(May 18, 2021) There are several upcoming opportunities to receive the COVID-19 vaccination on the campus of East Tennessee State University:

• ETSU Health will offer the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine on May 19, 20 and 21, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on the second floor of the D.P. Culp Student Center. Enter on the second floor entrance off of Seehorn Drive (below the third-floor ramp). This single-dose vaccine is free and open to anyone age 18 and older. No appointments are required.

JOHNSON CITY (May 17, 2021) – Twelve cadets in the Army ROTC Program at East Tennessee State University have taken the oath of office and were commissioned as second lieutenants. The new officers will serve in various branches of the United States Army.

(May 13, 2021) Cori Crocker is part of the growing and supportive Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV) community at East Tennessee State University’s College of Public Health.

Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, Crocker majored in marine science and minored in French at the University of South Carolina. When she graduated, she began looking for opportunities that married these two interests and decided to join the Peace Corps as a secondary-education volunteer in the West African country of Guinea.

JOHNSON CITY (May 6, 2021) – Seventy-three medical students received their doctoral hoods and took the Hippocratic Oath as new physicians at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine Commencement ceremony held on Thursday, May 6.

JOHNSON CITY (May 5, 2021) – East Tennessee State University’s College of Nursing is offering an online Graduate Certificate in Health Care Genetics and Genomics. The certification is designed to prepare students to utilize knowledge of genetics, genomics, epigenetics, pharmacogenetics, genetic testing and genetic counseling in their practice. It will also provide knowledge of how genetic makeup and environment may contribute to the development of common inherited disorders.

JOHNSON CITY (May 8, 2021) – East Tennessee State University continued its four-day Commencement celebration on Saturday as degrees were presented to graduates of the colleges of Nursing, Public Health, and Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences and the Clemmer College.

Study finds wording change in ACEs test could help find more childhood sexual abuse survivors

JOHNSON CITY – Could modifying the wording of a screening test commonly used to identify adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) result in identifying more survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and therefore lead to improved health outcomes for these individuals?

For the 19th year, these one-week camps will offer a variety of educational, hands-on and interactive opportunities for participants in first grade through high school, with programming based on the STREAM (science, technology, reading/recreation, engineering, arts and math) educational curriculum, which follows Tennessee Core State Standards. After holding both spring and fall commencement ceremonies virtually in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, East Tennessee State University is pleased to host ceremonies on campus for its expected 2,091 spring 2021 graduates, as well as graduates from both spring and fall 2020.
