This doctoral dissertation considers change management as it relates directly to evidence-based practices in public administration. The problem under study was the lack of scholarly research on the effect of an administrative leader’s emotional intelligence (EI) has on follower self-efficacy during change management. While startups are considered an important potential contributor to Egypt’s economic growth, they encounter myriad challenges that hinder their ability to reach their potential, sustain their market presence, and their capacity to provide decent job opportunities. Previous studies of family businesses have no common agreement on what should be the most effective and efficient approach for making decisions at different managerial levels to solve business issues. Accordingly, the main objective of this study was to understand the nature of decision-making by family members who are involved in a business in different capacities such as owners, owner managers, and managers. Locating the research in the interpretivist paradigm, and utilizing qualitative case study methods (Yin, 1994), we interviewed 24 respondents from 12 well-known family firms from different districts in Sri Lanka. Assessing Alignment Of Entrepreneurial Spirit To Job Descriptions Seeking Business Administration Or Management Undergraduates, Molly J. Wickam, Lacey R. Finley, Karla Saeger

This study assessed alignment between concepts included in current definitions of Entrepreneurial Spirit and job descriptions written by employers seeking undergraduate business administration or management degrees. In addition, a research-based definition of the Entrepreneurial Spirit was sought. A literature review generated concepts attributed to the Entrepreneurial Spirit. The quantitative conceptual content analysis examined job descriptions from Indeed. Implementation, creativity, and collaboration were concepts most appearing in job descriptions. The Marketing Manager job title contained the most Entrepreneurial Spirit concepts. Findings identified skills that are explicit in job descriptions which is useful for employers seeking Entrepreneurial Spirit in their hires.

A key challenge facing small professional service firms (PSFs) in the context of implementing human resource development (HRD) is access to resources. The use of external and internal networks represents an important means of identifying and acquiring needed resources. We utilize resource dependency and network theories to explore the types of networks used by owner-managers to acquire HRD resources and the types of resources that are acquired. We investigate these issues utilizing three case study organizations located in the Republic of Ireland and interview data from owner-managers and employees.
