Effects Of The Dimensions Of Quality Of Work Life On Turnover Intention Of Millennial Employees In The U.S., Julie Lewis

Voluntary employee turnover, or quitting jobs, in the U.S. has been steadily increasing since 2009. This study investigated the relationships among the dimensions of quality of work life (QWL), job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and turnover intention among millennial employees in the U.S. It sought to determine whether statistically significant relationships existed among these variables. The study tested a model of the relationships among the aforementioned constructs using structural equation modeling with the IBM^® SPSS^® Amos 25.0 (SPSS) software package.

Wireless networks are becoming the norm in the society, where hotspots afford users access to the internet through mobile devices. Unknown wireless networks, open public networks with unknown identity, pose threats as hackers can gain unauthorized access to users’ private information stored in their mobile devices. Despite the imminent dangers, individuals continue to use these networks. This study explicates a self-regulation theory to investigate the antecedents of deficient self-regulation (DSR) and its effects on habitual use of technology. How much should we pay to remove the interdependence of biased information sources? This question is relevant in both statistics and political economy. When there are many information sources or variables, their dependence may be unknown, which creates multivariate ambiguity. One approach to answer our leading question involves use of decoupling inequalities from probability theory. We present a new inequality, designed to cope with this question, which holds for any type of dependence across information sources. Although conscious consumers flock to sustainability-branded restaurants and grocery stores to "vote with their forks" for environmental sustainability and vibrant local economies, workers in these industries face the same poverty wages, discrimination, and exploitative labor practices that plague the food service and retail industries at large. Despite rapid growth and labor degradation, low-wage workers in these industries have largely been left behind by the mainstream labor movement and the alternative food movement. Child labor (CL) has been found to enhance substantially the poorest households' chances for short-term survival. CL could also - it has been argued - facilitate CWs' socialization and development of moral values and survival skills. This article aims to demonstrate that these short-term benefits are considerably outweighed by the corresponding long-term detrimental repercussions on CWs' health, education, and earning potential in adulthood. While the poorest households might strategically employ CL as a last resort to ensure their short-term survival, it is CL per se that maintains these families in extreme poverty through the impediment to CWs' human capital accumulation, …

JOHNSON CITY (July 16, 2019)—Iris Kamgue, a first-year student at East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, was honored when she found out that her application for a national diversity scholarship was successful.

“To be selected as one of the five students is quite unbelievable,” said Kamgue, who was awarded by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and CVS Health as a recipient of an $8,000 CVS Health Minority Scholarship for Pharmacy Students. She was chosen from among nearly 400 applications across the country.

To protect themselves against deskilling and obsolescence, professionals must periodically revise their claims to authority and expertise. Although we understand these dynamics in the broader system of professions, we have a less complete understanding of how this process unfolds in specific organizational contexts. Yet given the ubiquity of embedded professionals, this context is where jurisdictional shifts increasingly take place.Drawing on a comparative ethnographic study of human resources (HR) professionals in two engineering firms, we introduce the concept of jurisdictional entrenchment to explain the challenges embedded professionals face when they attempt to redefine their jurisdiction. Both anecdotal and empirical evidence suggests a relation between cultural norms and illegitimate corporate behaviour. The mechanisms through which cultural norms exert effect on corporate behaviour include socialization, learning and networking, and employee selection. Being among the most significant elements of traditional Chinese culture, alcoholic drinking is the prime lubricant for social interactions and often serves to facilitate business dealings and exchange of favours. Our common recognition of leaders and leadership reveals an assortment of men and women, some who are who predisposed to service, some who are humble but forthright, and others who exert narcissistic tendencies coupled with authoritarian attitudes. Leadership is a dynamic process in which an individual influence other to contribute to the achievement of an assigned task. This paper investigates leadership behaviour and its impact on construction workers’ performance in Lagos, Nigeria. Purposive sampling technique was adopted to select 50 site-supervisors and 250 construction-workers involved in simple construction works. An investigation was carried out using a questionnaire survey method. The leadership variables investigated were ranked, regressed and correlated to workers performance. From the primary data analysis, leadership behaviour exhibited by supervisors were found to influence the site workers commitment to achieving the goal of the construction projects. …
