b) a community-based inclusive Let’s Dance! dance event. This hands-on workshop introduces university faculty to practical AI tools that support the full academic research workflow, from initial discovery to synthesis and writing. Participants explore the “Big 5” research tools—Perplexity.ai, Scite.ai, Elicit.com, ResearchRabbit, and SciSpace.com—along with Google’s Gemini extensions and NotebookLM, a source-grounded AI designed to analyze uploaded documents while maintaining privacy and providing live citations. The session demonstrates how these tools can accelerate literature reviews, fact-checking, visual mapping of citations, and deep synthesis of complex sources. With a focus on transformation within what educational philosopher and Buddhist leader Daisaku Ikeda termed the life-sized paradigm, this interpretive qualitative study drew heavily upon arts-based research practices to explore how dialogue with, through, and about art shaped student value creation and the development of global citizenship dispositions in an online graduate course. This study sought to address the need to explore curricular structures and pedagogical practices which center our humanity and cultivate epistemologies missed or minimized by traditional teaching methods. Children with disabilities often require explicit social skills instruction. Underdeveloped social skills can impact a child’s ability to form relationships, communicate effectively, and navigate social situations. Puppetry has emerged as a promising and multifaceted tool for social skills instruction for children with disabilities. The purpose of this study was to systematically appraise the quality of the existing literature and summarize the characteristics of puppet-based social skills interventions for children with disabilities. Suggestions are given for future social skills research involving puppetry.

This practitioners' guide provides 10 strategies for creating inclusive theater programs for youth with disabilities. The suggestions are based on experiences the author gained working with ACORN youth players. ACORN is an inclusive community theater that provides performance opportunities for all youth, but especially those with mental health struggles or high-incidence disabilities. Strategies focus on the different stages of theater production: planning, auditions, rehearsals, and performances.

This poster examines how the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas has developed a community engagement ecosystem through exhibitions, public programming, partnerships, and educational initiatives. Using the Living Here exhibition as a case study, the project demonstrates how university museums can function as community-centered spaces that foster dialogue, belonging, and civic participation. The poster highlights collaborative partnerships, oral history initiatives, student learning opportunities, K–12 engagement programs, and the future expansion of Living Here as a national traveling exhibition. Low initial reading skills are an indication of low student literacy. This research aims to analyze the early reading skills of Phase A students, which includes grades 1 and 2 of elementary school. The research used a descriptive qualitative method, involving 122 students from two elementary schools in Garut Regency, aged 6 to 8 years old. The instrument used in this study was the Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) reading test. The results of the study showed that 68% of students in Phase A had early reading skills in the category of needing guidance. Meanwhile, 6.6% of students were in …

The integration of Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPACK) has been widely advocated in technology-enhanced learning; however, empirical evidence linking TPACK-based differentiated instruction to the development of critical listening literacy in higher education remains limited. This study addresses this gap by examining the pedagogical impact of a TPACK-integrated differentiated instructional model on undergraduate students' literal and critical listening competencies. A quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design was employed involving 72 students from two Indonesian public universities. I have addressed the theme of movement and momentum by referring to the importance of relationships and seeking community in navigating through the challenges of disability experiences. In this paper, I will explore how my relationships with my family members, fellow disabled artists, educators, and scholars helped me learn from my disability experiences and gave me the courage to come out as a person with disability (PWD) and explore disability as a sight of knowledge production.

This article explores how art education can address social issues like immigration through an art intervention at a university in New York City. The author, a Mexican-American educator, guides students in using art to critically engage with immigration, challenge oppressive structures, and envision a more inclusive world. After encountering various racialized critical incidents, we began meeting virtually and in-person, to imagine new ways of navigating academic spaces. Over several years, individual organizations in Jordan have been focused on increasing the participation of individuals with disabilities in the arts. This paper examines how experiences of social injustice can become sparks of creative agency in arts education and thus can lead collective forces towards social justice. Drawing from critical social theoretical perspectives on arts equity, creative agency, and transformational resistance, the authors engage flashpoint methodology to highlight pivotal moments documenting experiences from their respective research studies of youth arts education programs. These pivotal experiential moments—flashpoints—reveal insights into how disruptive and disorienting experiences of social injustice can spark creative agency and facilitate collective movement toward social justice.

Inspired by important works of speculative fiction, the movements of Afrofuturism and Indigenous Futurism have come to encompass a wide range of works by Black and Indigenous creators, including but not limited to visual artists. In this article I describe my own work as a white high school art teacher in a BIPOC classroom, leading class projects motivated by the fascinating overlaps of traditional practices, social critique, and futuristic fantasy in Afrofuturist art. As visual artists, our ability to explain process and convey meaning in our work is very important. Our BFA and MFA studio art programs trained us to write clear, concise, and universal artist statements. We were encouraged to highlight the concepts behind our visual work and discouraged from including our personal narratives or employing Chicane or Latine bodies of knowledge. In response, we apply theories and methodologies by Gloria Anzaldúa to our artist statements. First, we offer a framework of testimonio, Borderlands theory, and autohistoria-teoría.
