Sustainability, Stakeholder Perspective And Corporate Success: A Paradigm Shift, Eunsup Daniel Shim

In this paper, I argue that the corporation can ‘do well by doing good’ in the long run if they take the stakeholder perspective. Corporations narrowly focused on short-term profits, can make business decisions that could be detrimental to long-run sustainability. For example, firms might not be making enough investments in Research and Development, producing potentially harmful products, and might not pay enough attention to their corporate image. The stakeholder perspective promotes ethical business decision-making and focuses on long-run sustainability by emphasizing a stable customer base, employee well-being, a better corporate image, and corporate social responsibility. الغرض من هذا البحث هو للتحقق عن كيفية استفادة الباحثين في جامعة المثنى من الانترنيت وكيف يمكن ان تؤثر في البحوث العلمية . تم توزيع (100) استمارة استبيان بين اعضاء هيئة التدريس في العام الدراسي 2013-2014 وتم استلام (96) منها. غالبية التدريسيين في الجامعة كانوا تحت سن 39 سنة وكذلك معظمهم من فئة مدرس مساعد ,وقد اجابوا بالأجماع بانهم يستخدمون الانترنيت في بحوثهم وفي انجاز رسالة الماجستير وأطارح الدكتوراه, جميعهم يمتلكون بريد الكتروني شخصي وكلهم يرغبون بنشر بحوثهم على الانترنيت.نسبة اللذين يستخدمون الانترنيت في المنزل هي 68,7% ونسبة الذين يثقون بالمعلومات التي يحصلون عليها من الانترنيت 45,8%.غالبية الاساتذة يستخدمون الانترنيت …

Over 90 percent of US universities sponsor study abroad programs. Students are encouraged to engage in such programs to enhance their educational experience and increase their global awareness in our interconnected world. However, despite these efforts, students who engage in such programs are a rarity. Only 1% of US students pursue a study abroad experience each academic year. In order to address this and make key aspects of the study abroad experience available to a wider range of students, two professors decided to link their classrooms, separated by 5,102 miles, via teleconference and create a virtual study abroad class.

The Labor Department’s 2012 consumer spending report highlighted the format taken by recent recession during the alteration of conventional tourism consumer spending habits. Consumer expenditure data concerning the transformation of travelers’ dining choices during the recession also disclosed that these new dining preferences persisted for years into the recovery period. In fact, the recorded decrease in food expenditures, from December 2007 to June 2009, was the largest inflationadjusted amount ever recorded by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The increase in unemployment to 9.3% in 2009, another recessionary change factor, reduced travel consumers’ spending levels for other travel attributes other …

The authors of this paper outline a capacity planning problem in which a risk-averse firm reserves capacities with potential suppliers that are located in multiple low-cost countries. While demand is uncertain, the firm also faces multi-country foreign currency exposures. This study develops a mean-variance model that maximizes the firm’s optimal utility and derives optimal utility and optimal decisions in capacity and financial hedging size. The authors show that when demand and exchange rate risks are perfectly correlated, a risk- averse firm, by using financial hedging, will achieve the same optimal utility as a risk-neutral firm. Based on a survey of 264 human resources professionals from 10 Society for Human Resource Management chapters in Texas, the authors investigated how human resources professionals accept online degrees compared to degrees based on face-to-face coursework for hiring and promotion purposes. If respondents were satisfied with their own online course experiences, they were most likely to view their organization as treating an online bachelor’s or master’s degree as equivalent to a traditional degree for hiring or promotion purposes. This paper looks at the use of college students in survey research. Specifically examined is the use of undergraduate business school students to generalize to adult populations of practicing managers. Some studies suggest that such generalizations are valid, while others argue that generalizations need to be undertaken with caution. The differences between particularistic research and universalistic research are discussed. The findings from a study of 69 undergraduate business majors and 67 practicing credit union managers are presented. Motivation has been defined as an emotion or desire operating on the will and causing it to act. In this respect, ‘motivations provide the motor for behavior,’ and according to Pincus, motivation as a psychological construct has played many roles as paradigms have risen and fallen over the decades (2004). To obtain a better understanding of motivation in the twenty-first century, this paper focuses on what motivation is, the role goals play in motivation, how motivation can be maintained, the impact of technology on motivation, the practical implications of needs-based motivation theories, and the concept of over-motivation.
