The location of distribution centers is an important strategic decision in supply chain design, particularly as it relates to service quality, productivity, and profitability of the firm. There has been extensive research performed on distribution location models which require the use of complex algorithms and assumptions that make use of these models difficult in practice for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that have limited capital and resources. Studies have also failed to capture and quantify potential business results of using more sophisticated methods. We often talk about buying low and selling high, but many individual investors often do the opposite. Particularly in retail accounts and 401(k) plans, investors are often "late to the party," waiting until the market hits a high to reenter. This behavioral bias results in momentum that may drive the market higher, but how long is the key question. Further, investors would be better suited taking a more disciplined periodic investment approach. With the market just hitting a high, this issue is currently at play. (See article here, WSJ.)

American "populism" has had a major impact on the development of U.S. corporate governance throughout its history. Specifically, appeals to the perceived interests of average working people have exerted enormous social and political influence over prevailing conceptions of corporate purpose - the aims toward which society expects corporate decision-making to be directed. Although a great deal of research has established personality differences between leaders and their followers (Lord, de Vader, & Alliger, 1986) there has been little research on how leaders at different levels of organizations may differ from one another. In particular, no research to date has examined whether or not there are personality differences between those who are first in command of their organizations and those second in command.
