Discrimination Against Employees Without Covid-19 Antibodies, Debbie N. Kaminer
Discrimination Against Employees Without Covid-19 Antibodies, Debbie N. Kaminer
Publications and Research
Policies that favor those with immunity to a contagious disease are a novel concept and have not been used in recent United States history. It is important to think about the legal and policy issues associated with banning employees without immunity to Covid-19 from the workplace and the appropriate balance between an individual’s right to work and the public health of the nation. In doing so, it is useful to compare these policies to immunization laws, mandatory retirement laws and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Assessing The Market Niche Of Eurasian Rail Freight In The Belt And Road Era., Xu Zhang, Hans-Joachim Schramm
Articles
This paper presents an overview of the recent development of Eurasian rail freight in the Belt and Road era and further evaluates its service quality in terms of transit times and transport costs compared to other transport modes in containerised supply chains between Europe and China.
A trade-off model of transit time and transport costs based on quantitative data from primary and secondary sources is developed to demonstrate the market niche for Eurasian rail freight vis-a-vis the more established modes of transport of sea, air, and sea/air. In a scenario analysis, further cargo attributes influencing modal choice are employed to …

Is Tuition Free College The Golden Ticket? A Time Series Analysis Of Germany’S Higher Education Policy, 1990-2017, Hannah Wolfram
Business and Economics Honors Papers
Countries which have been able to offer free tertiary education are being applauded while the United States tries to find a way to rectify its high tertiary education costs. Germany has accomplished a system of subsidized higher education since the 1950s, making it seem highly successful. In order to investigate the potential benefits of subsidized higher education, this study uses a time series regression analysis to investigate the relationship between tertiary unemployment rate and public spending as a share of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Germany over the period 1990-2017. The regression analysis corrected for multi-collinearity and serial correlation, …

#Thirsty4change: Bubble Tea Goes Sustainable, Singapore Management University
Social Space
The global bubble tea market was valued at US$1.96 billion in 2016 and is projected to reach US$3.21 billion by 2023. However, the bubble tea craze comes as a heavy price to the environment. Since plastic cups and straws—used to contain and consume the drinks—are non-biodegradable, most of these end up in oceans and cause severe harm to animals that mistake the plastic for food. Used bubble tea cups also cannot be placed into “Plastics”-designated recycling bins as they contain too much liquid and leftover “pearls”, usually made of tapioca. To date, there have been efforts to address bubble-tea-related waste, …

Q2s Enhanced Pedagogy: Developing Critical Listening Skills In Business School Students To Enhance On-The-Job Performance, Matthew Habich
Q2S Enhancing Pedagogy
A common complaint heard from many business managers and executives is that while recent business school graduates are relatively well-equipped for the technical aspects of their jobs, they often lack critical communication-related skills, thus limiting their organizational effectiveness. This article describes feedback received from a group of Southern California business executives indicating that "active listening" is one of the most important of these communication skills - and one often lacking in recent business school graduates - and offers one classroom exercise that can be used to help students practice this critical communication skill.

The Effect Of Faculty Leadership Style On The Results Of Student Evaluation Of Teachers, Sadeq Sohrabie
The Effect Of Faculty Leadership Style On The Results Of Student Evaluation Of Teachers, Sadeq Sohrabie
Theses & Dissertations
Higher education administrations use Student Evaluation of Teacher (SET) frequently as a performance metric for instructors and professors. Many decisions are being at least partially made based on SET results such as recruiting, retention, and promotion decisions. SET has been subject of many studies but just recently leadership style is being studied as a factor affecting SET. Research shows instructors’ transformational leadership in classrooms can lead to more effective and efficient classrooms, which in turn yields higher student satisfaction and academic gains. In this Study, the relationship between SET and transformational/transactional leadership style has been examined using structural equation modeling. …

The purpose of this 2-year case study in the Kingdom of Morocco was to understand the entrepreneurial cognitive and behavioral processes expressed in the creation and expansion of a venture by American owners and Moroccan and American team members. The study used an interpretative design and narrative analysis methodology to develop themes. In the first phase of the study, I interviewed the co-founders and associates to learn to what extent the five principles of effectuation theory and other entrepreneurial cognitive processes played a role in the first few years of the school’s creation. In the second phase, I worked in …

It's All Greek To Me: Greek Membership Impacts At Bryant, Stephanie Souza
Honors Projects in Information Systems and Analytics
A large aspect of student life for college campuses across the country includes Greek Life, whereby students must gain membership and are initiated into a secret society style of organization. Upon expansive research and thorough analysis of the field focused on Greek involvement implications, impacts, and outcomes, there were many conflicting conclusions across studies that had a wide variety of differing input and control factors. With little definitive and holistic research that could reflect all colleges and chapters of Greek Life, this project takes specifically to the climate of Greek Life at Bryant University. Many studies primarily focus on the …

Mitigating Global Supply Chain Risk In The Fashion Industry, Danielle Nikosey
Honors Projects in Global Supply Chain Management
Purpose – Many supply chains offshore manufacturing to countries such as China to take advantage of low-cost labor, substantial capacity, and expertise. Such low-cost country strategies create supply chain complexity and therefore increase risk potential. Using the fashion industry as a context, this study examines criteria that the fashion industry considers to mitigate risk when selecting their international suppliers.
Methodology – The primary data collection for this paper consisted of an extensive literature review and in-depth qualitative interviews with supply chain professionals of fashion companies. A variety of different businesses and professionals were studied for this research.

A Cord Of Three: A Phenomenological Study Of Linkages In Interdenominational Interactions In Northwest Wyoming As Informed Through Network And Social Exchange Theories, Timothy N. Gray
Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)
This study explores pastors’ interactions in a rural regional network through Network and Social Exchange Theories. With the increasing need to understand the life experiences of network actors, a qualitative based approach is utilized. The results provide in-depth and contextually sensitive results that traditional quantitative-based techniques cannot. Open-ended interviewing allowed the participants to share their lived experiences, identifying the rhythms of boundary spanning behaviors. This offers hope for those seeking to understand the intricacies that orchestrate groups of people coming together in synergistic relationships. From a biblical understanding, a Cord of Three is not easily broken, and this study reveals …

A Quasi-Experimental Study Of Socio-Economic Effects Of Social Enterprise Vocational And Education Training Programs In Myanmar, Trisha Bailey
Business as Mission Theses and Dissertations
Sustainable economic development is a challenge in bottom of pyramid (BOP) communities, such as those in Myanmar, where people live in subsistence conditions. Contributing factors are the lack of vocational training and education available for BOP community members. The UN and the OECD are rallying the organizations around the world, including social enterprises, to address the challenge of increasing sustainable economic development. Social enterprises are businesses that address social and environmental challenges while creating economic profit. Some social enterprises offer vocational and education training (VET) in the BOP communities in which they operate. The problem addressed by this study is …

Although there is much interest in these programs among companies today, efforts to realize the benefits are still embryonic and face many challenges. Of companies who have launched programs, many have been around for three years or less and …
