For a second year, the organizer of the Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival (CNSJF) commissioned the Dick Pope Sr. Institute for Tourism Studies (DPITS) to prepare a report on perceptions of attendees of the festival. Additionally, the project investigated the value of the event as well as the economic benefits the event brings to Curacao. A survey instrument was designed and used to assess the perceptions of perceived value of event attendees. The survey was completed during the event which was held September 2-3, 2011. A total of 400 surveys was collected and analyzed by DPITS. The survey revealed that …

The Turnover Intentions For Construction Engineers, Kuo-Shun Sun

Journal of Marine Science and Technology–Taiwan

This study looks at the effects of job satisfaction, organizational commitment and individual factors on turnover intentions of construction engineers. It makes use of samples of the construction engineers from the engineering design department of Taiwanese engineering consultant companies. From the results of a logistic regression analysis, normative commitment as well as job satisfaction were found to significantly impact construction engineers' turnover intentions.

A little further up the road, the chiseled buildings of Western Reserve Academy, founded in 1826, dot the landscape. Red-bricked shops make downtown window shopping a weekend event. If Jimmy Stewart showed up as George Bailey, residents wouldn’t bat an eyelash. In any scientific discipline, the ability to portray research patterns graphically often aids greatly in interpreting a phenomenon. In part to depict phenomena, the statistics and capabilities of meta-analytic models have grown increasingly sophisticated. Accordingly, this article details how to move the constant in weighted meta-analysis regression models (viz. “meta-regression”) to illuminate the patterns in such models across a range of complexities. Although it is commonly ignored in practice, the constant (or intercept) in such models can be indispensible when it is not relegated to its usual static role. Option pricing is a tool that investors often use for the purpose of arbitrage or hedging. However, both the BlackScholes model and the CRR model can only provide a theoretical reference value. The volatility in the CRR model cannot always appear in the precise sense because the financial markets fluctuate from time to time. Hence, the fuzzy volatility is naturally to be considered. The main purpose of this paper is the application of fuzzy sets theory to the CRR model. The notion of knowledge internalization (KI), albeit a critical link in Nonaka's (1994) organizational knowledge creation theory, has not been rigorously conceptualized and defined, let alone operationalized. To strengthen the foundation for knowledge management (KM) research, we attempt to fulfill the following research objectives in the three essays of this dissertation. In the first essay, by drawing from Anderson (1983)'s ACT (adaptive control of thought) theory and Glaser et al. (1985)'s framework on the dimensions of cognitive skills, we develop the construct of KI and demonstrate its nomological validity by examining its role in knowledge sharing phenomenon through its relationships …
