The purpose of this project was to assist physical education teachers to acquire knowledge and expertise on ways of informing and motivating students at the middle and high school level about the benefits of motivation and exercise on personal health. The information in the project determined whether or not there was a correlation between motivational interventions, improved fitness, and performance. This project was intended to examine the perceptions of physcial educators toward the Fitnessgram that has five factors to gauge a student's abilities and the norms for each age group. The test is given to 5th, 7th and 9th grade students. The Fitnessgram as it has been enacted has become a more consistent and reliable tool for physical educators.
