The Bald Soprano: An Anti-Play follows the events of a traditional couple who invite over another couple, and are later joined by their maid and the maid’s lover. The characters engage in meaningless banter that becomes even more nonsensical as time goes on.

In this adaptation the actors play the actresses’ roles and the actresses play the actor’s roles.

In 1998 Marianne Weems and The Builders Association, in collaboration with the architects/media artists Elizabeth Diller and Ricardo Scofidio, presented JET LAG, a cross-media project that was ahead of its time. JET LAG is based on two overlapping true stories about eccentric individuals who manipulated time and space, turning their travels into a new kind of escape. In 1969 an ambitious sailor set out on a round-the-world sailboat race only to discover that he could “win” by simply sending radio reports of his false travel times while sailing in circles off the coast of South America. Does Montclair State’s resident string quartet ever rest on its laurels? Banish the thought. The Shanghai Quartet and celebrated pipa virtuoso Wu Man perform the world premiere of Lei Liang’s Five Seasons, commissioned by the Quartet. The program also includes Beethoven’s Quartet op. 18, no. 3; Schumann’s Quartet op. 41, no.1; and Wang Huiran’s “Dance of the Yi People,” performed on the pipa.

This 60-minute performance set within Christopher Janney’s 36-column sound and light installation Everywhere Is the Best Seat will be a unique experiment in live and MIDI-triggered sounds. Moving from environmental music to R&B and jazz, Janney and friends create an immersive musical experience, exploring the “hidden music” of sound as part of and detached from the instruments and performers who make them. Special guests include Dave Revels and Jimmy Hayes of The Persuasions, Stan Strickland, Wes Wirth, Jerry Leake, and Eddie Grenga.

An overwhelming number of contemporary adolescents struggle with difficult issues. Many of these problems are socially related whereas others can be directly related to the degradation of the family unit. Among the most damaging of issues is distorted body image, which infect youth, often causing them to communicate aggressively, and even landing them in compromising situations. I have sought to challenge my students to redefine themselves through expressive movement and the creation of abstract rhythmic sounds. Recent advances in sound technology have had significant implications for the teaching of voice and speech that are only now becoming apparent. As more students become “plugged in” it becomes more difficult, both for the instructor and the student, to communicate, let alone find a voice. Don’t Dress For Dinner centers around Bernard and Jacqueline, a not-so-happily married couple, both of whom are having extramarital affairs. As Jacqueline prepares to go out of town to visit her mother, Bernard invites his mistress and Robert, his best friend (and also Jacqueline’s lover, unbeknownst to Bernard), over for the weekend. He’s even hired a Cordon Bleu chef to cater the evening. Jacqueline discovers Robert is coming to town and cancels her trip, causing Bernard to panic. The purpose of this study was to empirically evaluate Building-Based Teams for General Education Intervention or BBT for GEI. BBT for GEI is a team problem-solving process designed to assist schools in conducting research-based interventions in the general education setting. Problem-solving teams are part of general education and provide support to students with academic or behavioral concerns by creating individualized interventions that teachers can use in the classroom. Historically, problem-solving teams’ two primary goals were to reduce referrals to special education and improve student performance on academic or behavioral concerns. Dance specialist Rebecca Enghauser (2003) has emphasized that, in the dance class, motor learning begins when the student replicates the movements presented. Demonstration is usually a necessary accompaniment to verbal instructions, suggesting that dancers routinely engage in multiple learning styles, including visual, auditor/, and kinesthetic. Enghauser also addressed "random practice," where movement appears in different combinations that then produce better and longer-lasting skill learning. Therefore, relating similar movement from different disciplines should help produce long-term learning. The analysis required when processing these similar, although perhaps outwardly different, movements provides additional and more enduring learning opportunities. The overall goal of this research is to make precisely controlled transgene constructs to target genes in zebrafish and facilitate their functional studies. Many of the previous transgenic techniques (e.g. morpholino) can only produce transient gene expression or inhibition, which is not good for long-term studies. Also, transgenes that randomly integrate into the chromosomes are typically difficult to control and are poorly regulated. Thus, it would be of great benefit to develop a reversibly controlled transgenic tool to help study gene function.
