People are frequently exposed to products and services that are labeled natural (e.g., Nature Made Vitamins or GoJo Natural Orange Hand Cleaner). The frequency with which this label is used suggests that it delivers an advantage in marketing and sales. Our review examines the preference for and perception of naturalness and reveals that people have a bias for items described as natural in many domains including foods, medicine, beauty products, cigarettes, and lighting. These preferences abound even when the natural item is identical or not objectively better than the non‐natural or synthetic item. We believe this bias may be driven …

This paper investigates the impact of trade openness and financial openness towards informationefficiency of the ASEAN countries’ stock market. The sample consists of the five most developedstock markets in the ASEAN region – Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, covering research period of 2000-2014. This study employs panel data analysis in the model. The result suggests that, when Singapore is excluded from the sample, de facto trade openness has a negative impact on information efficiency, while de facto financial openness has a positive impact on information efficiency. This study investigates the information flow between U.S. Dollar-Ringgit spot, forward and Nondeliverable Forward (NDF) exchange rates during the pre and post-U. S. Quantitative Easing (QE) exit. Our results show: First, there is a robust unidirectional causality from NDF to spot and NDF to forward in the post-QE period; Second, Malaysian Government Securities (MGS) has a vital role during the QE period while international reserve precedes the spot, forward and NDF exchange rates in the post-US QE exit. Our results reaffirm the policy measures taken by the Central Bank in regulating the NDF market. Our finding suggests that: First: MGS …

This paper identifies factors determining capital structure and estimates the speed at which firmsadjust to optimal debt in Malaysian and Indonesian manufacturing firms. It uses the difference Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimator and the partial adjustment model in a sample of 141 Malaysian and 96 Indonesian firms, which include many of the major manufacture companies in these economies. The results suggest the existence of dynamic capital structure in both countries, but differences in adjustment speed towards optimal debt and factors affecting the optimal debt levels are evident between these countries. We investigate the systemically important banks in the Indonesian financial system usingMultivariate GARCH Conditional Value at Risk (CoVaR). The systemic risk measurement, ΔCoVaR,defined as the change from CoVaR in its benchmark state as a one-standard-deviation event to itsCoVaR under financial distress. We estimate the systemic risk contribution using 21 commercialbanks from January 2007 to December 2018. Our study reveals that the top five ranking systemicbanks are dominated by state-owned banks, and its ranking is consistently the same in the periodbefore, during, and after the global financial crisis. This study aims to examine the effect of working capital, Return on Assets (ROA), and Return on Equity (ROE) on corporate income tax. The population of this study is mining companies, and the total sample was involved is thirty-six companies. Servant Leadership: Theory & Practice

This quantitative correlational research study examined if a relationship existed between perceived servant leadership behaviors of fire and emergency service leaders and employee job satisfaction in fire and emergency services personnel. The study involved n= 205 participants who completed the Organizational Leadership Assessment and the data were analyzed using Spearman’s correlation. The results showed that there is a statistically significant relationship between servant leadership and employee job satisfaction in fire and emergency services personnel.

Servant Leadership: Theory & Practice

This study examined the possible influence of servant leadership in NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics. Using a survey research design, 326 athletic department employees were asked to provide their perceptions of their athletic directors’ servant leadership characteristics and respond to questions on trust in leader, turnover intentions, and job satisfaction. Results from structural equation modeling suggested servant-leaders significantly and positively impacted perceptions of trust in leader and job satisfaction. Additionally, there was a significant effect of perceptions of servant leadership on turnover intentions as mediated by job satisfaction. Despite ongoing efforts by universities, challenges and tensions continue to exist in academic discourse, policy and practice around graduate employability. These factors can militate against the sector’s capacity to prepare learners for life and work, because they promote unclear, and sometimes counterproductive and competing, courses of action. This article suggests that higher education institutions’ approaches to graduate employability reflect at least three aims. The aims relate to: (i) short-term graduate outcomes; (ii) professional readiness; and (iii) living and working productively and meaningfully across the lifespan. The commitment to each of these aims is often tacit and ill-defined and varies within …
