Digital machine intelligence has evolved from its inception in the form of computation of numbers to AI, which is centered around performing cognitive tasks that humans can perform, such as predictive reasoning or complex calculations. The state of the art includes tasks that are easily described by a list of formal, mathematical rules or a sequence of event-driven actions such as modeling, simulation, business workflows, interaction with devices, etc., and also tasks that are easy to do “intuitively”, but are hard to describe formally or as a sequence of event-driven actions such as recognizing spoken words or faces. JetBlue commenced operations on February 11, 2000. The company was founded by David Neeleman, an extremely dedicated entrepreneur who, consistent with his Christian roots, wanted to create an airline with more humanity. Neeleman first started working at his grandfather's convenience store when he was just nine years old. The store had a heavy emphasis on customer service. On NPR’s “How I Built This” podcast, Neeleman explained that when the store didn't have something in stock that a customer was looking for, his grandfather would go to another store down the street, buy it, and then deliver it. Satya Nadella, appointed CEO of Microsoft since February 2014, envisioned Microsoft at the forefront of the video gaming competition. In September of that year, Nadella led the company in the acquisition of video-gaming publisher Mojang, popular for its world-building game Minecraft, for $2.5 billion.2 In 2015, Microsoft released Windows 10, which elevated its gaming features such as built-in support for Xbox Live and game streaming functionality. For me, it is my way of serving others, connecting with people, and sharing their stories. The paper discusses an attempt to explore and assess the economic clustering in Maharashtra by focusing on the MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) and large enterprises in six major districts, namely Konkan, Nashik, Pune, Aurangabad, Amravati, and Nagpur. Cluster coefficients, total number of workers, and other economic indicators of units were considered to understand how industries are spread and perform regionally. This paper provides an analysis of retail sales and retail trade in the state of South Dakota for the ten years 2014 to 2023. This analysis will provide information to community leaders in the cities and towns of South Dakota. Retail pull is an economic indicator that provides a measure of community’s economic health and its ability to attract shoppers, both shoppers from its own community and from other communities. A community that has a healthy retail economy is generally able to attract shoppers from its own community as well as surrounding communities.

Perceiving Less But Wasting More: The Relationship Between Perceived Resource Scarcity And Consumer Food Waste, Bonnie Simpson, Rhiannon Macdonnell Mesler, Katherine White

Management and Organizational Studies Publications

Consumers' food-related behaviors often culminate in significant food waste. Surprisingly however, limited attention has been given to psychological reasons why this occurs. Across four studies, this research suggests that, because perceived resource scarcity activates a resource acquisition goal, under conditions where product scarcity is not present it leads consumers to engage in inaccurate over-acquisition of resources (i.e., food), resulting in greater waste. Studies 1a (quasi-experimental field study) and 1b (lab experiment) test the role of perceived resource scarcity in predicting food acquisition and waste. Studies 2a and 2b are correlational and measure household food waste to demonstrate that resource acquisition …

The automotive industry is evolving due to the increasing adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs). This transition has impacted automotive vehicles and led to profound changes in the supply chain ecosystem. Through a comprehensive review of the available literature and industry reports, this research investigates the automotive industry’s transition towards EVs and subsequent supply chain transformation, focusing on the changing roles of automotive suppliers. In this paper, we assess these transformations from economic, environmental, and strategic viewpoints. In this lesson students will learn the basics of budgeting and itinerary creation to be broadly applied to any future trips. Students will spend time brainstorming locations in the world they want to visit and then attempt to build a budget spreadsheet from scratch. After more lecture and review, students complete the lesson by working in pairs to craft a sample itinerary using online resources and a budgeting spreadsheet.

It is common practice for small businesses to support their local communities through social responsibility and citizenship behaviors. Small business response to local crisis events and participation in relief efforts can serve as an indicator of the company’s awareness of community events and signal to customers their embeddedness in and commitment to the local community. Using primary data and an experimental methodology, this dissertation examines customer perceptions of small business’ response to community crisis.
