JOHNSON CITY (Dec. 4, 2020) – East Tennessee State University will host a virtual Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2020 on Saturday, Dec. 12.

This ceremony honoring the university’s August and December graduates will be streamed live beginning at 10 a.m. at etsu.edu/classof2020. For a more personalized experience, graduates and their families and friends will select and stream a specific ceremony for their college or academic program. Viewers may also stream the ceremony and arrange a watch party on the ETSU Facebook page (facebook.com/easttennesseestateuniversity).

JOHNSON CITY (Dec. 2, 2020) – East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy student pharmacist Chandler Parton (’22), of Fall Branch, Tennessee, has earned a prestigious, merit-based scholarship from the American Indian Graduate Center. He is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Tribe.

This is the second year in a row Parton has earned the $20,000 Science Post Graduate Scholarship from the American Indian Graduate Center.

JOHNSON CITY (Dec. 2, 2020) – Dr. Jonathan Moorman of East Tennessee State University was recently awarded a $330,000 Biomedical Laboratory Research and Development Merit Review Award by the Department of Veterans Affairs to study immune responses to COVID-19. 

The project, “Characterizing trained immune responses to COVID-19,” was one of 18 funded studies awarded from a pool of 104 applications received from VA Medical Centers across the country.

The objective of this thesis paper is to answer the question: is robotic process automation efficient/beneficial and should accountants consider its implementation? For accountants, robotic process automation is a software that “perform[s] tasks such as processing sales and financial transactions, managing data, communicating between different systems, and access management, as well as monitoring and reporting” (Seasongood, 2016). The manner by which courts view performance appraisals in relation to the outcome of case is certainly a topic worthy of discussion. Utilizing the framework used within the work of Werner and Bolino (1997), the following study was able to accomplish two main goals: (1) update the information of Werner and Bolino (1997) by evaluating modern cases, and (2) to evaluate new data regarding age discrimination utilizing the same framework as Werner and Bolino (1997). ELIZABETHTON (Dec. 1, 2020)  – The East Tennessee State University Center for Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology at the Nave Center underwent extensive renovations this year, expanding services offered at the interdisciplinary, interprofessional clinic located in Elizabethton.

This facility has served as an academic space for ETSU since 1976 and has transformed over the years into an interdisciplinary clinic with multiple areas of practice that serves community health care needs and educates ETSU students who are pursuing a variety of careers in the rehabilitative and diagnostic health sciences.

JOHNSON CITY – The Street Medicine Interest Group (SMIG), a new student organization at East Tennessee State University, is building bridges with community partners to help people who are experiencing homelessness overcome barriers to health care.
