Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is a degenerative neurologic disorder that is often defined by beta-amyloid (Aβ) plaques. These Aβ plaques are formed from protein pieces that are incorrectly cleaved from an amyloid precursor protein (APP). These protein segments, cleaved from APP, are toxic due to increased “stickiness”. They cling together to create protofibrils that eventually mature into neuronal plaques. Aβ plaques lead to neuronal cell death causing classic AD symptoms: memory loss, a decline in speech and motor control, and personality changes. The current study examined the relations between maternal alexithymia and child’s negative outcomes in the form of behavioral problems and adaptive regulatory capacity, as indexed by respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA). It also explores the main and mediating role of positive emotion socialization. Participants consisted of 155 mother-child dyads within a 25-mile radius of a college in Southern California (Mothers M_age=33.1 years, SD=5.5; Children M_age=42.01 months, SD=4.68; 51% male children). The Toronto Alexithymia Scale-26 (TAS-26) and the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) were given to mothers to report on alexithymic traits and their child’s internalizing and externalizing behaviors, …

The dance project explores the crossing of borders through mixed contemporary and Mexican ballet folklorico dance styles in order to tell a story of immigrants trying, failing, and succeeding in crossing the U.S. and Mexico border. By exploring the integration of Western dance styles with Mexican ballet folklorico, this paper will analyze how Mexican identity, as expressed through dance or song, is maintained by immigrants to remain connected their culture, but is changed through the process of assimilation.

How can citizens of a moral community both be held accountable and be accountable for their actions and their character? What is the role of both the state and the citizen in restoring accountability? In this thesis, I apply Aristotle’s conception of virtue to Stephen Darwall and William Darwall’s mutual accountability framework for punishment. I present a theory of punishment that creates an obligation on both the state and the citizen to uphold virtue and be accountable, and posits rehabituation of character as a necessary component of maintaining mutual accountability. Vividly imagining the future self can help inform our present decisions. Given that most attempts aimed at understanding the prosocial effect of imagining future episodes have focused on sensory properties, little is known about how prosocial motivations can explain the link between episodic simulation and helping intentions. Here, the current research investigated whether altruistically and reputationally motivated simulation of helping behavior promote a willingness to help a person in need. The study found that imagining helping episodes increased willingness to help relative to a control manipulation, especially when reputational concerns were made salient. วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่อง การแสดงในงานเทิดพระเกียรติสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบการแสดงการวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบการแสดงในงานเทิดพระเกียรติสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช โดยศึกษาข้อมูลด้านการแสดงในงานเทิดพระเกียรติสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช ณ วงเวียนใหญ่ ฝั่งธนบุรี วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ใช้เครื่องมือในการศึกษาวิจัย ได้แก่ 1) สำรวจข้อมูลเชิงเอกสาร 2) สัมภาษณ์ ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิและบุคคลอื่น ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้อง 3) อุปกรณ์เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศต่าง ๆ 4) เก็บข้อมูลภาคสนาม ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การแสดงที่พบในงานเทิดพระเกียรติสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช บริเวณ วงเวียนใหญ่ มีรูปแบบที่หลากหลายและคัดเลือกแสดงที่มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อน้อมรำลึกถึงพระมหากรุณาธิคุณต่อสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช การแสดงแต่ละชุดนั้นมีเรื่องราวสื่อถึงพระราชประวัติของพระองค์ผ่านการแสดง หรือมีเรื่องราวที่เกี่ยวข้องในสมัยธนบุรี โดยแบ่งรูปแบบการแสดงที่พบในงานเทิดพระเกียรติสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราชที่วงเวียนใหญ่ ปี พ.ศ. 2561 เป็น 2 รูปแบบ ได้แก่ 1) รูปแบบการแสดงละคร เป็นละครอิงประวัติศาสตร์ เกี่ยวกับพระราชประวัติ ตลอดจนจำลองสถานการณ์การกอบกู้อิสรภาพสมัยธนบุรี 2) รูปแบบเบ็ดเตล็ด แบ่งออกเป็น 3 แบบ คือ 2.1 การแสดงมหรสพจีน ได้แก่ การเชิดสิงโต – มังกรทอง และอุปรากรจีน 2.2 การแสดงมหรสพไทย ได้แก่ ระบำ รำ ฟ้อน ศิลปะการต่อสู้ไทย 2.3 การแสดงดนตรีขับร้องประกอบการแสดง โดยมีสำนักงานเขตคลองสานร่วมกับสำนักงานเขตธนบุรีเป็นประธานในการจัดงานในครั้งนี้ อีกทั้งในการจัดงานเทิดพระเกียรติสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราชยังถือเป็นการร่วมกันอนุรักษ์และสืบสานประเพณีอันดีงามของฝั่งธนบุรีให้คงอยู่ต่อไป

การวิจัยในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาบทบาทการแสดงนางลิเกของครูสกุณา รุ่งเรือง โดยใช้กระบวนการวิจัยคือ ศึกษาจากเอกสารที่เกี่ยวข้อง การสัมภาษณ์และสังเกตการแสดงลิเก จากวีดิทัศน์ ฝึกกระบวนท่ารำจากครูสกุณา รุ่งเรืองเพื่อเรียบเรียงและวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล มีประเด็นในการศึกษาบทบาทการแสดงลิเกแบ่งออกเป็น 7 รูปแบบ ได้แก่ บทบาทนางเอก บทบาทนางร้าย บาทบาทนางตลก บทบาทผู้หญิงปลอมเป็นผู้ชาย บทบาทการรำเกี้ยวเข้าพระ-เข้านาง บทบาทการรำออกตัว บทบาทการรำอาวุธ จากการศึกษาพบว่าครูสกุณา รุ่งเรืองมีคุณสมบัติเป็นครูลิเกโดยมีคุณลักษณะแบ่งออก 7 ลักษณะได้แก่ 1. การประพันธ์บทและการกำกับการแสดง เนื่องจากมีประสบการณ์การแสดงตั้งแต่วัยเด็ก 2. การด้นกลอนและการเจรจาเป็นส่วนสำคัญของการแสดงลิเก ผู้แสดงสามารถด้นกลอนสดได้โดยใช้คำที่สัมผัสคล้องจองทั้งดัดแปลงโทนเสียงตามลักษณะตัวละคร 3. การออกแบบเครื่องแต่งกาย ผู้ออกแบบมีแนวคิดและจินตนาการที่โดดเด่นเป็นลักษณะเฉพาะเข้ากับผู้สวมใส่ 4. การแต่งหน้า เป็นงานประณีตที่ต้องอาศัยสมาธิและความชำนาญ 5. แสดงได้ทุกบทบาท เนื่องจากได้ฝึกหัดบทบาทของนางลิเกมา 6. ร้องและรำเป็น มีพื้นฐานมาจากละครรำ 7. แสดงลิเกได้ทั้งคืนโดยมีเสียงที่สม่ำเสมอ ซึ่งได้ฝึกฝนการขับร้องและเรียนรู้กลวิธีในการขับร้องเพื่อให้มีกระแสเสียงสม่ำเสมอ เห็นได้ว่าครูสกุณา รุ่งเรืองมีการพัฒนาบทบาทการแสดงลิเกมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง นับเป็นองค์ความรู้ที่ทรงคุณค่าสามารถต่อยอดความรู้ต่อไป

วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องละครไทยเรื่อง เฮเลนแห่งทรอย มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสร้างสรรค์ละคร ที่มีเนื้อเรื่องจากต่างชาติให้เป็นละครไทย โดยการทดลองสร้างการแสดงและทำการวิเคราะห์ผลลัพธ์ที่ได้จากการผสมผสานศิลปะทั้งสองวัฒนธรรม ระหว่างนาฏกรรมกรีกโบราณ และนาฏกรรมไทย ผู้วิจัยเลือกเรื่อง เฮเลนแห่งทรอย มาใช้ในการทดลองสร้างสรรค์เป็นละครไทย เนื่องจากมีโครงสร้างและเนื้อหาใกล้เคียงกับเรื่องรามเกียรติ์ของไทย ได้แก่การลักพาตัวและ การทำสงครามแย่งชิงสตรีผู้งดงาม โดยผู้วิจัยได้สร้างสรรค์การแสดงผ่านกระบวนการออกแบบ การกำหนดและปรับปรุงเนื้อเรื่อง การประพันธ์บทละคร การบรรจุเพลง การจัดสร้าง เครื่องสวมศีรษะเครื่องแต่งกายและอุปกรณ์ประกอบการแสดง การสร้างตัวละคร การคัดเลือก นักแสดง การฝึกซ้อมนักแสดง นักดนตรี นักร้อง ผู้พากย์เจรจา และการจัดการแสดงจริง ผลจากการทดลองทำให้ทราบว่าเนื้อเรื่องจากวรรณกรรมกรีกสามารถจัดแสดงในรูปแบบนาฏกรรมไทยได้ เนื่องจากศิลปะดั้งเดิมของไทยมีความคล้ายคลึงกับศิลปะกรีกโบราณหลายประการได้แก่ การสวมหน้ากากของการแสดงโขนและละครกรีก เนื้อเรื่องสงครามแย่งชิงสตรีในเรื่อง เฮเลนแห่งทรอยของกรีกและรามเกียรติ์ของไทย ลำดับเหตุการณ์ในเรื่องเฮเลนแห่งทรอย ซึ่งสามารถนำมาแสดงในรูปแบบโขนหรือละครรำของไทยได้ ลำดับชั้นทางสังคมกรีก กับลำดับชั้นทางสังคมในนาฏกรรมไทย ความหลากหลายของสำเนียงการออกเสียงชื่อเฉพาะ ในเรื่องเฮเลนแห่งทรอยกับความหลากหลายในการเลือกใช้คำสัมผัสในกลอนบทละครไทย และการถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวด้วยการขับร้องบทกวีร้อยกรองของกรีกกับการบรรยายเรื่องราว ด้วยการขับร้องคำกลอนบทละครหรือการพากย์เจรจาโขน การสร้างสรรค์ละครเรื่อง เฮเลนแห่งทรอย จึงเป็นการแสดงละครไทยเรื่องแรกที่นำเนื้อเรื่องจากวรรณกรรมกรีก มาจัดแสดง เป็นแนวทางให้แก่ผู้วิจัยและผู้ที่สนใจนำไปต่อยอดเป็นการแสดงที่สมบูรณ์ยิ่งขึ้น ได้ในอนาคต

This practice-led research project explored the process of devising for performance for the stage via physical theatre workshops. The research was informed by Japanese butoh dance-theatre and its two creators, Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno, and by the work of American comic Jerry Lewis. I began with exercises in group workshops derived from butoh movement practice, followed by inspiration drawn from Jerry Lewis’s performance and directorial work in his films, and from Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. This essay considers whether tap dance might be categorized as a kind of feet- and body-created jazz percussion rather than as a musical form of dance. Its focus is thus primarily ontological, although there is much to be said about the experience and value of tap dance that goes beyond ontology. The nature of tap dance is then investigated in historical, functional, and culturally contextual ways, after which the essay shows how the answers to the historical and functional questions are best solved by cultural and contextual considerations. This chapter proposes a theory of dance rhythm as distinct from rhythm in dance. First, it distinguishes natural and intentional rhythm, constructed from combining theories by Dewey and Margolis. It then defends this account by exploring musical and non-musical connections between rhythm and dance. It argues that dance rhythm can arise in conjunction with music, or that it can – though need not – follow music, or that it can set the musical rhythm, or be completely independent of music, though natural or internal bodily rhythms can underpin both.
