Like business travel, where the primary focus is on business and travel is the simply the conduit by which it is performed, medical tourism is a growing trend in which individuals journey to foreign countries primarily to secure specific medical procedures or health benefits. The medical tourist is a newly defined segment of the travel industry, and while still small in numbers, is growing rapidly. My remarks this morning will be focused on the question whether the European Union (EU) membership has helped or hindered the East and Central European (ECE) countries in coping with the recent global financial crisis. Before I delve into this question, let me suggest that the economic structure and institutions that the ECE countries had inherited from the Soviet dominated political relationship in the 1990s were quite different from the well established economics of the Western European Countries (WECs). After three years of difficult trading conditions Irish tourism needs to move towards recovery. Given that we are waiting next month for one of the toughest budgets in the history of the state, talk of recovery might seem a little premature. Nevertheless we know that economic conditions in some of our key source markets abroad continue to improve, and so consumer sentiment in these countries is likely to recover faster than here at home. Despite spectacular achievements on the economic front: achieving growth rate of 6 percent annually for over four decades, tripling its per capita income and drastically declining the incidence of poverty from almost 50 percent of the population to less than 20 percent by the late eighties although it has resurged to 34 percent by the late nineties. However, we are still a poor and underdeveloped country and the benefits of this progress have not been shared universally.

The purpose of this psychological phenomenological research was to understand the efficacy of life coaching from the perspective of academic leaders. To date, not one investigation or attempt has been made towards the above stated purpose. This study includes a theoretical overview and a review of the coaching literature from Socrates (469-399 BC) to current day Humanistic theory presented in part by Roger (1902-1987). This process included data collection from five academic leaders who have been coached for at least two years. The present research examines the effect of leadership style (classical, transactional, transformational, and dynamic) and employee’s participation on employee’s perception of justice (distributive, procedural, and interactional justice). It is proposed that different leadership styles are expected to display different effects on employee’s participation and perceptions of justice. Moreover, employee’s participation in decision making process is predicated to positively influence his/her perception of justice.

The purpose of this study was to examine leisure patterns and meanings of leisure among families in the developing East African nation of Uganda, in response to recent calls for more non-Western leisure studies (Chick, 1998; Iwasaki, Nishino, Onda & Bowling, 2007). The three focus questions answered in this study were: (a) what do Ugandans from the Mukono District think leisure is? (b) how is family leisure, in their terms, happening? and (c) in what ways do they think family leisure is important? The Main Determinants Of Bollywood Movie Box Office Sales, Marc Fetscherin

The Indian film industry produces more movies and sells more tickets than any other movie industry, with revenues second only to those of the US film industry. We employ a two-by-two research design using a set of multiple regression analyses for two different countries of destination for Bollywood movies for two dependent variables. By examining data and testing our hypotheses on a sample of 330 films, we identify effects related to brand, product, distribution and consumers on opening week as well as total box office sales both individually and collectively. Previous research demonstrates that individuals’ network positions in their surrounding social structure of relations influence the extent of their output and performance. The unique situation of minority groups complicates the relationship, however, as issues of status, legitimacy, and marginality influence the flow and interpretation of information and resources. While several scholars have addressed differences in male and female networks in the workplace, the association between macro-level work arrangements and the micro-level interaction mechanisms of minority groups is unclear. A collaborative project is described. Students in a web design class were asked to contact local businesses and help them create their web site (collection of related and interconnected web pages). Two phases of the project are described, planning and implementation. Planning defines the purpose and the target audience and also includes a sketch of the website's organization. The project is suitable for both traditional and online classes. Ideally, session participants should have some experience or interest in teaching web design but anyone who wants to know how to help students work collaboratively with the community is welcome to attend.
