“Baby boomer,” “millennial,” and “Generations X and Z” are all familiar terms referring to the different Western cultural generations beginning from the late nineteenth century. And as they all signify a period of time in history, there are an array of associated ideas, beliefs, and traditions that come along with each. This research paper serves to explore how design and social media platforms can best cater to audiences of all generations, taking into account the differences in interests, opinions, and tendencies of each. Through observations and studies, it’s most effective to approach the audience in an attitude that is equally …

Assessing Integenerational Programs Through Market Research, Rohit Kartha '22
2020 Intern Reports
Intergenerational is an adjective that describes something that involves or affects several generations. Intergenerational programs are programs which increase interaction and exchange between people of different generations. There are several benefits of intergenerational programs. Some include generating a sense of purpose for the older adults, reducing a sense of isolation for them, as well as members from each generation learning new skills. Most importantly, younger generations better understand the aging process and learn how to face their own aging more positively. As time progresses, more and more people are understanding the benefits and importance of intergenerational collaboration and as this …

Differences In Opportunity Evaluation Between Corporate And Independent Entrepreneurs., Alireza Aghaey
Differences In Opportunity Evaluation Between Corporate And Independent Entrepreneurs., Alireza Aghaey
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Opportunity evaluation is a critical step in the process of entrepreneurship and is the main precursor to entrepreneurial action. This is true for both corporate entrepreneurs and independent entrepreneurs. However, these two groups may evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities in different ways because they operate in different contexts and have different decision-making schemas. In my dissertation, I use an “entrepreneurial cognition” perspective to explore such differences. By using two major theoretical lenses – i.e. resource availability and tolerance for uncertainty – and employing a conjoint experimental design, I compare and contrast decision policies of corporate and independent entrepreneurs captured in real time. …

In the effort to develop future generations, cooperative entrepreneurship plays a significant role. This type of entrepreneurship increases its members ' economic and social interests and brings significant benefits to the community and society. Co-operative is a prominent way to generate job opportunities and reduce unemployment without relying on wage jobs, especially among young people, due to capital sharing and low risks when starting a business. The Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE) has implemented school cooperatives since 1968 in fostering the entrepreneurial spirit, which seeks to promote entrepreneurial experiences and youth development. Hence, the primary purpose of this paper is …

The Impact Of Competition From Venture Capitalists On Corporate Venturing Investment, Marco Bade
The Impact Of Competition From Venture Capitalists On Corporate Venturing Investment, Marco Bade
The Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance
This study proposes a model on corporate venturing (CV) investment and examines the impact of venture capital (VC) activity in the economy on CV firms’ investment. The presence of VCs creates competition for entrepreneurs. This reduces CV firms’ expected venturing returns, and thus gives rise to a financial disincentive to CV investment. The empirical prediction of this result is that competition for talent should decrease CV investment. This prediction contradicts previous statements in the theoretical literature on CV.

The ongoing community service program has not provided optimal and sustainable outcomes that can improve the creative economy sector as a partner, especially in the era of technological disruption. This study describes the importance of setting up a creative economy clinic at the university, which is based on the needs of upscaling local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs’) performance. The discussions presented in the paper arise from a qualitative conceptual study using an instrumental case study approach, linking insights from theoretical perspectives and works across disciplines that concern the development of a creative economy clinic. The results of the …

Feeder Cattle Future Price Spreads: Opportunities To Hedge?, Elliott James Dennis
Extension Farm and Ranch Management News
First paragraph:
Feeder cattle future price spreads across all months have recovered to near pre-COVID-19 levels as quarantine restrictions and packing plant capacity issues have been mostly sorted out. For example, for the week of July 17, 2010 [sic], prices reached levels not seen since the beginning of March 2020. Pasture and corn progress are two factors that have the potential to push prices lower in the next coming months. Given current market conditions, producers have some options to lock in a margin.

An Evaluation Of Three Online Chatbots, Mahesh Vanjani, Jamison Posey, Milam Aiken
An Evaluation Of Three Online Chatbots, Mahesh Vanjani, Jamison Posey, Milam Aiken
Southwestern Business Administration Journal
Chatbots enable machines to emulate human conversation. While research has been done to examine how human-like communication with chatbots can be, heretofore comparisons of the systems with humans have not accounted for abnormal behavior from the users. For example, the people using the chatbot might be lying or trying to, in turn, imitate a computer’s response. Results of a study comparing transcripts from three chatbots and two humans show that student evaluators were able to correctly identify two computer transcripts, but failed on one. Further, they incorrectly guessed that one of the humans was a chatbot. The study also presents …

House Banks In Out-Of-Court Reorganization: Evidence From Austria, Stefan Mayr, Christine Duller, Kerstin Stumbauer
The Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance
The main purpose of this article is to study the role of house banks in out-of-court reorganization. Banks are traditionally one of the most important financial resources for firms. Especially in financially difficult times like those we now face due to the coronavirus, it can make a difference whether a bank supports its clients and accompanies firms through a crisis or not. With the help of relationship lending theory, we review the existing literature on this topic. Next, based on empirical findings from Austrian banks, we derive implications for corporate practice. The empirical study covers a sample of 658 firm …

Marriott Student Review
Waking up in the morning is difficult. The Sleep Review reported that 57% of Americans hit the snooze button and stay in bed for at least five extra minutes a day. If we struggle to motivate ourselves, how do we even begin to understand how to motivate others? Many businesses have resorted to placing large amounts of money into building fun and interactive break rooms, providing unlimited snacks and drinks, and even offering unlimited vacation days. Read this article to find out why companies should ditch the new, “innovative” way of motivating employees and turn to intrinsic motivators instead.

We investigate how different types of environmental policies and new regional environmental knowledge affect new venture creation in and financing of green (low carbon), brown (fossil fuel) and gray (unrelated to natural resources) technologies across 24 OECD countries and 293 regions over the period 2001-13. We find that new regional environmental knowledge positively impacts new venture creation in green technologies, and moderately in gray industries. Gray industries also benefit from enhanced start-up financing in regions where new environmental knowledge is created, confirming that environmental knowledge creation yields positive externalities beyond the green sector. We also find that a more stringent …
