JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 8, 2021) – East Tennessee State University’s Center of Excellence for Appalachian Studies and Services announces that the Archives of Appalachia and B. Carroll Reece Museum have received $225,000 in funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The funding will support a project to enhance online access to collections and artifacts that document diverse voices in southern Appalachia.

Impact Of Organizational Support On Faculty Commitment To Academic Accreditation In Higher Education Institutions, Yasser F. Hendawy Al-Mahdy, Nesreen Salah El-Din, Aisha Al-Harthi

International Journal for Research in Education

The study aimed to identify the degree of perceived organizational support (POS) of faculty members and their commitment to academic accreditation (CTAA). Then, it explores the effect of POS on CTAA, gender, nationality, and administrative positions on them. Participants included a convenient sample of 221 faculty members from Sultan Qaboos University in Oman. Data analysis included measures of central tendency and structural equation modeling to conduct confirmatory factor analysis and build regression models. Results showed moderate degree of faculty POS and high level of CTAA. Significant gender difference is also observed for POS, with male faculty members showing higher POS …

Abstract This research project explored the effectiveness of experiential learning programs within college education for producing long term, deeper understandings of the subjects being taught. To analyze the effects of experiential learning on students, a literature review and synthesis of previous experiential learning studies and research was conducted. Win-At-All-Costs? Exploring Bottom-Line Mentality As A Buffer Between Athletic Director Servant Leadership And Coach Commitment, Matt Robinson, Jun Woo Kim, Marshall Magnusen, Mitchell Neubert

Journal of Applied Sport Management

Servant leadership (SL), characterized by enduring qualities of genuine caring, humility, and empathy, has been positively associated with numerous leader effectiveness outcomes (e.g., employee satisfaction) across sport and non-sport settings. This study addresses the need to more thoroughly investigate follower characteristics that may allow servant leadership to be more (or less) effective in a sport context. Drawing from leader-member exchange theory, this study predicted head coach bottom-line mentality (i.e. 1-dimensional, win-at-all-costs attitude) would negatively impact the relationship between athletic director SL and head coach commitment. Whitfield, who will graduate with his Master of Social Work in May 2022, would not have been able to attend ETSU if not for the late Dr. Angela Radford Lewis, an ETSU administrator who served as vice provost and special assistant to the president for strategic initiatives at ETSU before her death in 2019.

All proceeds will benefit the Willow Unit at Woodridge Hospital, which is a 12-bed unit offering inpatient psychiatric care to children and adolescents in a caring, comfortable environment. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – East Tennessee State University recently received a report that reveals student voting increased significantly during last year’s presidential election, rising from 46.8% in 2016 to 64.3% in 2020 for a total 17.5% increase overall. 

The report comes from the Institute for Democracy & Higher Education (IDHE), founders of the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement, or NSLVE.
