Essays On The Influence Of Review And Reviewer Attributes On Online Review Helpfulness: Attribution Theory Perspective, Rakesh Guduru
Theses and Dissertations
With the emergence of digital technology and the increasing availability of information on the internet, customers rely heavily on online reviews to inform their purchasing decisions. However, not all online reviews are helpful, and the factors that contribute to their helpfulness are complex and multifaceted. This dissertation addresses this gap in the literature by examining the antecedents that determine online review helpfulness using attribution theory. The dissertation consists of three essays. The first essay examines the impact of authenticity (review attribute) on review helpfulness, showing that the expressive authenticity of a review enhances its helpfulness. The second essay investigates the …
Cyber Risk Exposure Through Supply Chain Information Network: An Application Of Social Network Analysis, Long Thai Bui
Cyber Risk Exposure Through Supply Chain Information Network: An Application Of Social Network Analysis, Long Thai Bui
Information Systems & Operations Management Theses
In this paper, I study the impact of supply chain information networks on cyber risk exposure. I document that firms that are more central in the supply chain information network have higher cyber risk exposure. The rapid advancement of information and communication technology (ICT) has led to increased interconnectedness within global supply chain networks. While this enhances efficiency and profitability, it also exposes these entities to systematic and contagious risks, as cyber criminals exploit the connectedness to infiltrate multiple firms simultaneously. High-profile cyber-attacks like NotPetya, SolarWinds, and Colonial Pipeline have devastating effects on organizations and pose threats to national security. …
Using Machine Learning Techniques To Model Encoder/Decoder Pair For Non-Invasive Electroencephalographic Wireless Signal Transmission, Ernst Fanfan

Affective Commitment, Mentoring, And Anticipated Turnover Among Millennials, Keiasha Hypolite
Dissertations
ABSTRACT
Millennials comprise the largest group of individuals in the workforce, yet organizations struggle to keep millennials engaged in the workplace. Millennials move from job to job, with an average stay at one employer between 12 and 18 months (Hechl, 2017). Researchers have reported that millennials cause the majority of turnover in the workplace. Globally, human resources practitioners experience difficulties retaining millennials (Sahraee et al., 2021). Previous studies have researched millennials, affective commitment, mentoring, and turnover. However, no known research has used all four factors to solve a global problem. In their discussion of the highly competitive labor market, Ramírez …
The Relationship Between Sustainable Supply Chain Management Controversies, Sustainability Practices, And Firm Performance: The Role Of Different Organizational Resources And Environmental Turbulence, Amir Naderpour
Information Systems & Operations Management Dissertations
This dissertation explores the relationship between sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) controversies and sustainability practices, and their direct and indirect effects on firm performance. SSCM controversies refer to the conflicts between companies and stakeholders due to the negative impact of the company's activities on different pillars of sustainability throughout the supply chain. I study the direct relationship between SSCM controversies - measured by indicators in the Sustainalytics database (Tamayo-Torres et al., 2019) – and future sustainability practices. Using resource-based view, and the influence of investments in other resources on this relationship, I posit that the relationship between SSCM controversies and …

Simulation Modeling For Robust And Just Public Policy Decision-Making, Jack Mitcham
Simulation Modeling For Robust And Just Public Policy Decision-Making, Jack Mitcham
Graduate Doctoral Dissertations
Public policy decision-making is challenging for several reasons. First, the outcomes of pulling a public policy lever are often deeply uncertain because of the complexity of the social and physical systems involved. Second, even if outcomes can be predicted, there are multiple points of view to consider, and the same outcome can be viewed anywhere from very positively to very negatively by different stakeholders. Because of this, public policy decisions should be both robust and just. Robustness helps with the uncertainty in outcomes and justice helps with differences in worldview. In this dissertation, I employ system dynamics and agent-based simulation …

Empowering Older Adults With Their Information Privacy Management, Reza Ghaiumy Anaraky
Empowering Older Adults With Their Information Privacy Management, Reza Ghaiumy Anaraky
All Dissertations
Literature depicts a deficit-based narrative around older adults and their technology use, suggesting that older adults are not able to keep up with their younger counterparts in adopting new technologies. In this dissertation, I argue that this view is not necessarily accurate or productive. Instead, I argue that the deficit is in the technology design, which is not inclusive and often caters to the needs of younger adults.
I study older and younger adults' privacy decision-making as a showcase. To study the privacy decision-making process with more granularity, I used a dual-route approach (decision heuristics and privacy calculus) to disentangle …

A Digital Leadership Lens For A Physical World: Digital Transformation Levers Of Control For Incumbent Companies, Michael J. Seals
Dissertations
A new wave of advanced technologies is disrupting companies of all types and transforming business models within every industry. Long-standing industrial firms that rose to prominence in a pre-digital economy are particularly vulnerable. Prevailing views suggest these companies (hereafter referred to as incumbents) must reimagine their value propositions and transform themselves by leveraging today’s advanced technologies. The opportunities provided by these advanced technologies will significantly affect incumbents whether they participate or not. The pursuit of these opportunities, commonly referred to as digital transformation (DX), is the focus of our research.
Traditional technology-enabled business endeavors creating incremental operational improvements fell within …
