Global airline strategic alliances have emerged since the late 1980s, and their number has slowly risen through the years. Will the number of such alliances continue to proliferate? Or will airlines consolidate with one another to form mega-carriers? In this paper, the likelihood of various airline consolidation and alliance development possibilities was examined based on a number of high-level trends and forces. The most probable near-term industry alliance and consolidation structure is described, accompanied with a probable path of evolution. These predictions have important implications for managers of strategic alliances, carriers who are currently in an alliance as well as …

Ohio’S Competitive Advantage: Manufacturing Productivity, Edward W. Hill Jan 2001

Ohio’S Competitive Advantage: Manufacturing Productivity, Edward W. Hill

All Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs Publications

The underlying theme of Dr. Hill’s book is that manufacturing is the connective tissue of the state’s economy. This is true in two ways: The first is in terms of the distribution of employment, and the second connection is in locations of different parts of the manufacturing production process. The key to increasing incomes in all parts of Ohio is to ensure that the products made in manufacturing production platforms remain competitive, which means vigorously pursuing public policies that enhance productivity—investing in both labor and capital.

Corporate Governance And Political Ownership, David Seong Wei Lo

Student Works (2000-2009)

This paper makes an attempt to study the concept of corporate governance in a political ownership environment. It emphasizes the relationship between political objectives and governance objectives. The paper first gives a preliminary view of corporate governance and political ownership. It investigates whether political ownership will restrict the functioning of the governance mechanism. By making a case study of several privatised firms with strong political ownership, it shows that there is a strong possibility that political objectives will undermine the governance objectives without a proper check and balance system in place. There are indications that the situation is starting to …

Over the past decade, a number of nations have restructured their electricity industries. A crucial element of the deregulation and reform in the electric industry is the creation of a wholesale electricity …

The Development Of Private Higher Education In Malaysia Over The Last Three Decades : Achievements, Challenges And Future Prospects, Santhi Ramanathan

The Private Higher Education (PHE) in Malaysia …

This paper examines why negotiations following the Framework Convention on Climate Change (FCCC) have stalled and makes suggestions on how to circumvent the obstacles.
