The study of regional business cycles and their effects in the United States, when compared with other areas of economic research, has been somewhat overlooked. Some attention has been given to the theoretical framework of regional cycles. However, empirical studies have been rare. Philip Neff and Annette Weifenbach, in their pioneering study on the subject, recognized this in 1949. George Borts, in a 1960 study, voiced sentiments similar to Neff and Weifenbach's on this point. More recent proof of the neglect of such studies can be obtained from another source, if not by statement then by implication. A current textbook …

This research tested the hypothesis that the better managed are social fraternities, the more successful they will be. The stated purpose of the study was to provide information to answer the following questions: 1) To what extent are selected management practices and principles utilized by college social fraternities? 2) Is there any significant relationship between the adherence to these managerial principles and practices and the degree of success achieved by the fraternities studied?
