Impacts Of Social Upbringing On Family Integration In Military Life In Sudan, Professor Issam A.W. Mohamed Oct 2011

Impacts Of Social Upbringing On Family Integration In Military Life In Sudan, Professor Issam A.W. Mohamed

Professor Issam A.W. Mohamed

In a country on the eve of losing one third of its land, 80% of potential natural resources and 75% of external exports value, economic future seems gloomy. Many opinions were given for economic solutions after the Southern Sudan secession. However, that does not support a theoretical framework that those are the only reasons for the expected economic collapse. Our theory here is that such collapse already happened because of economic mismanagement, corruption and hoarding initiated by the calls for empowerment and carried out by the regime's members. Such acts extended to the banks, economic institutions and randomized privatization. The …

Psicopatologia E Poder. Uma Lição De "Mentes Perigosas", Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha Oct 2011

Psicopatologia E Poder.

Republicanos Ou Publicanos? A Constituição De 1911 E A Concretização Da Ii República, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha Oct 2011

Republicanos Ou Publicanos? A Constituição De 1911 E A Concretização Da Ii República, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha

Engaging Research As A Student Affairs Professional, Rishi R. Sriram Oct 2011

Engaging Research As A Student Affairs Professional, Rishi R. Sriram

Rishi Sriram, Ph.D.

Student affairs professionals are often referred to as scholar-practitioners. As demands upon professionals increase, however, it is all too easy for the “practitioner” part to completely overtake the “scholar.” If we find ourselves too busy even to read research, perhaps it is time to pause, re-establish our priorities, and reclaim the “scholar” in scholar-practitioner.

Teachers With Passion: Teaching In A Distressed Educational Environment, Professor Ben C Osisioma Oct 2011

Teachers With Passion: Teaching In A Distressed Educational Environment, Professor Ben C Osisioma

Prof Ben Chuka Osisioma

Passion is great enthusiasm, very strong emotion, a willingness to sacrifice. Men and women with passion outpace themselves as they go beyond mere talent, to leave their impact on society. Nigerian education needs teachers with passion – men and women with fire in their bones, impatient for lasting and enduring results. Such extra-ordinary pedagogues are people who will give themselves as ministers and missionaries in the temple of education.

Professor Issam A.W. Mohamed

The purpose of this paper is to present the role of multinational companies in general then its role in Sudan with particular emphasis on oil exploration and extraction. Chinese companies of multinationalities currently control the newly born oil industry in the country. Needless to say that the dire needs of the government because of its international isolation and sanctions compelled it to be subjected to bellow standards conditions in all economic and environmental aspects. The government accepted the conditions for the past twelve years. However, the secession of Southern Sudan into new country gives better re-negotiations opportunity to the newly …

Satyagraha As A Peaceful Method Of Conflict Resolution By Vibhuti Patel, Professor Vibhuti Patel Oct 2011

Satyagraha As A Peaceful Method Of Conflict Resolution By Vibhuti Patel, Professor Vibhuti Patel

Professor Vibhuti Patel

Conflict resolution discourse of modern problem solving and win-win [as opposed to power-based and zero sum] approaches leading to integrative conflict resolution [as opposed to mere compromise and distributive outcomes] strongly echoes Gandhi's own writings and the analyses of some Gandhian scholars. The Twenty-First Century radical thinkers of environment, human rights and women's movement advocate conflict resolution techniques as potentially being about more than the solution of immediate problems that see a broader personal and societal transformation as the ultimate goal. Gandhian Satyagraha should be squarely located within conflict resolution discourse. In this principle of non-violence, Mahatma Gandhi introduced technique …

Moving Beyond The Core Wars What Matters Most: Blending Theory And Practice To Produce Essential Learning Outcomes, Jayne M. Comstock

Jayne Marie Comstock

"Sometimes we academics are our own worst enemy. At a time when we should be focused on increasing access to quality degree attainment, we continue to derail public confidence by creating false dichotomies and pitting ourselves against each other."

Critical Analysis Of Biorhythms And Their Effect On Industrial Accidents In Agra Casting Manufacturing Units, Rohit Sharma Mr., Ranjit Singh Dr.

Rohit Kaushik Mr.

Biorhythm critical days have been suggested as a possible cause of industrial accident. Biorhythm theory postulates that variations in human abilities are governed by three consistently recurring cycles of 23, 28, and 33 days length. The study assessed the validity of biorhythm by analyzing 462 industrial related accidents in Agra casting manufacturing units in the last 5 years. A variety of biorhythm critical day definitions and accident types were analyzed. Significant results were obtained, also statistical Chi-square analysis of the data found significant influence on the computed physical, emotional, and intellectual cycles. It concluded that biorhythm theory has a strong …

Preaching What We Practice: Bringing Scope And Methods “Back In”, Miguel Centellas Oct 2011

Preaching What We Practice: Bringing Scope And Methods “Back In”, Miguel Centellas

Miguel Centellas

Recent discussions of teaching research methods have focused on understand- ing the relationship between methods courses and the broader discipline, including the need to integrate qualitative methods and other approaches beyond the traditional statis- tical approaches still common in the majority of undergraduate research methods courses. This article contributes to this conversation by arguing that the basic elements of research design and qualitative techniques should be integrated into substantive (or “non-methods”) courses across the discipline. To accomplish this aim, I offer a brief outline of methodolog- ical benchmark skills—drawn from the pool of skills necessary for a successful thesis—that can …

The Relationship Development And Learning Organization Dimensions., Yuhfen Diana H. Wu, Connie K. Haley Dr.

Diana H. Wu

This research examined the relationship among learning organization dimensions, leadership development, employee development, and their interactions with two demographic variables (gender and ethnicity) in the context of libraries. The researchers conducted a multivariate analysis of the variance to assess the differences by leadership training groups (low training hours vs. high training hours), or by gender; and by workplace training groups (low vs. high), or by ethnicity (white vs. all others) on a linear combination of the seven dimensions of the learning organization. A conclusive summary is provided along with contributive discussion. Implications and contributions to librarians are discussed in addition …
