An Investigation Of The Perceived Development Of The Life-Long Learning Skills Of Division I Student-Athletes, Andrew T. Goodrich Oct 2015

An Investigation Of The Perceived Development Of The Life-Long Learning Skills Of Division I Student-Athletes, Andrew T. Goodrich

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The primary purpose of this investigation was to examine the perceived development of life-long learning skills of Division I student-athletes and their non-athlete general student peers. Using grade point averages and graduation rates, athletics administrators are constantly evaluating the academic performance and growth of student-athletes by comparing their results with those of non-athlete general students. Though these traditional metrics are useful in many ways, there is little research on the self-reported development of life-long learning skills.

Due to a changing global economy, employers are less concerned with the knowledge students possess at graduation and are more interested in a student’s …

IMSA Fund Reports

As I begin my second year as IMSA’s President, I consider it not only a privilege to serve, but also a responsibility to lead well. Effective leadership is a critical element of our future success and is inspired by our Board of Trustees, senior administrators, faculty leaders and student leaders. Our leadership also extends beyond our campus in Aurora to the strong voices and ideas from across Illinois and beyond — including alumni, parents, and community leaders.

Job Shadowing Experiences As A Teaching Tool: A New Twist On A Tried And True Technique, Fred H. Mader, Deanna R.D. Mader, Elizabeth C. Alexander

Atlantic Marketing Association Proceedings

Job shadowing has a long history of utilization. It is primarily considered a way for youth to become aware of the world-of-work through programs sponsored by schools or social organizations. For example, Junior Achievement International, in cooperation with several government agencies, has sponsored Groundhog Job Shadow Day for nearly 20 years. A quick internet search for job shadowing yielded over 24 million hits with the vast majority of those focused on programs aimed at high school students. Internet offerings detail anecdotal accounts of experiences, methods for setting up and executing programs, and extolment of the virtues of shadowing as a …

Or perhaps they are not aware that they are not a violation, since they merely imitate or follow the habits of seniors or friends the same age. Then comes the question "How do they (students) do dishonesty (cheating)?" And "Why are or what background they …

An Investigation Of The Relationships Between And Among Power, Trust And Job Satisfaction Of Nurse Managers In Acute Care Hospitals Using Rogers Science Of Unitary Human Beings, Maureen A. Schneider May 2015

An Investigation Of The Relationships Between And Among Power, Trust And Job Satisfaction Of Nurse Managers In Acute Care Hospitals Using Rogers Science Of Unitary Human Beings, Maureen A. Schneider

Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)

Thus a worldview that emphasizes mutual process rather than a causal (control) view supports a culture of trust in the healthcare environment that generates a committed and a thriving work force. When nurse leaders support a climate of trust, managers develop a sense of commitment to the organization which may lead to job satisfaction. However, there is a lack of empirical evidence supporting the relationship between power, trust and job satisfaction among nurse managers.

Purpose: The …

The Role Of The Integration-Responsiveness Framework In An International Branch Campus: A Case Study, Tammy Joy Silver May 2015

The Role Of The Integration-Responsiveness Framework In An International Branch Campus: A Case Study, Tammy Joy Silver

UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones

Similar to multinational corporations, international branch campuses have the challenge of maintaining legitimacy in different cultural and regulatory environments across national borders. It is common for organizations to modify business practices when expanding operations abroad to respond to local demands and preferences based upon cultural expectations and regulatory requirements.

National culture is comprised of the underlying values, beliefs, and attitudes of a society that drives behavior and expectations (Hofstede, 1980). Differences in national culture determine the amount of local adaptation necessary to conduct business in a foreign country (Kostova & Roth, 2002). International branch campuses must also maintain quality assurance …
