Personality Traits Effects On Job Satisfaction: The Role Of Goal Commitment, Wai Kwan (Elaine) Lau

Management Faculty Research

The present research investigates the effects of personality traits, self-efficacy and locus of control, on job satisfaction. It also examines the mediating impact of goal commitment on relationships between personality and job satisfaction. The results indicate that self-efficacy and locus of control are positively related to goal commitment. Goal commitment is positively associated with job satisfaction. In addition, locus of control is fund positively related to job satisfaction while self-efficacy does not have such relationship with job satisfaction.

To consider designing and developing leadership programs for women in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it is important to understand how current leaders have learned to lead throughout their lives. In-depth, qualitative interviews were conducted with Arab women leaders (government and business) to investigate their lifetime experiences in developing leadership.

Her only topic was transportation, and she discusses the railroad, bus, steamboat, and trucking lines that serviced Bowling Green, Kentucky as well as upcoming postal airline service. She notes the amount of fuel sold and the number of service stations located within the city in 1929.

Since developing leadership is seeded in learning, there is a continuous effort to understand the most effective methods and techniques to assist individuals in becoming leaders. The purpose of this engaging workshop is to offer a variety of innovative tools that both academics and practitioners can use with adult learners in various settings to help them further develop leadership knowledge, competencies, and skills through enhanced reflection experiences.

Green Brand Extension Strategy And Online Communities, Heikki Karjaluoto, Patrali Chatterjee

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine current and prospective consumer perceptions, purchase intent and parent brand evaluation due to green brand – line and category extensions by marketers of established (non-green) brands for products with high vs low perceived environmental impact. Design-methodology-approach The paper analyses responses to online surveys by 602 pet-owners at social networking websites. The quasi-experiment considered perceived environmental impact of core product, parent-brand user status, and green extension strategy (line vs category). Brand extension evaluation, purchase intent, and parent brand evaluation were then measured. Findings Results suggest that consumers are more likely to purchase …

The purpose of this study was to examine the interactive effect of price and price deal. Specifically, we want to measure how consumers' behavioral intentions toward the brand are affected for a high-priced brand and a low-priced brand when a price deal is offered.

Values Of Females And Males In The East And West: Are They Similar Or Different?, Edward Francis Murphy, Regina A. Greenwood, Arnel Onesimo Uy

HCBE Faculty Presentations

Understanding whether cross-cultural values are similar or different has become more important in an increasingly global marketplace. Yet, few studies have explored cross-cultural sex–based value structures. This study examines the values of 5,134 male and female working adults in three Eastern nations (Japan, Philippines, and Thailand) and three Western nations (United States, United Kingdom, and Iceland). For similarities, males and females more highly valued personal than social terminal values. For differences, males in the East more highly valued self-actualization/competence instrumental values. Females in both geographic groups placed higher importance on social terminal values than did males, supporting prior research.

Worker Control As A Facilitator In The Match Between Education And Jobs, Johanna Weststar

Management and Organizational Studies Publications

This article examines the relationship between worker control and subjective underemployment among workers who have more education than is needed for entry into their jobs (credential underemployment). Results indicate that social and technical controls are related to a greater sense of education–job matching. Workers who have credential underemployment are less likely to report subjective underemployment (underutilization and lack of fit between education and job) if they have higher levels of workplace control. This article contains implications for job design and the role of employers and managers in fostering the utilization of their workforces.

This critical analysis reviews literature on characteristic leadership traits desired in leaders by male and female supervisors. The majority of the literature on leadership has focused on the characteristic leadership traits most admired by supervisors as it relates to organizational culture without distinguishing gender. The assumption that both gender groups have similar beliefs is perceived when there is a lack of clarity in the literature.
