Organizations seek to build diverse pipelines of talent comprised of individuals who can rise to attain senior operating roles (i.e., positions running large businesses within the corporation.) The 2020 HR@Moore Survey of Chief HR Officers sought to assess the level of diversity in terms of women and racial minorities in these pipelines, identify the obstacles to increasing the number of diverse candidates and strategies for successfully building diversity in these pipelines. Our results show a lack of diversity in these pipelines with 60% white males, 22% white females and no more than 5% in any other sex/race categories. CHROs primarily …

The COVID crisis impacted just about every aspect of how firms do business. We have explored through Zoom meetings and a survey of Chief HR Officers how the crisis has impacted a variety of components of executive succession. We find that the crisis caused many firms to develop business continuity plans separate from their ongoing and emergency succession plans. Going through this process may encourage firms to look more broadly and deeply into the people and roles in their ongoing succession processes. Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to test whether engaging in course service-learning projects can impact interpersonal oral communication confidence and skill development beyond that of traditional course research projects.

Design/methodology/approach – Three sections of a university management course were randomly assigned to have a service-learning team project, while the other three retained the traditional research team project. All projects were student-generated. Survey data were collected at the beginning of the semester and at the end four months later.

Findings – Results indicated that service-learning produces greater oral communication self-efficacy. For female students, service-learning projects also increased their …

Problem definition: In 1992, FDA instituted the accelerated approval pathway (AP) to allow promising drugs to enter the market based on limited evidence of efficacy, thereby permitting manufacturers to verify true clinical benefits through post-market studies. However, most postmarket studies have not been completed as promised. We address this non-compliance problem.

Academic/Practical Relevance: The prevalence of this non-compliance problem poses considerable public health risk, thus compromising the original purpose of a well-intentioned AP initiative. We provide an internally consistent and implementable solution to the problem through a comprehensive analysis of the myriad complicating factors and tradeoffs facing FDA.

The Perpetuation Of Nineteenth Century Amateurism As A British Virtue In Modern Olympic Track & Field, Katrina Marie Smith

This thesis explored the financial plight of modern track and field from a historical perspective. Historically, track and field was governed by organizations originally founded on the concept of amateurism. These organizations included the International Olympic Committee, the International Amateur Athletic Federation (now called World Athletics), the Amateur Athletic Union, Amateur Athletic Association, and amateur athletic clubs of Britain. From the mid-nineteenth century to the 1970s, amateurism dominated track and field worldwide beginning in Britain. In order to understand the financial structure of track and field historically, this thesis endeavored to examine amateurism as a British virtue.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษากระบวนการขุดลอกร่องน้ำชายฝั่งทะเลของประเทศไทยเปรียบเทียบกับพิธีสารลอนดอน 1996 ขององค์การทางทะเลระหว่างประเทศที่มีผลใช้บังคับในปี ค.ศ. 2006 และการดำเนินงานในประเทศอื่นอีก 3 ประเทศ คือ ประเทศออสเตรเลีย ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ และประเทศสิงคโปร์ เพื่อนำเสนอแนวทางการขุดลอกร่องน้ำของประเทศไทยที่มีความเป็นมาตรฐานสากลและเป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม สำหรับประเทศไทยมีการขุดลอกร่องน้ำชายฝั่งทะเลโดยกรมเจ้าท่าเป็นประจำทุกปี โดยการขุดลอกร่องน้ำนั้นมีขั้นตอนที่สำคัญ คือ การขุดลอกร่องน้ำและการขนย้ายวัสดุขุดลอก ซึ่งทั้งสองขั้นตอนนี้อาจก่อให้เกิดผลกระทบต่อสุขภาพของมนุษย์และสิ่งแวดล้อมทางทะเล ผลการศึกษาแสดงว่าแนวทางในการปฏิบัติตามพิธีสารลอนดอน 1996 และในประเทศกรณีศึกษาทั้ง 3 ประเทศ มีขั้นตอนการประเมินวัสดุก่อนที่จะมีการทิ้งเทเพื่อลดผลกระทบต่อสุขภาพของมนุษย์และสิ่งแวดล้อมทางทะเลรวมทั้งสิ้นแปดขั้นตอน ในปัจจุบันประเทศไทยยังไม่ได้เข้าร่วมเป็นภาคีพิธีสารลอนดอน 1996 แต่ประเทศไทยสามารถนำแนวทางการประเมินวัสดุตามพิธีสารลอนดอน 1996 มาเป็นแนวทางปฏิบัติการขุดลอกร่องน้ำชายฝั่งทะเล เพื่อเป็นการลดและป้องกันผลกระทบที่อาจเกิดขึ้น ทั้งนี้ในการดำเนินการอาจมีค่าใช้จ่ายเพิ่มมากขึ้นแต่จะทำให้ประเทศไทยมีการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน

งานวิจัยฉบับนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อนำเสนอวิธีการวางแผนการผลิตโดยใช้แนวคิดระบบผลักและดึงร่วมกัน พร้อมทั้งเสนอนโยบายพัสดุคงคลังทั้งในระดับสินค้าสำเร็จรูปและชิ้นส่วนการผลิต สำหรับธุรกิจ SMEs ประเภทการผลิตแบบประกอบโดยมีประเด็นที่น่าสนใจ คือ ผลิตภัณฑ์ของบริษัทกรณีศึกษามีลักษณะเป็น Make to Stock และ Assemble to Order ที่ใช้ทรัพยากรการผลิตร่วมกัน ทั้งสายการผลิต ชิ้นส่วนการผลิต และวัตถุดิบ ปัจจุบันพบความล่าช้าในการส่งมอบเกินจากที่บริษัทยอมรับได้ 11% งานวิจัยนี้เริ่มต้นจากการรวบรวมข้อมูลการดำเนินงานของบริษัทและนำมาวิเคราะห์หาปริมาณความต้องการ กำลังการผลิต และค่าใช้จ่ายพัสดุคงคลัง เพื่อใช้ในการกำหนดเงื่อนไขว่ากระบวนการผลิตควรใช้ระบบผลักหรือดึง จากนั้นจึงทำการกำหนดนโยบายพัสดุคงคลังจากการศึกษาลักษณะรูปแบบความต้องการของลูกค้า ระยะเวลานำ ความแปรปรวนที่เกิดขึ้นในแต่ละช่วงเวลา รวมไปถึงค่าใช้จ่ายที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการบริหารพัสดุคงคลัง จึงได้นำเสนอ นโยบายระดับคงคลังเป้าหมาย (OUL) สำหรับสินค้าสำเร็จรูป เนื่องจากข้อจำกัดด้านกำลังการผลิต และเสนอนโยบายปริมาณการสั่งซื้อที่ประหยัด (EOQ) สำหรับชิ้นส่วนการผลิต จากการเปรียบเทียบต้นทุนการสั่งผลิตและต้นทุนการถือครอง จากรูปแบบกระบวนการผลิตผลักและดึงรวมทั้งนโยบายพัสดุคงคลังที่นำเสนอ ได้ถูกนำไปทดสอบการจำลองการวางแผนการผลิตด้วยโปรแกรม Microsoft Excel พบว่า วิธีที่นำเสนอสามารถใช้ระบบดึงกับชิ้นส่วนแผ่นเหล็กได้ 5 รายการและสินค้าสำเร็จรูปได้ 7 รายการ นอกจากนี้นโยบายพัสดุงคลังใหม่ที่นำเสนอสามารถเพิ่มอัตราการเติมเต็มพัสดุได้ 7 ผลิตภัณฑ์ ส่วนอีก 5 ผลิตภัณฑ์ยังสามารถรักษาอัตราการเติมเต็มได้ที่ 100% ส่วนค่าใช้จ่ายที่เกี่ยวข้องกับพัสดุคงคลังทั้งหมดลดลง 29.9% หรือคิดเป็นมูลค่า 92,000 บาทโดยประมาณ

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has received plaudits from international press and organizations for their handling of the COVID-19 crisis, with some describing it as a win for China in terms of propaganda. In this essay, I explore an alternative view: That the CCP is responsible for the origin and extent of the pandemic, and that much of their perceived altruism is carefully disguised opportunism and propaganda. Facts are drawn from scholarly work and the popular press to support my arguments. This essay carries strong implications for interpretation of recent events.

This paper offers an integrated framework to systematically address routine challenges plaguing early product development for highly engineered and complex products, such as automobiles.
