The Ghanaian Cedi has recently experienced persistent depreciation against it's major trading partners. This paper investigates the role inflation and monetary policy plays in the persistent depreciation. The paper makes use of the ARDL and Bounds test of co-integration as well as the Toda & Yamamoto (1995) Augmented Granger Causality test to determine the long and short run dynamics of the impact of monetary policy and inflation on exchange rates in Ghana, using data ranging from 1970 to 2017. The paper finds short-run depreciation effect of contractionary monetary policy on the exchange rate, reflecting the exchange rate puzzle. The long …

Despite its reputation as a lower-income and vice-ridden region, the Old Eighth Ward was a thriving place for businesses, both large and small. In fact, much of the neighborhood’s reputation for unhealthiness was a result of the prominent industries that called the ward home. One such factory was W. O. A printing plant was purchased by the University of Maine in 1915 and with it the University of Maine Press (later to become the Printing Office and now known as Printing & Mailing Services) was founded. In 1967, the Printing Offices moved to a new building attached to a wing of the Public Information and Central Services (now known as the Keyo Building). Over time the Service has seen a number of technological advances, particularly in printing equipment used.
