For faculty, the ability to write about their research and publish their findings can advance their academic career while contributing information to their field. Yet faculty often lack confidence in their ability to write for publication and struggle to find time to write.

An interdisciplinary faculty group asked us for help prioritizing their writing and meeting their publishing goals, and in response we developed a yearlong month by- month program of achievable small tasks to guide the manuscript writing process and make publishing less overwhelming.

Websites are not accessible to many individuals with color-vision deficiency or color-blindness; this is because of poor color and design choice. One must design websites with these individuals in mind. In this study, it was found that color choice on aspects such as body text, background, and links did have an effect on how individuals with color-blindness were able to use and read websites.

Service-learning allows students to interact with and support their local community while advancing necessary skills in their given field, in this case, Technical Communication. The potential benefits of service-learning include work experience for students, a dynamic and untraditional teaching experience for instructors, and the community partners gain as much, if not more, then they would from traditional, non-learning community service. Environmental issues touch nearly every field. Technical communication researchers have advocated for multidisciplinary environmental communication research to effectively address the depth of environmental issues and speed at which environmental issues evolve. Visuals are often used in environmental communication to help clarify complex information. Using a multidisciplinary approach, the author utilizes secondary research to answer the question, ‘how do data visualizations support environmental communication?’ This research illustrates the value of using environmental data visualizations to add credibility and to facilitate interpretation within environmental communication. The way in which literary genres are understood shapes how one reads and interacts with different texts. Genre expectations affect both how individuals choose texts to read, and then how those texts are understood. Therefore, labeling literature as a certain genre affects the relationship between writer and reader. Literary nonfiction is unlike most genres as it promises a certain truth to its readers. One cannot deviate too far from “the truth” in nonfiction writing and still fulfill the genre; the relationship a reader has with a text changes if it is not considered “true enough.” Author James Frey, who marketed …
