The purpose of this study was to determine if women administrators in higher education possess leadership characteristics consistent with those described in the feminist literature. The study identified seventeen characteristics in three categories: leadership style characteristics, decision making strategies, and conflict resolution strategies which were incorporated into a iii research survey. The degree to which women administrators in higher education possessed these characteristics was compared to their years of experience (five or less years or more than five years) and the administrative structure of their unit (heterarchical or hierarchical). Organizational culture in traditional terms, encompasses the beliefs, mores, customs, behavioral norms and ways of doing business. The theoretical research and studies conducted by practitioners and scholars such as Max Weber, Mary Parker Follett, Frederick Taylor, Chester Barnard, Elton Mayo, Rensis Likert and Edgar Schein contribute much to the intellectual framework for studying today's complex and ever changing organizations.

Purpose: This study investigated the following research questions: (1) Is board member in-service a desirable and beneficial activity for the newly elected/selected board member? (2) Should board member inservice become a mandated activity in the State of Indiana? (3) What concepts, activities, and information should be included in the in-service process? An Analysis Of Available Selection Factors For Judging The Educational Merit Of Short Duration, Out-Of-House, Management Training Programs For American Corporations, Douglas R. Loomer

The purpose of this research project was twofold. First, to determine which, if any, information items, normally known about short duration out-of-house management training programs (seminars, workshops, etc.) prior to attendance, are indicative of educational merit. Second, to utilize this knowledge of educational merit indicators to test for a difference between the educational merit of out-of-house management training programs provided by (a) academic and (b) nonacademic instructional sources.
A total of 20 program characteristics were identified as indicators of educational merit by a review of literature and/or survey of corporate training officers. Six of these 20 indicators produced a difference …
