A musical in which a modern day Romeo and Juliet are involved in New York street gangs. On the harsh streets of the upper west side, two gangs battle for control of the turf. The situation becomes complicated when a gang members falls in love with a rival's sister.

Based on the Thomas Keneally novel, The Playmaker, Our Country's Good follows the true story of these first citizens of Australia. The prisoners are all too familiar with barbaric punishments, shortages of food, and impending death. Morale is at its lowest. However, the newly appointed governor of the New South Wales prison, Captain Arthur Phillip, seeks to build a community within the penal walls and orders the prisoners to produce a play.

The informal, and occasionally formal, institution of the dancing boy--the term used by most Western writers in their descriptions of the Islamic world--has been attested for centuries by European observers throughout the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia, as well as the Indian subcontinent and throughout the Islamic areas of Southeast Asia such as Indonesia and the southern Philippines. The production of Minotaur was not only a reinterpretation of an ancient Greek myth, but an opportunity for Latino hip-hop artists to pass down a cultural tradition to the next generation. Latino artists situated hip-hop as a social movement, and the teen performers physically embodied this in the songs and dance. In this way, the Athenian rebellion became the breaking of stereotypes often associated with urban youths. The performers beautifully portrayed this act of resistance when Theseus took Minos’ golden crown, wore it, and passed it down for all the Athenians to wear.

This thesis compares the dancing of the Shakers (The United Society of Believers in Christ's Second Appearance) and the Mormons (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or LDS Church) during the nineteenth century, as it was influenced by their doctrinal beliefs about the human body. Specifically, it examines how the role of the physical body in achieving mortal happiness and immortal salvation was viewed by each group and how these beliefs were reflected in their dancing. Through time the dancer has been both celebrated and disadvantaged by antithetical ideas: the division of soul and body, form and matter, life and death, artist and audience. For the romantics, the dancing body stood in a relationship to poetic thought in much the same way as the dancer stood to the body. Notions of the body in early modernism arose from cultural and political constructs through which poets and writers examined the nature of truth. During the World War II bombings of London, four English siblings are sent to a country house where they will be safe. Lucy, one of the children, finds a wardrobe that transports her to a magical world called Narnia. After coming back, she soon returns to Narnia with her brothers, Peter and Edmund, and her sister, Susan. There they join the magical lion, Aslan, in the fight against the evil White Witch.
