This thesis creates recommendations for methods to increase classroom engagement, specifically in classrooms consisting of art/design students within a dual enrollment setting. The recommendations follow the investigation of literature and the examination of studies related to engagement features of young college students who are studying graphic design. This thesis examines factors that potentially reduce classroom connectivity, and looks deeper into how those factors play a role in the engagement levels of students. Collaborating With Theatre, Nature, And Stem: A Multigenerational Family Event, Anni K. Reinking, Michael J. Vetere Iii, Jay C. Percell

Family engagement can take many different formats, including community events. In this study, the researchers designed an event to encourage multigenerational family involvement using STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and DAT (developmentally appropriate theater). The study was also designed in an outside environment to encourage interactions with nature and outdoor physical activity. The researchers found that families enjoyed the event and understood the academic and social benefits of nature and arts based education. Overall, this study continues a conversation focused on the importance of engaging families in nature and art based activities.

In this thesis, the author makes the case that drama is a powerful tool for language acquisition because it develops and engages embodiment, emotion and identity, important aspects of learning and communication that are often neglected in traditional language classrooms. Since the events of Sept 11, 2001, military service members have experienced frequent war-zone deployments, causing issues of separation, anxiety, and stress in military youth. As part of a 4-H project, a high school student and military teen developed and implemented an activity that uses art to allow military-connected children to express their feelings in a safe, inclusive environment. Music Times is a two dimensional educational video game with the purpose of gamifying learning of musical concepts. It has elements of adventure and visual novel games, and incentivizes the player to learn music to explore new levels. It is developed in the Unity game engine, scripted in C#, and targeted for mobile devices. It has six working levels: three lesson levels and three corresponding challenge levels. Each level contains slight differences in visual and aural feel.

This research examines concordance errors in grammatical syntax found in Arabic phrases conducted as a case study on the written texts produced by Arabic of IAIN Salatiga’s students. The qualitative approach is used to identify the types of errors. The sources of data in this study arethe students’ thesis proposals, IndonesianArabic translations, and Arabic-free compositions. The analytical method used is error analysis. The study found 19 types of errors which comprise of four phrase structures, namely the head-modifiers, modifier-head, head-head, and the head-apposition in gender, number, and definiteness categories.

This study aimed to describe the vocabulary of low grade primary school students based on the type and form of the word, and also the type and semantics domain. Source of research data is in the form of students written language derived from the essays of graders 2 and 3 from 6 elementary schools in Bandung. The data were analyzed qualitatively. This quasi experimental study aims to investigate how written retelling technique affects the reading comprehension of university students having different personality learning styles (introverted vs. extroverted). A reading comprehension test and a questionnaire were utilized to collect the data. Two groups of students were involved in the study, with the experimental group receiving the treatment of being taught using a written retelling technique and the control group being taught using the oral retelling technique. This study investigated the challenges and opportunities of formative assessment in EFL classes. It made use of qualitative research design by using indepth interviews to collect the required data. Three teachers and three students were involved as research participants in this study and they were intensively interviewed to get valid and reliable data regarding their understanding of formative assessment and the follow up actions they took after implementing formative assessment. This research aims to describe the linguistic features of the denominative verb construction (VDn) in bahasa Indonesia (bI). The construction of VDn is a verb derived from nouns, such as mengecat, menyekolahkan, berpakaian, bersepeda. This research utilizes observation in collecting the data and distributional method in analyzing the data. The Data sources are sentences on the use of bI either orally or in writing. This research shows that the VDn constructions, morphologically, are composed of derivational affixes and nouns. In a high school painting and drawing course, students investigated what contemporary women artists were making, saying, protesting, and changing in multiple art worlds. Group dialogue centered on generative themes in which students chose interconnected topics of combating domestic violence, affirming diverse body expressions and family relationships to launch a painting on canvas project.
