The study quantifies the impact that new custom checks and Agri/SPS inspection procedures could have on agri-food supply chains. It is possible that these checks will be introduced at both EU27 and UK ports. The analysis shows the potential risks to the Irish agri-food supply chain. These risks are explained through a range of non-tariff barriers and Ireland/EU transport connectivity scenarios. There is potential for disruption in the long-established transportation routes between Ireland, the UK and Continental European markets. Direct shipping routes (i.e. links directly between Ireland and the EU26) have therefore been considered in this case. This consideration comes …

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the performance of both Islamic and conventional stocks, and to investigate whether the Islamic filtering criteria acts as a shield of protection for investors during crisis or not, based on a panel sample of 12 countries in the MENA region covering 10 different sectors from 1998-2018. Using panel fixed effect regression. We divided out sample into three periods; 1998-2006 pre-crisis period, 2007-2008 crisis period and 2009-2018 post crisis period. We conduct an experiment on the Egyptian money market by testing how volatility in interest rates and asymmetric (redemption-only) structure of money market funds (MMFs) affect investors who redeem after interest rate hikes, versus those who remain in the fund. We conduct simulations on MMFs with different durations. Given current MMF accounting treatment, results show that increasing interest rates, higher redemptions than subscriptions, and longer fund durations cause unfair treatment of investors who remain in the fund after disrupted periods. The findings of this research have policy implications to regulators of MMFs in Egypt to apply a rule similar to …

In this research, we examine the preferences of institutional investors in the Arab region. Institutional investors’ investment decisions are based on various factors or measures that are used in assessing the worthiness of a company for investment. The research uses measures for stock risk and return, financial leverage, profitability, ownership concentration and trading activity, as well as measures for company size, value, sector, and country as predictor variables for the rate of institutional ownership and analyzes the impact of these variables. This research aims to examine the determinants of service performance in higher education institutions on student perceptions. This research uses Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) in determining the factors. The construct is built based on the literature on service performance and higher education. Data were collected using a questionnaire to a state university with legal entity students in Bandung. The results indicate that there are seven determinants of service performance, namely reliability, assurance, tangibles, responsiveness, access, and reputation. The total variance of these factors is 65.7 percent, which means that the seven factors determine 65.7 % of service performance in higher …

Growth in urban areas often leads to problems such as increased traffic congestion and poor air quality. To help alleviate these issues, shared mobility networks have been launched in hundreds of cities worldwide to provide citizens with alternatives to personal autos and to other less sustainable methods of transport (Fishman, 2016; Zhang et al., 2015). Shared mobility includes carsharing, ridesharing, scooter sharing and bikesharing (SAE, 2018). This conceptual paper explores the influence of opinion leaders, the elements of credibility, and draws on endorsement literature to illustrate how opinion leaders are perceived as credible sources in the market. The paper proposes a new type of opinion leader — the celebrity expert endorser (CEE). The CEE is characterized by the typical opinion leader behaviour in the form of information dissemination and the inherent motivation to collect information to pass it on to opinion seekers. The program was initiated in 2002 with the aim of upgrading the value added of Egyptian exporters and strengthening their international market share. JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 17, 2020) – East Tennessee State University has announced a new program that provides last-dollar assistance covering tuition and program service fees as well as extensive support for incoming freshmen.

ETSU Promise Plus begins in fall 2020 and will be open to first-time, full-time freshmen eligible for the Tennessee Education Lottery (HOPE) Scholarship and the maximum Pell Grant.  In addition to financial assistance, Promise Plus offers free support to help students be successful in their pursuit of a degree.

Cultural intelligence (CQ) refers to an individual’s capability to successfully adapt to new or unfamiliar cultural settings (Earley & Ang, 2003). The purpose of this study was to gain a holistic and comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon of CQ within the context of higher education pedagogy. This study explored undergraduate students’ perceived outcomes of CQ based on their participation in full semester courses that embedded short-term international travel (SIT). They had no experience in any aspect of show business, their county was in a remote mountainous area far from major highways, and many of their fellow citizens objected to the subject of the play. But the show went on anyway.
