This project discusses the different areas in which the Western Michigan University Stallions hockey club can improve their organizational structure. Being a part of the club from 2015 – 2019, I saw the tremendous amount of growth that the club had throughout Western Michigan University and the hockey world, but also understood that there was much room for improvement. By addressing these issues and offering solutions of improvement, the club will have a strategic direction to move forward with and implement.

Advertisements play an important role in nearly everyone's life. Every single day people view a wide range of advertisements. With the population of America becoming more and more diverse in terms of race it would make sense that advertisements would reflect that same concept. However, it does not appear that advertisements actually reflect this idea. In the 2010 ads for the Super Bowl, only four out of the sixty-seven featured an African American in an ad. The shipping industry is a global business and the number of privately-owned ships represents the strength of the shipping industry. However, global trades and the shipping business today are in poor economic shape. The more ships a company owns, the greater the burden on shipping operators. Under-Reaction In The Sovereign Cds Market, Yaqing Xiao, Hongjun Yan, Jinfan Zhang

The sovereign CDS market has been growing rapidly in recent years, with a gross notional amount of around 2 trillion dollars in 2015. We document a strong momentum effect in this market. Its unique feature is that this momentum strategy returns are positively skewed and higher during recessions. Hence, this effect cannot be attributed to momentum crash risk or exposure to business cycles. Our evidence is consistent with the interpretation that the effect is due to investors’ initial underreaction to sovereign credit information followed by corrections, especially during public announcements of credit rating or outlook changes of the underlying countries.

The Impact Of State Fiscal Policy On States' Resilience Entering The Great Recession, Kathy A. Paulson Gjerde, Peter Prescott, Jennifer Rice

Scholarship and Professional Work - Business

The U.S. economy entered the Great Recession in December 2007 and exited in June 2009. This national statistic obscures a wealth of state-level data shedding light on the policies and conditions that helped some states withstand that recessionary shock for a time. In this study, we used that state-level data in a parametric regression model, known as survival analysis, to estimate the effects that a state’s fiscal policy had on the timing of its entry into the Great Recession. Consistent with earlier, more general, studies focusing on economic growth, we found that taxes have the potential to hasten the start …
