The purpose of this study was to investigate the opinions of police officers in regards to satisfaction with ethics training. The participants in this study were police officers in city/municipal and county law enforcement agencies. Ethics training is very important in the field o f law enforcement because of the many temptations that officers face and the tremendous amount of authority that society gives to the police. In order to investigate officer’s satisfaction with ethics training, the Ethics Training Questionnaire (ETQ) was developed. This questionnaire contained two parts. The Internet has changed the way many organizations, including public and private schools, recruit and select employees. It has also changed the way many people research and pursue employment opportunities, including those seeking positions in education. The school Web site is often the medium of first contact between a school or school district and a potential employee. That first contact can influence the potential employee’s decision to actively pursue employment with a school or a school district.

This capstone course extended the classroom to include practitioner-focused research projects and presentations to senior-level campus management. The course served as a student learning laboratory for experiencing working-world settings, problems, and expectations, using the controlled environment of a college human resource management office, working with the Director of Human Resource Management. Learning outcomes included 1) effectively using multiple business communication skills, 2) applying quantitative and qualitative reasoning for problem solving to integrate, synthesize and apply complex information for addressing practical problems; 3) experience in adapting to a real-life, changing environment, and 4) making management decisions that reflected the dynamic interrelationships …

The use of sexual appeals in advertising is increasingly prevalent in the United States. Perhaps the use is in response to the preponderance of advertisements in everyday life. The advertisements most often featuring such appeals are for image-based products. Actual images in ads can often convey emotions powerfully, which may explain the frequent use in marketing image-based products. These products include: candy, liquor, cigarettes, jewelry, fragrance, cosmetics and fashion goods. It is advertisements for products such as, but not limited to these, that often use sexual appeals. Hidden inside the library of the American Textile History Museum in Lowell, Massachusetts is wonderful resource for the study of late nineteenth-century America. When Ann Eliza Cunningham was middle aged, she compiled a sewing diary that included scraps of material from dresses she wore or China trade fabrics brought home by her father. Ann Eliza not only included assorted swatches; but she associated the fabrics with different events in her life. She includes swatches from dresses she wore on her wedding day in 1856, for Thanksgiving, and for various family celebrations like birthday parties. Similar to the work of a …

Internal audit quality is an issue of great importance to both the internal and external audit professions. PCAOB Auditing Standard No 2 highlights this importance when addressing the reliance that the external auditor can place on the internal audit work product. The study discussed here experimentally tests the influence of the source of the internal audit function on both the internal and external auditors' evaluation of the quality of the internal audit function. Over the past decade, much of the organizational literature has used age-associated stereotypes and the age context of jobs to explain the occurrence of age discrimination against older workers (e. g., Cleveland & Landy, 1983; Cleveland & Shore, 1992; Goldberg, Finkelstein, Perry & Konrad, 2004; Gordon, Rozelle & Baxter, 1988b; Rosen & Jerdee, 1976). Place attachment refers to the process of human-place bonding; the bonding process includes both physical and social ties formed within an environment. This dissertation engages in a detailed investigation of the dimensions of place attachment within a service environment by drawing on literature from human ecology, environmental psychology, sociology, services research and various other disciplines. The research seeks to establish place attachment as a multidimensional construct consisting of affective attachment, place identity, place dependence, and social bonds. The North American economic system cannot be meaningfully visualized in terms of trade among three nations. A more accurate and useful map would focus on the elements of deep structural integration that distinguish the North American economy—on continental production, distribution and supply chain systems characteristic of many North American industries, on emerging cross-border regional development projects, and on "trade corridors" that link major transportation and production hubs. Obtaining an MBA degree is an expensive and time-consuming process. The cost is ameliorated, however, if a tax deduction can be taken. Although many in the business community believe they are entitled to deduct the costs of obtaining an MBA, the fact of the matter is that a deduction is not a certainty. There have been numerous litigated cases concerning whether a deduction for the cost of an MBA should be allowed. After first providing the meaning of psychological capital (PsyCap), we present a micro-intervention to develop it. Drawn from hope, optimism, efficacy, and resiliency development, this PsyCap Intervention (PCI) is shown to have preliminary support for not only increasing participants’ PsyCap, but also financial impact and high return on investment.
