The problem of this thesis deals with the instruction of trade mathematics. The major problem involves teaching trade mathematics to a heterogeneous group of technical students. The final outcome must be students mathematically competent to function in their chosen technical area. The method of instruction must be flexible enough to allow for individual differences. The mode of instruction must be able to accept the student where he is mathematically and take him to where he needs to go. An Experimental Study Of The Effects Of Compulsory Arithmetic Homework Assignments On The Arithmetic Achievement Of Fifth-Grade Pupils, Eugene Edward Grant

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The major purpose of the study was to determine the effects of tho assignment of arithmetic homework by the teacher from the textbook, and teacher assigned differentiated homework prepared by the investigator upon the achievement of fifth-grade students as measured by standardized tests of arithmetic computation, concepts, and application. A secondary purpose of the study was to determine whether the assignment of the two forms of homework would have a differential effect upon the achievement for girls and boys and for low and high IQ groups.

Excessive noise is a form of environmental pollution. The continual increase in the community noise level during the past two decades indicates a future noise problem comparable to the current air pollution problem of our large industrial centers.

Trees and other forms of vegetation are known to have some effect on the transmission of sound but precise information on their use as noise screens is rather meager.
