งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนากระบวนการเสริมสร้างคุณลักษณะการเป็นผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยเอกชน โดยใช้แนวคิดการเรียนรู้ด้วยการบริการสังคมและการละครเพื่อการเรียนรู้ และเสนอแนวทางการใช้กระบวนการดังกล่าว โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยแบบผสมผสาน (Mixed Methods Research) เน้นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพควบคู่การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณเพื่อสนับสนุนผล พบว่ากระบวนการวิจัยประกอบด้วย 4 ระยะ ได้แก่ ระยะที่ 1 ศึกษาและกำหนดคุณลักษณะเป้าหมายผ่านการสัมภาษณ์คณาจารย์และผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต เพื่อนำไปสังเคราะห์เป็นชุดตัวละครสะท้อนคุณลักษณะของผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยเอกชน ระยะที่ 2 สังเคราะห์กรอบกระบวนการเรียนรู้จากการสัมภาษณ์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการบริการสังคมและการละครเพื่อการเรียนรู้ ระยะที่ 3 ดำเนินกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้กับนักศึกษา 6 คน โดยเก็บข้อมูลผ่านแบบประเมินก่อน-หลัง วิเคราะห์ผลด้วย Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test ร่วมกับการสนทนากลุ่มและสังเกตการณ์ ระยะที่ 4 เสนอแนวทางโดยนำร่างแนวทางไปสัมภาษณ์ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ และจัดสนทนากลุ่มกับคณาจารย์มหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนเพื่อปรับเป็นแนวทางการใช้กระบวนการเสริมสร้างคุณลักษณะผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนโดยใช้แนวคิดการเรียนรู้ด้วยการบริการสังคมและการละครเพื่อการเรียนรู้ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า (1) คุณลักษณะผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนมี 6 ด้าน ได้แก่ การอยู่ร่วมกับความหลากหลาย โลกทัศน์ การจัดการชีวิตหลายมิติ การเรียนรู้แบบนำตนเอง ภาวะผู้นำเชิงเปลี่ยนแปลง และความเข้าใจวิถีการเรียนรู้ (2) กรอบการเรียนรู้ประกอบด้วย 5 ประเด็นสำคัญ เช่น การสำรวจชุมชน การใช้ละครสร้างการมีส่วนร่วม และการยึดจริยธรรม (3) กระบวนการเรียนรู้ 5 ขั้นตอน ช่วยให้ผู้เรียนพัฒนาคุณลักษณะดังกล่าวทุกด้านอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p < .05) โดยเฉพาะด้านการอยู่ร่วมในสังคมที่หลากหลาย และ (4) แนวทางการใช้กระบวนการประกอบด้วย 5 องค์ประกอบหลัก ได้แก่ หลักการ แผนดำเนินงาน การเรียนรู้แบบโครงงาน การประเมินเพื่อพัฒนา และระบบประกันคุณภาพ

ประสบการณ์การเปลี่ยนแปลงของบุคคลที่เรียนรู้ตามแนวคิดจิตตปัญญาศึกษา: การวิจัยแนวปรากฏการณ์วิทยา, เดโช นิธิกิตตน์ขจร

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาประสบการณ์การเปลี่ยนแปลงของบุคคลที่เรียนรู้ตามแนวคิดจิตตปัญญาศึกษาอย่างต่อเนื่อง และ 2) ศึกษาและวิเคราะห์องค์ประกอบของกระบวนการเปลี่ยนแปลงของบุคคลที่เรียนรู้ตามแนวคิดจิตตปัญญาศึกษาอย่างต่อเนื่อง ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพแนวปรากฏการณ์วิทยา โดยเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลผ่านการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกจากผู้ให้ข้อมูลหลักจำนวน 12 คน ซึ่งมีประสบการณ์ในการเรียนรู้และฝึกฝนตามแนวคิดจิตตปัญญาศึกษาอย่างต่อเนื่องเป็นระยะเวลาไม่น้อยกว่า 3 ปี และวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยแนวทางของ Van Manen (2014) ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ประสบการณ์การเปลี่ยนแปลงของบุคคลที่เรียนรู้ตามแนวคิดจิตตปัญญาศึกษาอย่างต่อเนื่อง สามารถจำแนกเป็น 5 ธีมหลัก ได้แก่ 1) จุดตั้งต้นของการเปลี่ยนแปลง2) ตัวเร่งและเงื่อนไขแวดล้อมของการเปลี่ยนแปลง 3) กระบวนการเปลี่ยนแปลงภายใน 4) สภาวะในการเปลี่ยนผ่าน และ 5) การเบ่งบานของความหมายใหม่ นอกจากนี้ งานวิจัยยังได้สังเคราะองค์ประกอบของกระบวนการเปลี่ยนแปลงของบุคคลที่เรียนรุ้ตามแนวคิดจิตตปัญญาศึกษาอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยได้กระบวนการเปลี่ยนแปลงภายใน 7 ขั้นตอนตั้งแต่ การเผชิญเหตุการณ์กระทบใจ การตั้งคำถามและการตื่นรู้เจตจำนงภายใน การฟังเสียงจากภายใน การเข้าใจตนเอง การยอมรับและคืนดีกับตนเอง การคืนอำนาจภายใน และ ท่าทีใหม่ของการดำรงอยู่ โดยกระบวนการดังกล่าวมีลักษณะเชิงพลวัตแบบหมุนเกลียว พร้อมกับปัจจัยภายนอกที่ส่งผลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลง ได้แก่ ผู้ชี้ทาง เพื่อนร่วมทางและชุมชนการเรียนรู้ พื้นที่ปลอดภัย และเครื่องมือ และปัจจัยภายในที่ส่งผลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลง ได้แก่ การฟังและสังเกตตนเอง การเปิดใจต้อนรับ ความกล้าในการเผชิญตนเอง ความตั้งมั่นและความสม่ำเสมอ โดยผลการวิจัยสะท้อนให้เห็นว่า แนวคิดจิตตปัญญาศึกษาเอื้อให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงเชิงลึกในระดับบุคคล โดยเฉพาะในด้านความเข้าใจตนเอง ความสัมพันธ์กับผู้อื่น และท่าทีต่อชีวิต ซึ่งมีความสอดคล้องกับแนวคิดการเรียนรู้สู่การเปลี่ยนแปลง (Transformative Learning) และสามารถนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ในการส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตที่เน้นการพัฒนามนุษย์อย่างสมบูรณ์

This dissertation explores the experiences of women transitioning from faculty roles to high-level administrative positions within four-year postsecondary institutions in the United States. Utilizing a phenomenological approach, this study investigates the strategies, challenges, and successes of nine women who have navigated this career progression, highlighting the systemic barriers they faced and the resilience they developed along the way. Through the lens of resiliency theory and intersectionality, the research examines how women balance personal and professional obligations, overcome institutional barriers, and utilize mentorship networks to support their advancement. Previous literature indicates that people with invisible disabilities (including neurodiversity) are at an increased risk of ableist microaggressions, especially on college campuses. Neurodivergent college students (N=13) were interviewed about their college experiences at a midwestern university in the United States. While only a few students reported experiencing microaggressions, there were overall themes of mistreatment from their instructors, watching other students experience microaggressions, feelings of depression, anxiety, and hopelessness, and the desire to mask neurodivergent traits to feel accepted at their university.

This study investigates the experiences of female Appalachian students at Mountain University in Kentucky, aiming to shed light on their journey and the university's impact on their lives and communities. In November 2019, the Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) from 2017 (Institute of Education Sciences [IES], 2019) depicted no significant change in the concerning status of adult literacy in the US. More than 52% of adults between 16 and 45 scored below functionally literate levels. While shortcomings are attributed to various factors such as high attrition rates in program, ill-conceived policy planning, and more, significant focus is placed on the impact of effective instruction. การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) เพื่อสังเคราะห์คุณลักษณะผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของพนักงานขายในธุรกิจค้าปลีก และ 2) เพื่อนำเสนอกลยุทธ์การส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตในสถานประกอบการเพื่อพัฒนาพนักงานขายในธุรกิจค้าปลีก มีการวิจัยเป็น 2 ระยะ ระยะที่หนึ่ง ผู้วิจัยเก็บข้อมูลด้วยการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก และการประชุมกลุ่ม จากกลุ่มผู้ให้ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ผู้บริหารระดับสูง จำนวน 1 ท่าน ผู้บริหารฝ่ายทรัพยากรมนุษย์จำนวน 5 ท่าน และพนักงานขายจำนวน 14 ท่าน จากการเลือกแบบเฉพาะเจาะจง และลูกค้าจำนวน 23 ท่าน จากการสุ่มแบบสะดวก วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยกระบวนการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา ระยะที่สอง ผู้วิจัยนำผลจากระยะที่ 1 มาเป็นเป้าหมายในการวิเคราะห์สภาพแวดล้อมภายในและภายนอกขององค์กร ใช้เครื่องมือการวิคราะห์ SWOT ในการระบุจุดแข็ง จุดอ่อน โอกาส และอุปสรรค ผู้วิจัยและผู้บริหารฝ่ายทรัพยากรมนุษย์ ได้ร่วมกันพัฒนากลยุทธ์ เชิงรุก เชิงแก้ไข เชิงป้องกัน และ เชิงรับ โดยใช้เครื่องมือ TOWS Matrix และนำกลยุทธ์มายืนยันกับพนักงานขาย ผลการวิจัยพบว่า คุณลักษณะที่สำคัญของการเป็นผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของพนักงานขายในธุรกิจค้าปลีก ได้แก่ การพัฒนาความรู้ด้านการขายอย่างต่อเนื่อง ซึ่งความรู้ด้านการขายที่พบว่าพนักงานขายจำเป็นต้องพัฒนาอย่างต่อเนื่องประกอบด้วย 1) ความรู้เกี่ยวกับตัวเองในฐานะนักขาย 2) ความรู้เกี่ยวกับลูกค้า 3) ความรู้ความสามารถเกี่ยวกับการขาย และ 4) ความรู้เกี่ยวกับสินค้า และกลยุทธ์การส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตในสถานประกอบการเพื่อพัฒนาพนักงานขายในธุรกิจค้าปลีก 4 กลุ่ม ประกอบด้วยกลยุทธ์เชิงรุก ได้แก่ 1) พัฒนาทักษะการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของพนักงานขายเพื่อการเรียนรู้ที่ยั่งยืน 2) พัฒนาเนื้อหาการเรียนรู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับงานขายและสามารถนำไปใช้ทำงานได้จริง 3) สร้างระบบประเมินและติดตามทักษะการเรียนรู้อย่างสม่ำเสมอ 4) ปรับปรุงระบบการบริหารผลการปฏิบัติงานที่สามารถแสดงผลแบบเรียลไทม์ 5) สร้างแพลตฟอร์มการเรียนรู้ออนไลน์เพื่อการเข้าถึงของพนักงานขายตลอดเวลา 6) ใช้รูปแบบการเรียนรู้ 70-20-10 โดยผสมผสานการเรียนรู้ผ่านเกมส์เพื่อความสนุกสนานและการเข้าถึง กลยุทธ์เชิงแก้ไข ได้แก่ 1) พัฒนาภาวะผู้นำของหัวหน้างานเพื่อสร้างความเข้าใจและมีทักษะในการส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ของพนักงานขาย 2) นำระบบพี่เลี้ยงมาใช้เพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ทั้งหัวหน้างานและพนักงานขาย 3) สร้างสถานที่ทำงานให้เป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของพนักงานขาย 4) พัฒนาระบบรางวัลเพื่อเป็นแรงจูงใจและสนับสนุนให้พนักงานเป็นต้นแบบการเป็นผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต กลยุทธ์เชิงป้องกัน ได้แก่ 1) จัดสรรทรัพยากรและระบบเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศเพื่อรองรับการเรียนรู้ของพนักงานขาย 2) พัฒนาทักษะการตัดสินใจเชิงจริยธรรมสำหรับพนักงานขาย …

This study focused on encouraging agritourism operators in the study area to engage in clustering. Collaboration within networks and clusters is strongly encouraged as a catalyst for accelerating industrial transformation, developing regional competitive advantages, and boosting company and job creation. All these factors ultimately contribute to economic progress and prosperity. A snowball sampling method was used to survey 192 agritourism operators, with 145 responses meeting the inclusion criteria for analysis. Exploratory factor analysis was employed to identify factors contributing to agritourism business development in the selected six states. The University of the Third Age records document the foundational years of the program. Records include plans and reports about the program and solicitation for funding. News articles, correspondence, and the script for the November 1978 documentary, broadcast by KCST-TV 39 San Diego, are included. Also included are records about establishing an Alumni association for the University, the graduation ceremony, programs for the early years of the university, and information about the courses taught. Whiteness As The Standard: Shifting Ideologies, Race, And Social Context, Kelsey Swift

Publications and Research

In previous work, I have documented and analyzed the persistence of mainstream ideologies around ’standard’ and ’nonstandard’ American English in the adult ESOL classroom and their connection to linguistic racism and anti-Blackness. This study explores how these ideologies developed more broadly, employing elements of raciolinguistic genealogy and metapragmatics to analyze historical language scholarship. I find that while the linguistic features of ‘nonstandard’ English have remained remarkably consistent in the popular imagination, they became increasingly linked with Blackness, especially during and after white backlash to the Great Migration (and other cultural and political changes) in the mid-20th century. การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) เพื่อศึกษาสภาพปัจจุบัน อุปสรรคและปัญหา ขององค์กรปครองส่วนท้องถิ่น ในการดำเนินงานด้านการเสริมสร้างภาวะพฤฒิพลังในผู้สูงอายุ และ (2) เพื่อเสนอแนวทางการส่งเสริมความสามารถในการเสริมเสร้างภาวะพฤฒิพลังของผู้สูงอายุโดยองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่น ประชาการที่ใช้ในการวิจัยในการวิจัย ได้แก่ เจ้าหน้าที่องค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นที่สังกัดในส่วนงาน ฝ่ายหรือกองที่มีหน้าที่ในการรับผิดชอบงานด้านผู้สูงอายุจากองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นทั้งหมด 7,850 แห่ง กำหนดขนาดกลุ่มตัวอย่างตามแนวคิดของ Yamane (1973) โดยยินยอมให้เกิดความคลาดเคลื่อนในการสุ่มตัวอย่างร้อยละ 10 และใช้วิธีการสุ่มอย่างแบบแบ่งชั้นภูมิได้จำนวนกลุ่มตัวอย่างทั้งหมด 99 คน และ ใช้ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิทั้งหมด 9 ท่านในการประชุมสนทนากลุ่ม เครื่องมือวิจัยเป็นแบบสอบถามแบบมาตราส่วนประมาณค่า 5 ระดับ และแบบบันทึกสนทนากลุ่ม สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และใช้วิธีการวิเคราะห์สาระในการสรุปนวทางการส่งเสริมความสามารถในการเสริมสร้างภาวะพฤฒิพลังของผู้สูงอายุโดยองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่น ผลการวิจัย พบว่า (1) ระดับการปฏิบัติงานด้านการเสริมสร้างภาวะพฤฒิพลังในผู้สูงอายุขององค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่น ในภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก โดยมีค่าเฉลี่ยเลขคณิตเท่ากับ 3.67 และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน เท่ากับ 0.98 และมีอุปสรรคและปัญหาในการปฏิบัติงานด้านการเสริมสร้างภาวะพฤฒิพลังในผู้สูงอายุขององค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่น อยู่ในระดับปานกลาง โดยมีค่าเฉลี่ยเลขคณิตเท่ากับ 3.47 ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน เท่ากับ 1.11 (2) แนวทางทางการส่งเสริมความสามารถในการเสริมสร้างภาวะพฤฒิพลังของผู้สูงอายุโดยองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นทั้งหมด 4 ด้าน ได้แก่ 1) ความสามารถในการจัดกิจกรรมโดยการจัดตั้งกลุ่มส่งเสริมอาชีพตามความถนัดของผู้สูงอายุ พร้อมจัดหาตลาดและพื้นที่กระจายสินค้าจากภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น และชมรมผู้สูงอายุเพื่อสร้างพื้นที่แลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นและแก้ปัญหาร่วมกันและส่งเสริมการทำงานเพื่อสังคม ส่งเสริมวัฒนธรรมการเรียนรู้ในองค์กรโดยเปิดโอกาสให้เจ้าหน้าที่พัฒนาตนเองผ่านการอบรม สัมมนา และเวิร์กช็อปที่สนับสนุนการส่งเสริมภาวะพฤฒิพลังของผู้สูงอายุ สนับสนุนการเรียนรู้ของเจ้าหน้าที่ท้องถิ่นโดยจัดอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการเพื่อเพิ่มทักษะการจัดกิจกรรมส่งเสริมสุขภาพและการเรียนรู้สำหรับผู้สูงอายุ 2) ความสามารถในการวางแผนงาน กำหนดนโยบายและแผนงานให้ชัดเจน พัฒนาแผนงานด้วยการถอดบทเรียน สรรหาบุคลากรผู้เชี่ยวชาญ: จัดหาและคัดเลือกบุคลากรที่มีความรู้ด้านสุขภาพจิตและโรคเรื้อรังของผู้สูงอายุ พร้อมกำหนดบทบาทหน้าที่อย่างชัดเจน ประชุมแบบมีส่วนร่วม 3) ความสามารถในการสร้างเครือข่ายโดยการสร้างความร่วมมือกับสถานพยาบาลด้านการจัดหาวิทยากร ร่วมมือกับหน่วยงาน เพื่อลดภาระค่าใช้จ่ายขององค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นและสนับสนุนอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขและ 4) ความสามารถในการวัดผลประเมินผล สนับสนุนการประเมินและติดตามผลการทำงานและมอบรางวัลเพื่อสร้างขวัญกำลังใจในการทำงาน

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) เพื่อวิเคราะห์สมรรถนะและตัวชี้วัดการรู้เท่าทันสื่อสารสนเทศและดิจิทัลของผู้ใหญ่ในชุมชนท่องเที่ยว และ 2) เพื่อพัฒนาโปรแกรมส่งเสริมการรู้เท่าทันสื่อสารสนเทศและดิจิทัลสำหรับผู้ใหญ่ในชุมชนท่องเที่ยว ประชากร ได้แก่ (1) ผู้ใหญ่ในชุมชนท่องเที่ยวทั้ง 6 ภูมิภาคในประเทศไทย ภาคละ 5 จังหวัด ๆ ละ 10 ชุมชน รวม 300 ตัวอย่าง ที่ตอบแบบสอบถามออนไลน์ (2) ชาวบ้านที่เป็นผู้ใหญ่ในชุมชนท่องเที่ยวตำบลบ้านแหลม อำเภอบางปลาม้า จังหวัดสุพรรณบุรี รวม 5 หมู่ ที่เข้าร่วมอบรมโปรแกรมรวมจำนวน 30 คน (3) ผู้นำชุมชนท่องเที่ยวตำบลบ้านแหลมและผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านสื่อที่เข้าร่วมการสนทนากลุ่มจำนวน 7 คน (4) ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิและตัวแทนจากหน่วยงานภาครัฐและเอกชนที่เข้าร่วมให้สัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก จำนวน 6 คน สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ค่าความต้องการจำเป็นโดยใช้วิธี Priority Needs Index แบบปรับปรุง (PNImodified) และการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) สมรรถนะและตัวชี้วัดการรู้เท่าทันสื่อสารสนเทศและดิจิทัลของผู้ใหญ่ในชุมชนท่องเที่ยว แบ่งออกเป็น 5 ด้าน ประกอบด้วย 1.1) ด้านการเข้าถึง 1.2) ด้านการวิเคราะห์ 1.3) ด้านการประเมินค่า 1.4) ด้านการสร้างสรรค์ และ 1.5) ด้านการใช้ประโยชน์ สื่อสารสนเทศและดิจิทัล โดยพบว่าส่วนใหญ่มีระดับความสามารถหรือทักษะอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง (=3.33, SD=0.15) และความต้องการทักษะการรู้เท่าทันสื่อสารสนเทศและดิจิทัล อยู่ในระดับมาก (=3.77, SD=0.58) และ 2) โปรแกรมส่งเสริมการรู้เท่าทันสื่อสารสนเทศและดิจิทัลสำหรับผู้ใหญ่ในชุมชนท่องเที่ยว มีกระบวนการหลัก 3 ขั้นตอน ประกอบด้วย (1) การวางแผน (2) การออกแบบโปรแกรมและการนำโปรแกรมไปฏิบัติ (3) การประเมินผลและความรับผิดชอบในการรายงานผล โดยองค์ประกอบของโปรแกรมประกอบด้วย 1) หลักการและเหตุผล 2) วัตถุประสงค์ 3) เนื้อหาสาระ 4) …

The purpose of the research is to explore the experiences of mature part-time culinary arts degree students in Ireland to examine the phenomenon of professionalism. While other researchers have sought the views of culinary arts educators and practitioners, the student voice is underexplored. The research focuses on a particular context: a major transition in the participants’ lives: their return to education, while working full-time as chefs. Their experiences are considered unique since they, as a group, navigate between two worlds: industry and academia. This study presented an investigation into the field of adult music education. The inspiration for this research stemmed from a perceived need for a uniquely adult learning programme which evolved into two programmes, Allegro for Adults I and Allegro for Adults II. The concept of this programme also involved the adult learning environment which was based in a music conservatoire in a university. Diversity in the curricular content was an important consideration and although the pedagogical approach was accelerated in nature, gaining knowledge and understanding underpinned the skills-based and compositional elements.

This conceptual overview offers a comprehensive overview of systemic pathways that negatively impact the mental health of Black Men throughout their lives. Our argument highlights the importance for counselors and mental health professionals to utilize a thorough social risk assessment that considers these pathways in order to effectively address the mental health needs of Black Men while fostering positive working relationships. This overview strongly advocates for the use of context and structural determinants when evaluating mental health symptoms. Without an appropriate understanding of social risk and determinants, counselors may inadvertently perpetuate disparities by decontextualizing symptomology, and reproducing racist discourse.

Purpose. To explore teaching academics' experiences of utilising digital storytelling as an innovative approach to prehospital education.

Method. This study describes an innovative learning activity, digital storytelling, developed for an undergraduate paramedicine program. The experiences of teaching academics were then explored through semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis was used to evaluate the data.

Results. Three themes were identified through thematic analysis. The first theme was ‘the impact of friction on learning’ which describes how a learning activity’s design can negatively impact learning. Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) offers diverse pathways for degree completion, including accelerated 4+1 programs, enabling students to earn bachelor's and master's degrees in five years. Despite program growth, enrollment challenges persist, prompting a study to identify barriers and enhance student experiences. This mixed-methods sequential explanatory approach investigates factors influencing enrollment in VCU's accelerated programs, drawing on Schlossberg's transition theory. Hurdles such as inconsistent data, limited awareness, and communication breakdowns across departments were identified through focus groups with advisors and administrators, as well as interviews and surveys with students. Research shows that dental students do not feel equipped to provide tobacco cessation care, citing lack of education on the subject among their top reasons for this.
