International Journal of Tour Guiding and Visitor Attraction Research
Building on past research on tour guides and guiding, this paper provides an in-depth examination of the safety management role of tour guides leading adventure trips. A review of previous literature identifies broad dimensions of tour guiding and, within these dimensions, specific guiding roles mainly in relation to communication. The current study’s qualitative examination of experienced Arctic guides, however, illustrates how environmental conditions contribute to near misses and points to safety management as an adventure guide’s fundamental role. This study examines challenges faced by subsistence women entrepreneurs during COVID-19, the crisis of 2020, and their resilience in addressing the circumstances. The results of qualitative interviews with 13 subsistence marketplace women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh are presented in this article. In the current study, two themes are found to best capture the experiences and resilience of women business owners in the subsistence marketplaces. Furthermore, the study provides important insights from informant interviews, showing how women business owners navigate their operations during a pandemic. It highlights attributes such as relational strength and faith in a higher power that contribute to their …
An Analysis Of Wage Determinants And Gender Wage Inequality In The Daily Labor Market Of Bangladesh: A Quantile Regression Approach, Al Mamun
Arab Economic and Business Journal
This study investigates wage determination and gender-based wage disparities in Bangladesh's daily labor market using HIES 2010 and 2016 datasets and OLS and Quantile Regression methods. Results reveal a substantial gender wage gap, with females earning 22.9% less than males in 2010, increasing to 62.2% in 2016. The gap lessens across quantiles, indicating a sticky floor effect in both years. Various determinants, including human capital and social factors, affect wages differently. Policy implications underscore the need for equal pay advocacy, shared familial responsibilities, and targeted interventions to rectify gender-based wage disparities. This study investigated media framing of environmental issues in Jordanian digital newspapers. The study employed a media survey approach with content analysis of 335 journalistic articles published on the websites of three major Jordanian newspapers (Al-Ghad, Al-Dustour, Al-Rai) from January 1, 2022, to June 30, 2022. Multi-stage sampling ensured representativeness. Results showed all three Jordanian digital newspapers addressed environmental issues, with Al-Ghad leading (40%), followed by Al-Dustour (31%) and Al-Rai (29%). The study found a diversity of sources in journalistic treatment (officials: 29%, news agencies: 18.5%, journalists: 12.8%). The study aimed to determine the extent to which university students in Hebron Governorate rely on social media platforms for coverage of the October 7th war. This study follows descriptive research, using a media audience survey methodology. Data were collected using a questionnaire administered to a random sample of university students in Hebron Governorate, consisting of 211 students. The study reached several conclusions most notably: that the reliance of university students in Hebron Governorate on social media to follow news about the war on Gaza is high, with a percentage of 69.5%. The wormhole attack is a persistent security threat that threatens the integrity of network communications, potentially leading to data theft or other malicious activities. While various methods exist for combating wormhole attacks, our approach offers advantages that set it apart. The study aimed to identify the role of Jordanian television programs in raising awareness of mental health from the perspective of psychiatrists. The sample of the study was composed of 153 members from the Jordanian Association of Psychiatrists affiliated with the Jordanian Medical Association. The rapid technological advancements in the hotel industry, particularly the adoption of AI-powered robotic concierge services, have transformed guest experiences. However, these services often overlook the diverse needs of neurodivergent individuals, a significant and underserved market segment. This qualitative user experience (UX) study explores the challenges faced by neurodivergent guests and identifies opportunities to enhance inclusivity and accessibility in robotic concierge services. Through in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 20 neurodivergent individuals, key issues emerged, including difficulties in effectively communicating needs, sensory overload from overwhelming environments, and a lack of customizable service options. Plastic pollution is a growing global concern. In response, South Korea implemented the deposit scheme in June 2022 to regulate plastic waste and promote recycling, selecting Jeju Island as a pilot city. For the successful implementation of this initiative, residents' participation is important. This research examined how residents' environmental concerns, threat and coping appraisals, and temporal distance influenced their intentions to participate in the deposit scheme based on Protection Motivation Theory. With 414 resident responses, this study used Structural Equation Modeling and Latent Moderated Structural Equation Modeling to analyze the data. The research aims to analyze the relationship between monetary policy tools and the structure of domestic debt in Iraq based on the multiple regression model after testing the stability of the series under study using approved tests based on monthly data (2016-2024). This study explores the complex area of tax compliance in Lebanon, using the principles of behavioral economics and nudges as intervention tools. The central problem is to understand how nudges can positively influence the tax behavior of Lebanese taxpayers and improve tax collection. This study tends to investigate how can nudges modify taxpayers' tax behavior in Lebanon. To achieve those objectives, questionnaires were administered to a randomly selected sample of 500 Lebanese taxpayers.
