In her article "Anarcho-Feminist Melodrama and the Manic Pixie Dream Girl (1929-2016)" Claire Solomon analyzes the Manic Pixie Dream Girl trope as an apparatus of capture (Deleuze and Guattari, A Thousand). More precisely, her article models how such tropes imply modes of reading anachronistically and metafictionally that decontextualize gestures of resistance and conflate female writers, performers, and characters across time and place. Solomon offers a situated formalist reading of Argentine playwright Salvadora Medina Onrubia's 1929 drama, Las descentradas, revealing an avant-garde counterpoint of melodrama and metafiction as an ambiguous alternative to capture.

Stand-up comedy has been largely ignored by analytic philosophers of art, including those interested in comedy and humor. This is somewhat surprising, given the immense popularity of stand-up comedy and the rock star status enjoyed by some comedians today. I suspect that philosophers are just as likely to enjoy stand-up comedy as anyone else; in some cases (i.e. for some philosophers and some comedians), probably more likely. งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์และสังเคราะห์วิธีการแสดงของนักแสดงในละครเวทีประสาทสัมผัสที่เหมาะสมและสามารถเพิ่มปฏิสัมพันธ์เชิงบวกระหว่างผู้ชมวัยเด็กที่มีภาวะออทิซึมกับนักแสดงได้ เนื่องจากละครลักษณะนี้ยังไม่เคยมีผู้ใดพัฒนามาก่อนในประเทศไทย ผู้วิจัยจึงต้องออกแบบและคิดค้นกระบวนการนำเสนอละครเวทีประสาทสัมผัสก่อน จากนั้นจึงคิดค้น พัฒนาวิธีการแสดงในละครเวทีประสาทสัมผัสขึ้นโดยประยุกต์จากเทคนิคการแสดงแบบด้นสดและแนวทางการบำบัดรักษาแบบซันไรส์ ต่อจากนั้นได้นำวิธีการแสดงที่ได้ออกแบบขึ้นมาใช้ทดลองทำงานกับนักแสดง-กระบวนกร 4 คน จัดแสดงจริงกับผู้ชมกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่มีภาวะออทิซึมจำนวน 10 คน ช่วงอายุ 4 – 18 ปี ละครเวทีประสาทสัมผัสในงานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ชื่อว่า "สวนมีสุข" เป็นละครที่ออกแบบให้ผู้ชมที่มีภาวะออทิซึมมีส่วนร่วมในการทำกิจกรรมที่สัมพันธ์กับเรื่องราวและตัวละครในจินตนาการ บทที่ใช้ในการแสดงดัดแปลงมาจากนิทานภาพเรื่องกบแฮรี่ผู้หิวโหย ประกอบกับการเลือกใช้กิจกรรมละครสร้างสรรค์สำหรับเด็ก ผู้วิจัยได้ปรับเปลี่ยนพื้นที่การแสดงให้เป็นสวนเล็กๆที่มีอยู่ในนิทานภาพ ผู้วิจัยได้สร้างเงื่อนไขและจัดลำดับกิจกรรมให้ผู้ชมกลุ่มตัวอย่างได้ปฏิบัติ เล่นเป็นตัวละคร ร้องเพลง และสำรวจประสาทสัมผัสของตนเองผ่านกิจกรรมต่างๆในโรงละครตามความสนใจ กลุ่มตัวอย่างจะได้ชมละครเวที ความยาว 50 – 60 นาที สัปดาห์ละ 1 ครั้ง ต่อเนื่อง 4 – 6 สัปดาห์ ในแต่ละสัปดาห์จะพัฒนาเรื่องราวอย่างค่อยเป็นค่อยไป ในการทดลองจัดแสดงแต่ละสัปดาห์ ผู้วิจัยได้นำปัญหาที่พบและการประเมินจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญมาปรับวิธีการแสดงที่ได้สังเคราะห์ขึ้นให้มีความเหมาะสมยิ่งขึ้น ข้อมูลที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ผลได้แก่ 1) บันทึกการทำงานของผู้วิจัย 2) บันทึกปฏิสัมพันธ์เชิงบวกของผู้ชมขณะชมการแสดง 3) บทสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกผู้ปกครองของกลุ่มตัวอย่าง 4) บทสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านละครบำบัดที่ได้ชมวีดีโอบันทึกภาพการแสดง เมื่อได้พัฒนาและปรับปรุงวิธีการแสดงในแต่ละสัปดาห์แล้ว ผู้วิจัยได้เรียนรู้ว่าการเป็นนักแสดงในละครสำหรับผู้ชมที่มีภาวะออทิซึมนั้น นักแสดงจะต้องเข้าใจวิธีการสื่อสารกับผู้ที่มีภาวะออทิซึม เข้าใจลำดับกิจกรรมต่างๆ และเข้าใจบริบทของผู้ชมเป็นอย่างดี นักแสดงจะต้องมีพลังหรือคลื่นความคิด ความรู้สึกภายในที่เข้มข้นแต่แสดงออกอย่างสงบเพื่อลดการกระตุ้นเร้าผู้ชมและช่วยให้ผู้ชมสามารถจดจ่อกับการแสดงได้ นักแสดงต้องอยู่กับปัจจุบันในขณะแสดงและมีสมาธิในการสื่อสารกับผู้ชมในรายบุคคล นักแสดงจะต้องมองเห็น ได้ยิน และรับรู้ผู้ชมอย่างชัดเจนเพื่อจะสามารถสังเกตการสื่อสารทางกายของผู้ชมและสื่อสารตอบกลับได้อย่างเหมาะสม วิธีการแสดงที่ได้พัฒนาขึ้นทำให้เกิดตัวละครที่ให้อิสระและเป็นมิตรกับผู้ชม สร้างความไว้วางใจและสร้างพื้นที่ปลอดภัยให้กับผู้ชม ตัวละครจะเป็นแกนนำที่พาผู้ชมไปสู่โลกของจินตนาการอย่างค่อยเป็นค่อยไป ผลการสังเกตปฏิสัมพันธ์ในโรงละครพบว่า ผู้ชมกลุ่มตัวอย่างมีปฏิสัมพันธ์และพัฒนาการทางสังคมที่ดีขึ้นในหลายกรณี จากการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ปกครองพบว่ามีหลายกรณีที่ผู้ชมแสดงสัญญาณของความสุขและความต้องการชมละคร

In her article "The Road Trip as Artistic Formation in DeFeo's Work" Frida Forsgren discusses previously unpublished photographic material documenting Jay DeFeo's road trip in Europe and North Africa in the 1950s. Forsgren argues that the Beat road trip is by no means an exclusively masculine enterprise and quest: DeFeo's journey helped open the door to her emancipation as a female artist and propelled her artistic development. Moreover, the global experience represented by the trip helped shape her local Beat milieu upon her return to San Francisco. Burroughs's and Alexander Trocchi's representations of opiate addiction with special reference to their early writings. English examines the concept of homo heroin that can be attributed to Burroughs and lists and expounds its qualities. Among these are: immorality, criminality, mono-objectuality, self- and other-indifference, and, most importantly, the radical physical transformation into a new species, which Burroughs extends in Naked Lunch. Given Burroughs's need for collaboration as a significant part of his method of weriting, Kerouac's more solitary approach to writing, and taking into account unpublished journals and new scholarship on this subject, Weinreich explores their time together in Tangier in order to shed some light on the two writers in an "interzone" of their processes of creation.

In his article "How Burroughs Plays with the Brain, or Ritornellos as a Means to Produce Déjà-Vu" Antonio José Bonome discusses how the recurrence and significance of one of William S. Burroughs's most potent refrains, "dim jerky faraway," was inspired by its source text, Paul Bowles's second novel Let It Come Down (1952), where Tangiers-Interzone fuels the unwholesome descent of a US-American expatriate not unlike Bowles or Burroughs himself. Research studies have shown that the sense of awe evoked by natural settings may be associated with transcendental thinking about God. Similarly, other researchers have suggested that people attribute events to God when they cannot develop a sufficient naturalistic explanation for a phenomenon. People appear to prefer attributing events to a benevolent God but will modify their beliefs to assume that God is punitive if event outcomes do not appear to favor their well-being or religious attributions do not accommodate a situation. Through a generous donation to Morehead State University, research has been conducted on thousands of slides containing images of artwork and artifacts of historical significance. These images span from Egyptian hieroglyphs to the inaugural dress of every first lady of the United States. In her article "Circus as idée fixe and Hunger" Anna-Sophie Jürgens discusses circus fiction in which characters often display extreme, intense psychological traits. They are for example irascible, pyromaniac, sadistic, or megalomaniac. Particularly striking are protagonists with alternative psychological attitudes in fictional circus texts of the twentieth century such as Franz Kafka's hunger artist, Michael Raleigh's ringmaster Lewis Tully or Richard Schmitt's aerialist Garry, who can be seen as incubators of circus-related idées fixes. Megan Whalen Turner’s The Thief follows the story of a thief who seeks to steal an item for fame and glory and to save his country. Though he initially does not believe in the gods, he finds that they exist and are more involved in his life than he would want them to be. The screenplay is a loyal adaptation of the book. The analysis follows the thief’s journey from skepticism to faith and draws a comparison between the gods in the novel and the Christian God.

In their article "Toward an Aesthetics of Adaptation in Empirical Research" Marion Behrens, Christian Kell, and Pascal Nicklas discuss the requirements and potential of empirical research into the reception of adaptations: adaptation is one key strategy in the creation of literature and art in general. The creative process and product of adaptation has its counter-part on the side of reception. Empirical research into the aesthetics of adaptation aims at the experimental elucidation of the physiological background and the establishment of a model describing the perceptual underpinnings of the act of seeing an adaptation as adaptation.
