An Analysis Of The Effectiveness Of Air Force Information Management Officer Training Based On The Perceived Needs Of Current Information Management Officers, David P. Biros, Stewart J. Cole

The purpose of this study was to determine if the computer orientation courses provided Air Force information managers are properly focused. This study found that the courses have made the desired impact and, with minor exceptions, information managers perceive then-selves to be more knowledgeable after the training. From the results of the survey it is apparent that information managers are more knowledgeable of computers than they were in a study completed in 1988. The officers who attended training after the course was modified to include computer orientation were much more satisfied with their training than previous graduates. They indicated a …

Four investigative questions guided the project: 1. What effect has automation of skilled jobs had on workers in the civilian community?; 2. This thesis compared vehicle maintenance training between the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and a leading civilian training organization, Cuyahoga Valley Joint Vocational School (CVJVS), using benchmarking. First, the study identified the USAF and civilian automotive training industries conduct training. Next, the researchers identified common areas for comparison between training programs. Then, the industry leader's best practice was identified. The best practice at CVJVS as the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) certification process. In applying this practice at Chanute, the researchers identified three deficient areas, or negative gaps. The first gap was in the number of hours of instruction. The …

There are more than 4,000 Air Force (AF) sites requiring restoration due to hazardous waste contamination. The AF goal is to completely restore all sites by 2000. One method of achieving this ambitious goal is to use in-house capabilities. This study examined the potential use of RED HORSE capabilities and training activities to assist with cleanup of contaminated sites. RED HORSE capabilities and training requirements were compared to the primary cleanup needs of the AF. One finding of this study suggests cleanup of sites contaminated by volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) is the primary need of the AF. The findings also …

The implications of strategy, environmental uncertainty, and leader attributes to the performance of organizations have been the subject of many research studies. The traditional interaction-based contingency approach that has typically been used in the management literature for examining the interrelationships between these variables, may very often be inadequate to capture the overall pattern of fit among them. The first, is to organizations providing logistic support for the Air Force mission and is the Operations and maintenance area. The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of implementing the Acquisition Professional Development Program on the Air Force Institute of Technology. APDP is part of a DOD-wide effort to decrease inefficiency in the procurement process. The program encompasses a tri-level certification process based on experience, training, and educational standards. APDP serves as a guideline for professional development of acquisition personnel from entry to senior level management.
