การสั่นปอด เป็นเทคนิคหนึ่งที่ช่วยระบายเสมหะออกจากระบบเดินหายใจให้เเก่ผู้ป่วย สามารถทำได้โดยใช้มือเปล่าหรือใช้เครื่องสั่นปอดสร้างแรงสั่นผ่านผนังทรวงอกลงไปยังจุดที่เสมหะคั่งค้าง ซึ่งตลอดการสั่นปอดผู้ดำเนินการต้องสัมผัสใกล้ชิดผู้ป่วยในระยะเสี่ยงต่อการติดเชื้อ โดยเฉพาะในสถานการณ์การเเพร่ระบาดของโรคติดเชื้อไวรัส COVID-19 ที่มีเเนวโน้มรุนเเรงเเละควบคุมได้ยากยิ่งขึ้น จึงเป็นความเสี่ยงในการปฏิบัติงานของบุคลากรทางการเเพทย์ เครื่องสั่นปอด ChestViBe เป็นสิ่งประดิษฐ์ที่จะช่วยลดความเสี่ยงดังกล่าวได้ โดยจุดเด่นคือ เป็นเครื่องไร้สาย ควบคุมการทำงานผ่าน Smart phone ได้ในระยะที่ปลอดภัยจากการติดเชื้อ เเละเป็นเครื่องเเรกที่มีการศึกษาเเละพัฒนาขึ้นในประเทศไทย การศึกษานี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความเป็นไปได้ในการนำเครื่องสั่นปอด ChestViBe ไปใช้ในเชิงพาณิชย์ โดยศึกษาเเละประเมินในด้านต่าง ๆ เพื่อสรุปความเป็นไปได้เเละเสนอเเนวทางการนำไปใช้ประโยชน์ในเชิงพาณิชย์ โดยเป็นการศึกษาแบบผสมผสานทั้งเชิงคุณภาพ เเละเชิงปริมาณ โดยเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากแพทย์เวชศาสตร์ฟื้นฟู เเละนักเทคนิคการเเพทย์ ด้วยวิธีการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก เเละด้วยเเบบสอบถาม ผลการศึกษาพบว่า กลุ่มตัวอย่างกว่า 99% สนใจจะใช้เครื่องสั่นปอด ChestViBe โดยเห็นว่าเครื่องจะช่วยลดภาระ อำนวยความสะดวก รวมถึงจะช่วยลดความเสี่ยง ความกังวล และโอกาสที่บุคลากรทางการแพทย์จะได้รับเชื้อโรคจากการดูแลผู้ป่วยได้ ประกอบกับผลการประเมินด้านเทคโนโลยีเเละด้านการตลาดที่เเสดงให้เห็นถึงความพร้อม จุดเด่นเเละปัจจัยสนับสนุนในการนำออกสู่ตลาด จึงสรุปได้ว่า เครื่องสั่นปอด ChestViBe มีความเป็นไปได้ในการนำไปใช้ในเชิงพาณิชย์ โดยแนวทางการนำไปใช้ประโยชน์ที่เหมาะสม คือ การอนุญาตให้ใช้สิทธิ (Licensing) เนื่องจากใช้งบลงทุนน้อย ผลตอบแทนชัดเจน ความเสี่ยงในการทำธุรกิจต่ำ และผู้พัฒนายังคงเป็นเจ้าของสิทธิในเทคโนโลยี ซึ่งเป็นประโยชน์ในการต่อยอดในอนาคต ประมาณการ ค่าเปิดเผยเทคโนโลยี (Disclosure fee) เป็นเงิน 1,040,000 บาท และ ค่าตอบแทนการอนุญาตให้ใช้สิทธิ (Royalty fee) 4.8% จากยอดขาย/ปี

JOHNSON CITY – Dr. Ingrid Luffman, an assistant professor in the Department of Geosciences at East Tennessee State University, was recently honored with a 2019-2020 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Department of Geography at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

Luffman, who graduated from UTK in 2013 with a Ph.D. in geography with a concentration in spatial analysis and watershed dynamics, received the award in the Early Career category for individuals who graduated within the past 10 years.  Awards are also given in Mid-Career (10-25 years since graduation) and Lifetime (more than 25 years since graduation) categories.

"In this study, I analyzed twenty-four statements of purpose (SPs) submitted to the Department of English and Technical Communication at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) by current and former students. My goal was to determine the applicants' shared understanding of the SP genre. Compensation structures with relatively high levels of contingent pay encouraged managers to engage in excessive risk-taking behavior at financial institutions, which contributed to the global financial crisis of 2008. The purpose of this study, guided by the theory of the firm, was to explore compensation strategies that some executives in Uganda used to support effective risk-management practices. The purpose of this grounded theory study was to explore the lived experience of foreign-born professional highly skilled employees living in the United States working for U.S.-centric organizations and the impact the interplay between their ethnic culture and the organization’s culture has had on their creativity in the workplace. Fourteen participants were interviewed and shared their experiences of creativity, providing rich stories. Using grounded theory analysis of their statements revealed five primary dimensions and five theoretical propositions. Referees are valuable contributors to the legitimacy of a sporting contest. Despite this, abuse in sport has become a growing concern and is regularly noted as an obstacle with which referees must contend. Continued abuses have been associated with referee discontinuation and have been noted as a detrimental influence in the recruitment and retention of referees. Sporting organizations, coaches, and players all feel the impact when there is an inadequate supply of referees. In this chapter the use of instant replay in the National Basketball Association (NBA) is described. After detailing the historical evolution of replay in the NBA, the chapter explores the impact of legal and illegal gambling on the expanded use of replay, followed by a section on media perceptions, an explanation of real or perceived bias amongst NBA referees, and concludes with a description of the NBA Replay Center. Conceptual replications offer robust tests of theory by subjecting the relational notions of a scientific model to evaluation using alternate instruments, treatments, and subject pools. This study performs a conceptual replication of Moody, Siponen, and Pahnila’s 2018 empirical analysis that integrated elements of eleven theoretical models to produce the unified model of information security policy compliance (UMISPC). This replication employed a substantially more parsimonious instrument, using modestly revised treatment scenarios targeted toward a U.S. audience of 218 IT professionals as opposed to the Finnish graduate students used in the original study. Christine Murdock, a standardized patient (SP) at ETSU Health, has had more medical maladies than can she can count over the past three decades – but she never gets sick of being “sick.” As an SP, Murdock’s job is to portray a realistic patient, their family member or others to recreate a scenario accurately and consistently for ETSU Health students and residents.

Empirical research studies that focus on the experiences of Latinas in executive leadership are limited. In its entirety, workforce research has overlooked how social and cultural experiences influence this group’s leadership development. This gap in research has failed to uplift the Latina executive voice and their achievements. Addressing this gap has the potential to influence distinctive workforce practices and future scholarship. Utilizing an asset-based perspective, this study presents counter narratives that intentionally focus on exploring Latina leaders’ voices. The importance of intersectional experience and social identities illustrate non-monolithic, yet aligned, experiences among study participants.
