Ethics has become a critical topic for HRD scholars and practitioners (Aragon & Hatcher, 2001). There are greater numbers of publicized ethical breaches among members of the business community during the past decade than ever before. It has become clear that there is a growing need to re-examine the ethics of specific strategies employed in all kinds of organizations (e.g., business, government, non-profit, education) throughout the world (Wilson, 1993). To consider designing future efforts toward developing leadership programs for women in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it is important to understand how these women learn most effectively. In-depth, qualitative interviews were conducted with Emirati students at a women’s college in the UAE to investigate their learning backgrounds, perceptions, and transformational learning experiences while students. Additional interviews were conducted with faculty and staff to provide insights into many of the issues, challenges, and experiences the students discussed. Leadership development for women has recently emerged as an important focus of researchers and practitioners in many countries across the globe. Generalized F-Tests For The Multivariate Normal Mean, Jiajuan (John) Liang, Man-Lai Tang
Marketing and Quantitative Analysis Faculty Publications
Based on Lauter's (Biometrics, 1996) exact t test for biometrical studies related to the multivariate normal mean, we develop a generalized F-test for the multivariate normal mean and extend it to multiple comparison. The proposed generalized F- tests have simple approximate null distributions. A Monte Carlo study and two real examples show that the generalized F-test is at least as good as the optional individual LÄauter's test and can improve its performance in some situations where the projection directions for the LÄauter's test may not be suitably chosen. Just when it seems that the drug issue in sports is about to slip out of the headlines, and just when it seems that the revelations about steroid use in baseball are coming to an end, something happens. This time an Olympic Gold Medal collector is photographed filling those massive swimming-developed lungs from a bong. Then the man who was going to remove Barry Bonds from the top of the home run charts and make any asterisks irrelevant is hung out to dry by another leak of confidential information from a sealed grand jury report.

Futility Of Stimulus Funds In The Middle Of Huge Trade Deficits, Narendra C. Bhandari

The U. S. is facing an unprecedented environment of increasing unemployment, declining income, disappearing middleclass, and mounting trade deficit (about $731 billion in 2007). The government is providing stimulus funds to a selected number of organizations to help solve these problems. However, as long as the country continues to have huge trade deficits, these stimulus efforts may not help much, if at all. They may even worsen the economic situation. This could happen if the banking, insurance, construction, transportation, and other companies—receiving the stimulus funds—would offshore part of their production activities.
