A Survey Of Teaching Methods Used To Relate To Generation Alpha Congregants In Central Texas, Shawna Mischell Dixon Dec 2022

A Survey Of Teaching Methods Used To Relate To Generation Alpha Congregants In Central Texas, Shawna Mischell Dixon

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The evolution of time and approaches to addressing the learning styles of students were influential in designing and redesigning educational programming to meet the needs of each generation. The theory that guided this study was the Strauss-Howe generational theory which proposes that each generation has a personality and characteristics that shape how they learn. However, literature described current-day youth congregants as being taught with the same or very similar teaching methods as those that were implemented to teach previous generations. The purpose of this quantitative descriptive study was to discover the teaching methods being used by youth ministry leaders and …

Q&A: Christian, Committed, And Called: An Interview, Linda Gray Jun 2022

Q&A: Christian, Committed, And Called: An Interview, Linda Gray

Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning for Christians in Higher Education

After teaching in a Christian University for more than 40 years, three professors who are retiring and have received emeritus status reflect on how students have changed over the decades and how they—as professors—have had to adapt to meet the needs of an ever-changing student body. The three professors were asked four questions: (1) how have students changed during the last four decades, (2) how have the professors adapted to meet the changing needs of students, (3) what was one unexpected thing each professor learned once they started teaching, (4) what advice do the professors have for those still teaching …

Teacher Development Multi-Year Studies: Impact Of Covid-19 On Teaching Practices In Lao Pdr, Timor-Leste And Vanuatu: A Discussion Paper For Practitioners And Policymakers, Aris Huang, Debbie Wong, Elizabeth Cassity, Jennie Chainey

Education Analytics Service

The COVID-19 pandemic caused significant disruptions to education systems around the world. Many governments responded abruptly, quickly closing schools and transitioning to home learning. This paper explores the impact of extended school closures due to COVID-19 on teaching and student learning in three countries – Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Laos), Timor-Leste and Vanuatu. This research extends the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)’s multi-year Teacher Development Studies, which are commissioned under the Evaluation Analytics Service (EAS). This study series involves the investigation of DFAT-funded teacher development initiatives in Laos, Timor-Leste and Vanuatu to understand the extent to …

Humor In The Foreign Language Classroom, Emily M. Walker Feb 2022

Humor In The Foreign Language Classroom, Emily M. Walker

Channels: Where Disciplines Meet

Humor is a notoriously vague construct, often identified not by formal definition but by individual intuition (Bell, 2009). This makes it rather difficult to study or categorize concisely – indeed, analyzing humor or explaining a joke is often thought to remove the fundamental enjoyment from the experience. Despite the inherent hazards, this research seeks to provide further insight into the effects and potential applications of humor in the foreign language (FL) classroom, guided by the following research question: How does L1 humor, specifically when used as a pedagogical tool, influence students’ affective filters in a college-level elementary foreign language classroom? …

Teaching Methods And Receptions, Server Revikovich Sheikhmambetov Jan 2022

Teaching Methods And Receptions, Server Revikovich Sheikhmambetov

Mental Enlightenment Scientific-Methodological Journal

This article discusses teaching methods in teaching Russian literature. The work pays special attention to the fact that each pedagogical technique is an expression of a certain teaching method. Each method should be related to the teaching method. The article also notes the importance of the choice of teaching methods and their purpose in the educational process. The choice of teaching methods is determined by a number of factors, first of all, the composition of knowledge that is contained in a given subject, the logic of the foundations of science being studied. And since the composition of knowledge, the content …

Creating Knowledge: The Literary Dictionary Assignment, Rebecca Cepek Jan 2022

Creating Knowledge: The Literary Dictionary Assignment, Rebecca Cepek

Honors in Practice Online Archive

A literary dictionary assignment provides honors students with an understanding of the ways knowledge shifts and changes over time as well as an opportunity to create knowledge rather than just recall correct answers.

For honors students, reciting the correct definitions of key terms—regardless of discipline—is generally simple. Where they struggle is understanding the ways such definitions may shift over time, shedding or accruing meanings with changes in usage, context, and critical perspective. To allow students to engage with such changes and to continue a tradition of “teaching the conflicts,” I have students create a dictionary of literary terms over the …

Mediation Roles Of Pedagogical Approaches And Personality Traits In Entrepreneurial Curriculum Design And Entrepreneurial Intention Nexus, Victor Fannam Nunfam, Ebenezer Afrifa-Yamoah, Akanganngang Joseph Asitik

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Planned behaviour theory was used in a path analysis modelling to investigate the serial mediation role of teaching methods and personality traits (locus of control, need for achievement and entrepreneurial attitude) in the relationship between entrepreneurship curriculum and entrepreneurial intention among university students in Ghana. A proposed 40-item instrument was used to measure outcomes for six constructs (3 personality trait constructs, entrepreneurship curriculum, teaching methods and entrepreneurial intention) for 324 participants. Acceptable convergent, divergent and construct validity scores were observed for the instrument. Teaching methods fully mediated the first-order relationships between entrepreneurial curriculum and each personality traits. The three constructs …

The Implementation Of Conversation-Help-Activity-Movement-Participation-Success Procedures To Improve Behavior And Academic Performance, Henreta Jarrett

Theses and Dissertations

This dissertation was designed to examine the fidelity level of implementation of Conversation-Help-Activity-Movement-Participation-Success (CHAMPS) classroom management strategies designed to reduce students’ behavior problems and boost academic performance at a large Title I elementary school in the southeastern United States. The participants included 10 teachers with experience teaching Grades 3 to 5 who had 3 years of experience implementing the CHAMPS classroom-management plan.

The researcher implemented bracketing, intuition, open-ended coding, and Axial coding to examine the implementation of the CHAMPS classroom-management plan in reducing behavior problems and boosting academic performance. The evaluation intended to address the central research question: How is …
