Unrequited: Asymmetry In Interorganizational Trust, Melissa E. Graebner, Fabrice Lumineau, Darcy Fudge Kamal

Many studies of interorganizational relationships assume that trust between organizations is symmetric. In this essay, we explore the origins of this assumption and examine relevant quantitative and qualitative evidence from the literatures on strategy, marketing, supply chain management, and information systems. We conclude that no systematic evidence currently exists to support the assumption that interorganizational trust is typically symmetric. We explore how the possibility of asymmetry complicates interpretation of previous research on the effects of interorganizational trust. We encourage further research to identify conditions under which symmetry is likely, and offer a variety of strategies that scholars may use to …

Florida Statewide Symposium: Best Practices in Undergraduate Research
Research can provide an important means for developing and communicating innovation or changes. This poster from the Business Communication Program will discuss the need for integrating research intensive assignments into GEB 3213: Introduction to Business Communications. This presentation will outline the objectives, methodologies, and learning design of the Research Intensive course. We will report preliminary quantitative and qualitative data obtained from student participants with their perspective on the need for research skills in their future business work environments. We will discuss the benefits and future directions to improve the use of research in Business Communication and other business courses.

The Market Impact Of The Appointment Of Female Directors In Listed Companies In New Zealand, Kuan Yong David Ding, Echo Su Chen
Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business
This study examines investor reaction to the appointment of female directors in New Zealand-listed companies. Using the event study method, we ϐind that female directors tend to be appointed as independent directors rather than in a Chief Executive Ofϐicer (CEO) role. The results reveal that female board appointments are generally negatively associated with stock performance. This study captures both the gender diversity arising in New Zealand companies and the performance of stock price resulting from the reaction of investors to the different positions of female directors. Communication Technologies And Interpersonal Relationships: Some Considerations From Theology, Randy Beavers, Denise Daniels, Al Erisman, Don Lee

While the unintended consequences and high pace of change associated with technology will change the nature and types of our interpersonal relationships, Christian theology provides a lens through which we can evaluate these changes. In this paper we outline some theological principles that undergird our understanding of what God intends for relationships, as well as ways that our relationships are either consistent or inconsistent with God's intentions in terms of healthy and unhealthy relationships. We then discuss ways in which communication technology can amplify both positive and negative aspects of relationships, providing examples from the workplace. We classify the impact …
