This project entailed background research of Arthur Miller and his works, casting, designing, and direction, and post production evaluation of Marshfield High School's Madrala (Marshfiels Drama Lab) Player's production of All My Sons. The production thesis concentration includes research and analysis of the play and its literary background, evaluation of the play as a production vehicle and a discussion of the directorial concept and vision for the production.

A Midsummer Night's Dream--A Creole Creation: Directing Shakespeare In A High School Setting, Laurel Renee Kash

A full-length production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream was rehearsed and performed at Sunset High School in Portland, Oregon. The production was set in New Orleans during Mardi Gras in 1926. Research was conducted on Shakespeare's life, appropriate acting methods, and the play's historical and cultural context including lighting properties, setting, music, and costumes. Design concept statements were developed, the play was produced, and the experience was considered critically, both as an artistic production and as a learning experience.

The purpose of this project was to write a play that could be used as a teaching tool for addressing multicultural issues in educational curricula. The literature review suggests that dramatic activities can be effective teaching strategies to address multicultural and diversity issues. The one-act play, Irene, is set in a middle-class American neighborhood and focuses on the conflict within a broken home.

A Survey Instrument To Collect Student Perceptions Of Drama Class Benefits, Claudia Wiggins

The purpose of this study is to develop a student survey for a drama class. The focus of the research is to substantiate the need for teaching drama in schools and by using a student survey. Presented is a drama class student survey developed and administered in high school drama classes. Offered are interviews with two drama teachers regarding the use of a drama survey. The study concludes with suggestions for future drama class student surveys.

Federico García Lorca's short play El amor de don Perlimplín con Belisa en su jardín was translated into English with the intent to create a more actor-friendly text than found in previous translations. The introduction discusses the problems encountered in the process of translation and how they were solved.

The Hatha Yoga Acting Methodology: An Evening With Me, Oscar N. Cady

This thesis presents a systematic methodology for preparation of a "one man acting show." The show was designed to demonstrate competency in different styles of acting selected from Classic Greek Drama, Restoration Comedy, Shakespearean Tragedy, Twentieth Century American Drama. Emphasis is placed upon documented research in accordance with the methodology and rehearsals which utilized Hatha Yoga to build toward dynamic physical and mental union as a workable means to achieve character realization for live performance and creative artistry.

This interdisciplinary thesis between the Home Economics Department and the Speech and Drama Department presents a detailed study of Eighteenth Century English costume. Stage costumes were designed and constructed for a production of Oliver Goldsmith's She Stoops to Conquer at Central Washington State College. Patterns, fabric selection, and total costs are considered for the project.

Recommendations include double listing of classes to promote continued cooperation between the two departments.
