A Solution To Einstein’S Field Equations For A Tachyonic Gas: Possible Astrophysical Applications, Kris H. Green, W. John Cocke Dec 2003

A Solution To Einstein’S Field Equations For A Tachyonic Gas: Possible Astrophysical Applications, Kris H. Green, W. John Cocke

Mathematical and Computing Sciences Faculty/Staff Publications

In this paper we show that a change in the signs of some of the metric components of the solution of the field equations for the classical cosmic string results in a solution which we interpret as a time-dependent wall composed of tachyons. We show that the walls have the property of focusing the paths of particles which pass through them. As an illustration of this focusing, we demonstrate the results of a simple simulation of the interaction between one such tachyon wall and a rotating disk of point masses. This interaction leads to the temporary formation of spiral structures. …

Much Ado About Nothing - Shakespeare Play, University Of Maine - School Of Performing Arts Nov 2003

Much Ado About Nothing - Shakespeare Play, University Of Maine - School Of Performing Arts

Cultural Affairs Distinguished Lecture Series

Shakespeare's timeless tale of fiery wit, confused identities, lost love and love scorned is Marcia Douglas's choice for spring 2004, as she brings to the stage Much Ado About Nothing. lt has been four years since the School of Performing Arts has presented a Shakespearean play, so this selection will well serve the needs of theatre students and provide students from across campus with a cultural event. This play will also appeal to the Shakespeare-appreciating public who were deprived of their dose of the Bard when the Bangor waterfront Shakespeare series was cancelled last summer.

This study examined the effectiveness of one community health adult education program targeting Hispanic older adults with arthritis, the Spanish Arthritis Self Management Education Program (SASMEP), by evaluating …
