Some commentators have predicted that the disruptive effects of the COVID-19 pandemic will transform the landscape of higher education in the United States. For example, Scott Galloway, Professor of Marketing at NYU Stern School of Business, predicts that most U.S. colleges and universities will either “go out of business or become a shadow of themselves.” Professor Galloway argues that the few elite universities that survive will enter into corporate partnerships with Big Tech companies such as Google, Apple, and Meta. The mothers received workshops and booklets consisting of information, quick and healthy recipes, and learned how to prepare home-made meals with a low budget. The purpose of the current study is to explore the factors that influence sexual health decisions of female Latina immigrants with low socioeconomic status in an urban area. We aimed to evaluate the possible preventive steps to lower their risk of contracting STDs. The need for this study was highlighted by research findings that suggest that health disparities among Hispanic immigrants have had a significant impact on their poor quality of life due to lack of proper access to medical care and misdiagnosis due to differences in risk factors and manifestations of the disease. The purpose of this study is to examine mental health stigma within the sociocultural context shared by members of the Panamanian population. Mental health stigma is complex because it manifests itself differently according to the cultural context in which it is experienced. Culture informs individual beliefs, behaviors, and attitudes regarding how a person should live within their immediate household and within society. This social conditioning is accomplished through a variety of means, including the passing down of social norms, traditions, and customs. (Aug. 2, 2023) Expectant mothers and those who have recently delivered a child have better access to medical breastfeeding assistance thanks to new TennCare coverage brought about through the efforts of an ETSU Health provider.  

ETSU Health’s Director of Lactation Services, Gloria Dudney, successfully petitioned the state to cover lactation consultations through TennCare Medicaid, CoverKids and TennCareSelect, effective June 1, 2023. Patients of these programs may now receive medically appropriate outpatient services from in-network providers during pregnancy and through the extended postpartum period.

After nearly 16 years in accounting positions at East Tennessee State University, Ashley McBee has been named comptroller, a position in which she manages all accounting operations at the university.

McBee joined the university in 2007 as an accountant and was later promoted to the positions of assistant director of financial accounting and director of grant accounting.

Aug. 1, 2023 – Rapper and electronic pop songwriter Flo Rida, indie-pop duo DOUBLECAMP and rising country singer-songwriter Graham Barham will headline the Student Government Association Fall Music Festival at East Tennessee State University.  

The music festival, embracing three different genres, is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, at Freedom Hall Civic Center in Johnson City.

After years of tireless work to secure state funding for East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, ETSU celebrated success at a luncheon recognizing and thanking local legislators for their efforts.

Earlier this year, the Tennessee General Assembly approved $2.5 million in annual funding – the first state assistance for the college since its founding in 2005. Those funds enabled ETSU Gatton College of Pharmacy to lower tuition for its students, beginning this fall.
